Don Campbell 1951 - 2020
Soooo Electric.. So animated with pomp flair and exaggerated moves. The God of pantomime street dance.. Toni being the Goddess.. He jumped head first down a wormhole of eternal flyness..
My knees
I first saw Campbellockin Carol Burnette show where he has red n yellow outfit on with orangish yellow backround 1973 they played Scorpio thats when Charles Robot Washington was with them! I was 5-6 yeats old!! It was like Aug 14 or 17th next to my bday!! R.I.P Don,Fred Berry Mr Penguin, Greg Campellock jr., Sir lance-a-lock Shabba-Doo
I was so amazed at the formation of the style and it almost seems like the poplock and robot come from his more puppet/automaton inspired illusionary performance. A man of his time and a herald to the future!!
Damn, now Shabadoo is gone he posted on IG “it’s only 4of us left” many shorts months later he’s now gone anywho rest well to both legendary of dance 🕊💔

I would like to know if Don Campbell or any dancers in this innovative dance form ever suffered any serious or long range injuries performing it.

No disrespect but I want to dig this guy up and see what his knee caps were made out of. One dive on the ground for me and I’m not getting up. Bring me my meals on the ground
I used to watch boogaloo Dana....and Harry berry the Frisco poper.....but let me say this....I never hear charlie cahpplins name come up...cause everyone stole his moves....be it locking or the robot.....come on man ....the robot is a knock off of charlie chapplin and locking is a faster version of Chaplin's moves.....come on maaaaaaaaaaàn...😎
Emeron Jackson-You've got to be kidding me! Do you seriously think that a white guy Charlie Chaplin actually created any of the popping locking moves? Seriously, if you knew your history as it pertains to dance then you would certainly know that Charlie Chaplin, who you actually tried to give credit to for creating a form/evolution of social dancing, when you should be crediting our ancestors in Africa, who are the original architects of social dancing! Charlie Chaplin duplicated what he saw black traditional and modern jazz dancers doing before and during the Big Band jazz era!!!! That's not to say that there were not white dancers that were good such as Charlie Chaplin, Fred Astaire, etc, but let's be honest, the white dancers mimicked what they saw blacks doing such as The Nicholas Brothers for starters doing, as whites always have done!!!!! Not to say that Don Campbellock wasn't influenced by dance legends before him, thats obvious because every for of dance you see today is an evolution of social dancing< the difference is that contemporary dancers add their own take on whats been previously done!!!! As a former semi-pro dancer and former Soul train gang dancer, what you're not going to do is ignorantly try to discredit blacks as being the architects of modern social dancing, which originated in Africa with ancient africans as well as ancient Hebrew/Isrealite tribes!!!! No white person can be credited with this form of dancing anymore than a white person can be credited for the creation of any form of contemporary music, be it Pop,Hip hop, rock n roll/rhythm & Blues, Jazz, Classic and contemporary soul, all of which is rooted in blues which was created by Robert Johnson a black man, who was the undisputed King of the Delta Blues!!!!!
Genial...
I remember when Don first started. He would stop in front of the house and talk to you and show you his latest moves on his way to the park to show people how to lock.
GOOD BLESS BLACK PEOPLE!!!!
Rest In Peace
