    Wondering what I use to sketch on the iPad? Here's where to download it: courses.thirtybyforty.com/p/30x40-s-procreate-pack
    And, if you want to start a design business but don’t know where to begin? Try this: side.thirtybyforty.com/

      Wow 😮 ! thanks man! Another great video and a deep source of information ...I Don’t know if you’ve come to realised the huge and constant inspiration you are for independent architects around the world, and even more for those of us who are also using video or cinema, sketches, drawings and architecture as a way of personal expression. The neet structure and elegant way in which your content is presented is always consistent with your work as a designer, and that’s amazing.. keep it up man.. great work!

    i love how these ideas are not just ideas, they are little stories, narratives that helps you imagine what it is like to be using them.

    • @thomasbranson5116
      @thomasbranson5116 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's a very common theme in architecture. As a student, I hear my professor tell us almost every day that each design should tell a story, create a narrative, and inspire feelings. It makes the profession so much more than what it already is.

    • @reddevilian
      @reddevilian 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thomasbranson5116 Yes it is a very common; as an Architect in practice working on commercial and civic projects, this narrative is often lost in the hundreds of meetings and paperwork.

    I was commenting to my wife on how your sketches always remind me of da Vinci's sketches. I was a graphic artist early in my life and always enjoyed the process when a group of us would brainstorm a project design and the end session would be this large blackboard of images and comments. I'm always amazed by your work.

      You're too kind, I'm totally flattered! I struggle with sharing unfinished work and process sketches like these for fear of looking unprofessional and unpolished. I'm not an architect, but I am designing my own house. I walk around with a measuring tape and check things like how wide is this china hutch and how much space is good for a great laundry room. I went about my design in a layer by layer by layer method, from the dirt up. How does the air flow through rooms? Where is the sun? In a big Arizona rainstorm, will these walls be protected? Where will the water go off the roof, where does it wind up down hill? Is the hot water heater in the best location to save precious water? Could I move the kitchen sink to make better use of a straight line to the hot water heater? I probably should have been a designer by trade, but I chose the law early in my working life and kind of got stuck there. No regrets, but I would have LOVED doing this work for pay earlier in life. I was fortunate to find you a couple of years ago when I started this project. Your shared knowledge has saved me tons of aggravation. Thank you soooooo much!!

    Oh my... I love that you used Klaus Zwergers Book as an inspiration. He is a Professor at my University and I'm thinking about making my masters thesis with him :)
    Great video, I really aspire to get my design process to this approach, since I have a technical background and I'm not too great at sketching... Getting into the flow and coming up with new ideas that build up on each other as you go sound like the holy grail to me ;)

    What tool are you using on the iPad (sorry if it is obvious or explained elsewhere)? I've been using Concept on the iPad which gives me some nice sketching options, but this interface seems much cleaner.
    EDIT: Scanning further down the comments, I see you've answered the question, and I've bookmarked that page. I continue to be nothing but impressed by your professionalism and willingness to share your knowledge!

    Great video, inspired some creative ideas for my clients mudroom. I am going to place a 6 inch deep cabinet with phone and I pad charging stations and key hangers with a pull panel that will have a cork and chalk board face on the exterior face. The panel will act as a temporay writing surface.

    Cool nice videos I need to get away from the digital environment too sometimes. That’s why I draw on the sketchbook.
