It's more culturally relevant to the 1990s. Growing up back then we often thought how cool it would be have a system that could play BOTH SNES and Sega games. (They also did not have TV back in 1853 or proper electricty for that matter) ;-]

same, I had a boatload of them years ago, and all I need is this to have gone with them; especially since they've all become collectors items now and are either outrageously expensive, or you buy them and take the chance of them not working when you get them.
I have to say I’m becoming a fan of this company. I have their retro player handheld and it’s awesome. Worth it just to have Megaman 1 & 2. Although I’m planning on adding the Mega SG to my collection when it comes out in April, already owning the Super NT, but I love this unit. Especially since it’s cartridge based and not emulating. Sweet video.

i didn’t know there were others who like playing retro games on 16:9! of course the image is more crisp at 4:3 but i have poor vision so 16:9 has always been more preferable to me since it uses the whole screen. great video! :)
Just got mine the other day! I got the Ultimate Caveman Collection bundle version and I gotta say, I do love it. The response time matches my original system perfectly, the image comes out looking great and the variety of options is amazing. Worth every penny of the $80 I spent (loving the multi-cart too, super fun).
I'm pretty sure Nintendo knew that the hardware would be cracked to run roms soon enough anyway, so it probably saved them alot of hassle having that feature implemented.
4:20 the SR3+ seems to be slightly yellowed and have a less absolute black, and considering the color of it saying nintendo Ia am willing to be it is tinted yellow
What I'm most curious about is the quality of the A/V composite video, especially for Genesis which has easily the worst composite of the three systems.
You can probably use the master system adapter and I think the famicom adapter plus u can play super famicom games I just got my retro trio plus today I recommend it for the price it's a solid console
I must say, it’s pretty damn good. I lost my Genesis years ago, never had an NES or SNES before, but now I do as a 3-in-1 solution. I do plan to buy a Super Game Boy and Flashcards for all 3 systems, I did hear it is compatible as well as original and reproduction cartridges.
I need more SNES, NES and Genesis games. I’ve got one Super Famicom game (a newly released one) and it requires a bit of sliding for that one bit rest assured, it definitely works! You forgot to mention that the NES part works with Famicom adapters. I’ve got one and one Famicom game. Totally works! Try it and see for yourself!
I just received my retro trio plus today and honestly its amazing it played everything I so far played on it multi carts carts with special chips like the fx chip on snes and castlevania 3 for nes that some clones have trouble with and this is someone who has all 3 original consoles I have the one chip snes and the va4 Sega genesis with the Sony encoder And the Toaster nes is it perfect no but for 71 dollars its worth the price I highly recommend it alot of people give it bad reviews I thought it looked amazing yea the colors might be alittle off and the sound but not a deal breaker for me anyway

The retro-bit controllers are my go-to brand for 3rd party retro nowadays. Especially with their upcoming Official Sega license! But for consoles, I still go to my Retron 5. They're too good to pass up.

I like how you compared them. The SNES classic looks the best, but of course it does not have every game. There has been so many re releases of some famous SNES and NES games and at this point I recommend checking out some raspberry pie DIY projects for old games or some Raspberry pie running consoles that are portable for some old games that you could buy if you don't want to use an emulator on your phone for some older games.
I had a retrobit nes and it broke the same day due to the death grip. Got it sent back and got a refund. I also have a retron5 that lost a pin on the nes port and some of the other ports have bent ones. $150 down the drain. Guess this one's the same. Until they improve those issues, clone consoles are garbage. Save your money.
I'm pretty sure the device shown cant exactly use the 32x because the 32x has a special cord that can only be plugged into a genesis in order for it to be fully connected. Soooooo yeah
Really weird that you have to play 16:9 and have the video stretched out making all the characters look fat. Though many TV's have a 4:3 mode, it just seems weird this mode was not built into the console (at least as a switch).
I have the earlier version with only analog outputs, A/V with S-Video. When I bought it I was mostly concerned with input delay/lag. I use the console on a 27 inch Sharp CRT TV with the full range of analog inputs. Now I would like to add an HDMI version to my multi-monitor PC setup but I hope it does not add too much additional input lag. I was sadden to find this detail unaddressed in your video.
This is why companies need to quit being cheap and reuse old parts. I Guarantee that you had your new and old retro system and they used the same charging plug size for both despite them being different voltages. If they had changed the plug sizes you'd be unable to confuse them and do this on accident. You seem very technical so you can try to open them up and see if it's a simple resistor/capacitor or even onboard fuse that blew. It's possible you could fix both for a few dollars in parts. I'd be willing to look at them as I do electronics repair/calibration for a living but it'd be your choice! Enjoying the videos a lot.

Super Famicom games work without an adapter, but Famicom games require one. I haven't tested Megadrive yet. NES, SNES, and Genesis work great though. My Super Gameboy should arrive in the mail soon, so I'll test that as well. EDIT: Super Gameboy works great. MegaDrive carts also work great EDIT: Famicom games work with an adapter, but you have to flip the cartridge around

I've been an avid Retron 5 user for a couple years, but they have an insane amount of problems. From freezing, crashing, bad updates, etc. It's a neat system, but I have to admit that the simplicity of the Super Retro Trio Plus is enticing, after the issues that the Retron throws around.
So how’s the power button thing? That’s my biggest gripe with the original Super Retro Trio in that they’re still all on one button and it’s a little tricky to get to the NES sometimes to check compatibility.
How bad is the delay on HDMI? Retron 5 has horrible input lag, probably near 100ms if not more. I've gotten fed up with all the issues with Retron 5: random freezing, framerate dropping when it shouldn't, and hardware issues in general.
I bought one and its great. The one downside is that when I purchased the game Rad Racer for the nes, it did not work on the SRT + and I took the game to 2nd & Charles to have the game tested, it worked perfectly on their Reton 3. go figure! Other than that, its a great (not perfect) clone console.

What about the Power Converter (a Genesis accessory that allowed you to play Master System games) and those adapters that allowed you to play bootleg or Famicom games on the NES? I wonder if there is a way of putting a 32X console into the genesis slot and having it work?

First thing I did when I found out about this is test whether my tv can force a 720p signal to 4:3. It cannot. :( I'll be sticking to the Retron 3.
You can just change the aspect ratio to 4:3 on your tv

To truly test 32x compatibility I would see if you could attach an actual 32x to the system

Get the retrobit gba adapter, it’s basically a gba in a snes cart, it plays gba and I think gb and gbc too

The audio for genesis games works on a fan console but the genesis classic edition has audio problems that’s how you know you messed up
I just bought one from Amazon so I am kinda anxious about the performance . Being the fact I have had trouble with Hyperkin .

The PSG seems much too loud on the Mega Drive front.

If you want to get a replacement for your Retron5 I reccomend you to get a Retrofreak :)
Look like a great product! However, no 4:3 aspect ratio is a deal breaker here. Playing classic games in stretched 16:9 is a no-no

It can but you would need to zapper games on a old style tv instead of a new one
