      1. In the settings menu, choose speed for the joystick - slow, medium, fast. 2. Use 90degree, L or T type, charging usb cable. 3. There are aftermarket cases where you can store osmo when not using.

    When you use a stabilizer to film a stabilizer to film yourself to show how stable the stabilizer is.

    If you go into the settings you can actually change both the speed of the joystick and also whether it just goes left/right and up/down or you can change it to freely move

    Pretty accurate review, but you're wrong on one aspect : you can charge your phone by using a shorter L-shaped lightning cable, I'm doing this all the time when using the Osmo. Balancing needs to be slightly adjusted though when doing this

    • @agentsony2912
      @agentsony2912 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The point of the external usb is to charge your phone yes a great idea. But not while using it. The gimbal uses enough pawer to balance and move your phone while also wirelessly connecting to your phone via the DJI app. So drawing more power to charge your phone during use will only casue the gimbal to not only die quicker, but experience future battery problems down the road. It's not wise to charge your phone while using the gimbal as your phone also uses a ton of battery power to run the camera constantly during recording. You'll only slowly destroy your gimbal this way

    Wrong information on the joystick. You control where the camera points simply by moving the gimbal in that direction. The primary purpose of the joystick is to set your initial framing.

    You can very easily flip the view to "selfie mode" by pressing the Mode button 3 times. It will cut off the video and you need to press Record again, but it works great. I'm not sure why you would want to turn the camera around manually because it simply takes too long, when you can instantly flip the view with the Mode button.

    Good review Tom, I bought a second hand one and what I noticed is that when you turn on with a phone on it, the “tilt” motor starts vibrating when is facing straight but when you tilt it either up or down it stops. Is it a common issue among this? Can it be fix ? Thanks for your time !

  • @davebassP5
    @davebassP5 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not sure what phone you are using, but my iPhone 8+ is just long enough to cause the tilt motors to jam together when I’m not using the Osmo2. This fixes the 4th issue you have.

    although last resort, if you really really need to charge your phone while getting good shots on your iPhone you can flip it like you did, but turn the gimbal into flashlight mode, you will be a bit restricted with the movements but if thats all you got its better than handheld.

    It’s fantastic, but it’s lacking either one of two things. It needs a removable battery, or a locking off button. I carried mine on a12 day hike in the mountains and it turned on in my pack on day 3 and completely died. I still got great pics with my IPhone X, but only 12 min of FMV.

    Regarding the problems you mentioned, I think it was a fantastic idea placing an USB port to charge your phone, it's one least thing to carry around (power bank). In regards to the battery life, to be honest, it's a chronic problem of the iPhones (like yours) to drain the battery very fast, if you had a Huawei you wouldn't be mentioning that as a "problem".

    Wonder if you could spacer out the phone in the cradle to gain access to phone charger port.
    That or clip a phone case/battery case to the phone to get your extra run time.

    • @stanfordwebbie
      @stanfordwebbie 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not really workable. The phone must be in perfect balance inside the phone holder. If you move the phone outward to gain clearance for the jack, it becomes unbalanced. I've seen folks add small weights to make a counter balance, but then you're adding weight that the motors must now contend with.

    • @mabryatpinnacol
      @mabryatpinnacol 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What Bob says is true but at some point I’m going to try rebalancing my phone with the necessary clearance to get a charging jack in and see if that might work.... other than this small shortcoming I love the Osmo 2. I’m a.ready used to carrying a small battery pack to charge my phone on the fly as needed and that is a good work around.

    • @graphguy
      @graphguy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly. No way did DJI intend for the phone to be connected with a USB cable to the Osm02 for charging while in use. Not only is there the balance issue, there is the cable issue. Wireless proximity charging would be the only solution for the combo... or wait..... Cell phone manufacturers could make their batteries user replaceable ...what a wonderful idea... Oh right, that AIN'T ever going to happen --- again. Or they could put in a decent size battery and get rid of all the ATT and Verizon Bloatware... right that isn't going to happen either.

    • @MrD10e

    Great review mate, just cemented why I won't buy one of these. My iphone battery needs charging two/three times a day when using my Mavic Air and general use and I hate carrying power banks around all the time. Although the Osmo2 has a built in charger, when you can't actually film and charge at the same time, it's a wasted feature! Surprised DJI weren't more ground breaking with this?

  • @lordloftin7872
    @lordloftin7872 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is an adapter that allows you to charge while using the osmo, you should have checked it out before making the comment that you can't charge. you can't research the item before talking. I also use the adapter to hook a mic to the phone for better sound. Found on Amazon, 2 in 1 Dual Ports Splitter Adapter.

    Tom, How does the 2 work with an iPhone 8+? I read where the iPhone stabilization fights against the Osmo! He sent it back and called it worthless with the iPhone 8. Before I buy, any thoughts?

    • @8654ZuluFoxtrot
      @8654ZuluFoxtrot 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have an iPhone X and it works great! I would think the 8 works just the same in this and I haven't seen the stabilization fight against the Osmo 2. If you are worried about it you can very easily turn off stabilization on your iPhone. This new Osmo 2 really is the best you can buy at this price point. The only thing better on the market is the Freefly Movi, which is almost 3x as much money.

    I make virtual tours and I have a Osmo 3, However I think I made a mistake, the Osmo 2 will do a 330 degree Panorama with a large field of view through DJI GO.
    DJI GO is NOT compatible with the OSMO 3
    which means that I am now stuck with the limited capacity of 225 degrees via the Mimo App and a very limited field of view.
    So it looks like I will have to go back to the Osmo 2

    Place the phone in portrait mode, then you can charge the phone at the same time.
