The Destruction of the Interceptor was a sea battle fought near shoals in the Caribbean Sea. It was fought between the crew of the Black Pearl, led by Captain Hector Barbossa, and the crew of the Interceptor.
Hector Barbossa's crew retrieved the Aztec Gold Medallion, the Interceptor demolished, and Will Turner becoming Barbossa's prisoner.

Barbarossa becoming angry when he notices the apple jack bit into didn't spoil because Jack isn't cursed. Such great story telling.
I always just thought he wouldn't eat from the same apple as Jack, this makes way more sense

When the BLACK PEARL was truly a pirate ship to fear... the way she was coming up onto the Interceptor with that rolling fog behind her, was chilling. ☠️
I do love that by sheer luck, the monkey grinned full force when Geoffrey Rush said, "We named the monkey Jack."
I'm would wager that smiling is one of the things you can train a monkey to do on command. It could very well have just had the trainer off camera giving him the cue. He is looking ahead, slightly to the side of the camera at that point. Or that could have been CGI, his head twists a little weirdly in that moment.

I think it still hurts to take a sword or bullet in the flesh.
They don’t forget that they’re immortal- that’s why they continue to fight like beasts- but they DO get blown up by cannon fire. Explosions are probably their worst weaknesses to being undead. Remember when Will placed bombs inside one of Barbossa’s crew when they went out of the sunlight? I think that damaged him good enough to where he couldn’t exactly return to normal. And the cannon balls themselves can rip barbossa’s men to shreds. And also falling into the water- I don’t think they can swim. So they just sink to the bottom.

Ironically enough, loading the cannons with forks and spoons making a crude form of grape shot was actually a good idea...if Barbossa's crew wasn't undead.

I remember in the GBA Game of PotC 2 there was a ammunition type for Silver Ware that hat the side effect of slowing down the enemy ships movement speed and acceleration because the Silver Ware would pierce their sails. For a GBA to a Movie it was pretty dam involved interms of mechanics and details.

Didn't realize it before, Will mentioning that he would kill himself and he'd go to Davy Jones locker, because he is the one to take hold of the souls that die at sea. A great touch from the writers.

I always wondered how she kept coming up with random nautical knowledge, though, like thinking about the two ship's draft and throwing the anchor to pit the Interceptor around. At this point in her life she'd been a ship as a child coming from England and that was it. I think I remember her saying she read about pirates or something but that's a far cry from knowing what to do on a ship during a combat situation.

@@frank-2martialoffrankoslav151 She probably heard them from the crew aboard her father's ship. Remember, Mr. Gibbs was part of the crew, so he probably told her some stories. And probably from some of the domestic help as well. If they used any kind of nautical terms or mentioned any kind of maneuvers, she no doubt asked what they meant.
So she was already learned in the ways of sailing for the most part.

When Will mentions the Locker, I wonder if the plot of the second and third movie had already been planned out.
It was already a very well known nautical phrase used in pretty much every pirate text. This was also back before they planned franchises in advance.
Davy Jones was an already well-known myth. POTC didn't create him although they did heavily influence people's knowledge of him
The "Interceptor" was the same ship labeled "Enterprise" at the beginning of Star Trek Generations.

Barbossa is very annoying with the whole captain thing, Jack died with the Black Pearl, he went to Davy Jones Locker with it, he even killed Barbossa and took the ship back, AND Davy Jones said it was his ship the whole time.

They built it to rid the sea of pirates and yet it sinks after its first battle with a pirate ship.
To be fair it is a mythical pirate ship raised from the depths by davy Jones himself that has unnatural speed and is crewed by immortal pirates, not sure the English had that in mind when building a pirate hunting ship.
They also probably expected it to be crewed by an actual well trained and well supplied crew of English soldiers when they took it pirate hunting, not crewed by a small crew of thieves that didn't even have cannon balls and where shooting forks at people

I love that Jack's suggestion is completely cut, so instead of berating him, Barbossa is already fed up with Jack's antics and incarcarating him.
Barbossa can be a real 1d1ot sometimes, blowing up the Interceptor carelessly like that, he was real lucky William survived. Because if William died in that explosion, his curse would have became eternal.
He wasn't yet aware that Will was Bootstrap's son...or that he even existed.
1:52 I love how the anchor move was very similar to potc5 when Jack tricks Salazar into the triangle ! Even Elizabeth as a novice sailor knows that you have to let go the wheel to perform a nice turn

Something I never liked about this scene was how they fired chain-shot at the mast. While chain-shot could cut a man in half it would be a 50-50 on cutting through or just wrapping around a mast. Bar-shot would’ve been more effective.
Chain shot was intended to be use to cut a ships rigging, the ropes securing the mast to the rest of the ship. Cut the rigging and the force of the winds, which are enough to move the entire ship, will literally rip the mast from the deck.

This scene is pretty cool, but I’m surprised Barbosa and the others didn’t think to keep the Interceptor. I know it’s (obviously) not as fast as the Black Pearl, but it’s still a good ship until it’s destroyed. Not to mention, even though it was all a hoax, I like Jack’s idea later on with adding the Dauntless to their fleet. They should have done that with the Interceptor.
What I love and hate about these movies is that Jack is an absolute genius at negotiation and he's constantly overlooked because he plays the bungling fool all too well. And here Will completely overlooks him. Also why does Elizabeth not know how to pronounce 'Fire"

Hmmm. Considering if Will shot himself, the bloodline would die with him and Barbosa and his crew would be stuck with an infinite life (or death) of thirst and hunger... I would have made a stronger deal than that.
Or they could have tried picking up bootstrap from the bottom of the sea. In the second pirates he reveals that after he sunk with the cannon tied to him, he could not move or die. There is always a way to break the curse because everyone who partook of those coins directly from the chest would be undead and thr coins called to those undead. Technically speaking bootstrap had two active curses (the dutchman and the skeleton one) both at the same time.

Kind of a lame fight scene when we know who's going to win since one side literally can't die. That was the big problem with this movie. Most of the battles no tension or sense of drama because one side was invincible.
This whole scene is literally just to show off how strong the undead pirate. But then at the end of the movie they got ultimately defeated by their own desire to be alive again. And the last fight scene is not a fancy battle at all, but it shows how clever Capt. Jack Sparrow is.
@@mikachan9541 But my point still stands though. The battle scenes would have been a lot more entertaining if it wasn't impossible for one side to lose. Also I really hated how the pirates simply gave up when they lost their invincibility in the final fight. Like come on, just because they aren't invincible anymore doesn't mean they would stop fighting. They had already killed a lot of British sailors, so maybe they still could have won. Plus they knew as much as anyone that the penalty for piracy is death, so it's not like they had anything to gain from surrendering.

She even suggest that they could run tru shallow waters (what would make a lot of sense since the ship was small enough for it) but then Elizabeth is the one who suggest to drop the anchor so they could fight (??) Girl, you should had kept the shallow water plan.
About the final battle with the british: Maybe the only sense is that the whole british soldiers were holding guns, while the pirates were holding only knifes and swords, but still you are right, the pirates had killed a lot of men, so they could risk their lives in order to win the battle since they all would die being hanged anyway. I think they got chocked by the curse's end all of a sudden during the battle, especially because they were so used to not get killed that they simply chocked as the coward they always were
