MC5 drummer Dennis Thompson, the last surviving original member of the influential group, died Thursday morning at MediLodge of Taylor, where he had been rehabilitating following a heart attack in April. He was 75.
His death comes a little over three months since fellow MC5 cofounder Wayne Kramer died. Other key figures in the band’s history, all deceased, included singer Rob Tyner, guitarist Fred “Sonic” Smith, bassist Michael Davis and guitarist Kramer. The group’s former manager, John Sinclair, died April 2.
The group was just voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. The induction ceremony will be held in October in Cleveland.

Few weeks back I was on a mc 5 kick! Watching a documentary about the mc5 and grande ballroom and other performance stuff and I was like yeah he was the last original member alive! Life can go so quick ! Very sad! The legacy lives! ⚡️space ace Ron⚡️

I'm a 47 year old thrasher. I discovered the MC5 sometime in the middle to late 80's. My folks were and still are big on the 60's, 70's and 80's era of Rock and pre Heavy Metal.
I once raided their extensive vinyl collections aeons ago and discovered the likes of UFO, Uriah Heep, Lucifer's Friend etc... within the heaps of records was Kick out the Jams by the MC5. I was floored by it's raw and unbridled energy. Proto Punk, Proto Metal. It's well suited for anyone that loves garage styles of Madness!!!!
My Mom and Dad are saddened by the news earlier today. They said they don't make band's like they used to.
Keep up the great work that you do, Sir!!! You're the Man!!!

Three great albums of super-charged blues rock. Sometimes on the political side. In fact, that's what killed their very promising career.

Little by little those memories of better times, times when every bar had live entertainment folks got along, and whether you had money or not was good enough are fading away into this mysterious fog called yesterday, I wouldn't trade places with anyone in the same age group
    living today..
