I love how these lockers were probably born 20 years after locking was a thing. It's great to see the artform live on.
I liked Yuki"s presentation better. But that's just my personal preference. Both are really good.
I am teaching a little Locking to my second graders and showed them this video, (also for the battle component). One of them said "Sugar Rae is a good name for him b/c he moves like he has sugar in his body!" (meaning, his dance moves are sweet.) I thought you would love that comment from a second grader.
I am the third funkiest rapper on the north side of my street. If these dancers would come to one of our rap battles it would enhance the whole experience.

And if I am being honest a lot of the guys on the south side of my street are pretty dag funky sooooo.
I guess saying "that's ever been" is a little bit of a stretch. But I am definitely the funkiest guy in my car club.

This guy has soul and funk what a dancer I never seen nothing like yuki killed it too very excellent lockers
Yuki's moves are so clean and on point, but seems to have more limitations and definitely out of stamina at the end. Suger Rae's moves really need refinement, but he has more creativity and probably can go a few more rounds if needed. Obviously there is an advantage to Sugar Rae due to his physique. I'd pick Yuki just because her moves are so clean.
dude Yuki danced the whole tournament that day to reach the Judge Battle! Sugar Rae as a judge danced only for the final. Ofcourse she was out of stamina. Personally I found Yuki had more precise and sharper movements plus more variety in her style and a better musicality too. She was the winner for me :)
Both massively expressive and good. I feel she is a lil sharper/crisp, with more consistent “on rails” movement when’s travelling.
She won all respect to both
I was born in the 1980's, and I think just missing Pop n Lock in the 70's must explain my obsession with the style.
Pop n Lock is so incredible in battle format. Both of these dancers are incredible

Yukis armwork was Phenomenal !! She Almost pulled the Upset !! I Believe Yuki is the long Lost Sister of the Go-Go Brothers !!!...
Probably one of the best battle I have seen in all kind of battle, feels like both of them are really into this art, and use 100% in every move.
Yuki won this for me AKA Princess (you know you won in a lot of people's hearts and minds?

Yuki was perfect. Never seen either one before. Yuki knows how to perform and entertain. Sugar repeated his steps over and over. :( he shouldn't of won.
There's inherent bias as blacks are often perceived to be naturally soulful and more in tune with musicality. It's like saying white men can't jump no matter how good he jumps.

Sugar Rae won hands down, his moves were clean, relatable and enjoyable to watch. Yuki's moves were sharp but it was repetitious and lack story.
Yuki should learn some hat flourishes to put that cherry on top!

Yuki was good but sugar Rae deserved to win. Yuki kept using the same arm movements in every round which was too repetitive. Didn’t see too many new moves.

This wasn’t close imo. Sugar Rae was FONKY and naturally flowed to the music. He won hands down.
Not to say Yuki wasn’t good. She had some moments but it felt like she was trying to pack in as many moves into one turn as she could. It didn’t flow for me. Respect to both tho. It was entertaining.

Sorry but some people's bodies just aren't the right proportions for popping and it looks strange. Moves seem to be diminished due to short statures and the hat Yuki is wearing makes her seem even shorter and clumped together.
Natural bias because she's competing someone with a much bigger body. You could say something similar about him, too big, he wasn't particularly tight after 1st round. Her head was crunched down so it didn't feature in her moves but overall body movement made a lot of sense. What "moves" dancing needs an "ideal" body anyhow?
@@jjryan1352 lots of dance moves depend on body type. Do you think a guy is going to try to swing a 200lb woman under his legs in swing dancing? You can be too small for certain moves to look good, and you can be too big to where you might injur yourself dancing. Ballet dancers, more specifically men, have to be incredibly muscular to be able to pull off hours of holding poses and women. Body type is something that should be considered not only for the style of dance to look effective, but also for safety.

one of my favorite things about locking is that everyone knows all the songs and breaks, and their enjoyment of the songs comes through their dancing
she's prpbably the best female locker style dancer ive ever seen.. and ive been watching it since it started in the late 70s...

Yuki had a more intense dance with more movement overall, but Sugar Rae's movements fit the music better. And he had clear moves from one to another, while for Yuki it was hard to separate into different and variated moves. Sugar Rae was better for the funky beats because he took the traditional dance moves for that genre and got them to excel in his own style, while Yuki was more of an "outsider" in the genre. So yes, Sugar Ray won for me, even if he had less movements or less intense, because you can see every single move clearly and feel the soul of the music in all of them.

When I think Locking, I think of Yuki's moves so I don't get how she's an outsider.
It's not fair. Just because Sugar Rae's is a big guy , his moves can be look clearly.
Ironically, Yuki's part is most replayed. It's obviously that most people think Yuki is better, haha.
Sugar Rae get the crowd and Yuki get the creative but how ever who is the very funky will win I vote to sugar Rae for next generation!!!
Yuki made the slickest move but it wasn't long enough and it was from too far away. 6:31 She needed some robotic gliding in her routine and she would have outdone his flamboyant abstract energy. imo. More pop locking and less Jitterbug bouncing would improve their skills.
