I'm not sure to to quickly model in SketchUp, although there may be a bezier-type of drawing plugin to sketch the profiles. You might also try using a vector-based drawing program like Illustrator. On an ipad with a stylus, you might be able to more easily trace the different patterns, export as a DWG file, which can then be imported into SketchUp for manipulation.
