So far I find I most often employ different fighting styles based on situation rather than preference. I just started the game and have only unlocked 3 of Kazuma’s fighting styles so far. I see what you mean. I actually enjoyed the Dragon Of Dojima style, because Y0 was my first Yakuza game, so it felt like an improved Brawler without the "retaliation counters". Plus I love a good dropkick, and this style has the best one.
Thug has an amazing unlockable attribute where you can repeatedly press square and it'll continually hit them and stun lock them and it won't knock them down until you press triangle basically meaning that you can just drain there health in one combo. Brutal. Great choice for number 1.
My personal favourite style is DoD but your reasons for putting it at 8 are completely understandable. For me i think it’s just cause I slighter prefer Kiryu over Majima (but only slightly)
Like many others I got Yakuza Kiwami on PS+, and I couldn't be happier that I finally got into this amazing series. The juxtaposition between a story that treats death extremely seriously, and gameplay that has your character beating enemies within an inch of their lives is just hilarious. Not to mention the countless sidequests, minigames, that fact that you get to go on a virtual sideseeing tour in Tokyo, all the zany sideactivities... The whole ordeal is just quintessential videogames!
I always like to go for the “fast” fighting style (Breaker and Rush) since they’re just so fun to use....not to mention they’re the only two styles with some basis in real-life martial arts (boxing and capoeira)
Ok, so hear me out, what if you use one fighting style for each situation? Open World fights: Brawler & Breaker Side quests: Dragon & Slugger Rampages (those times where you run from room to room fighting thugs): Beast & Mad Dog Bosses: Rush & Thug
For me, Worst to Best it would go: 8. Rush 7. Dragon of Dojima 6. Thug 5. Brawler 4. Mad Dog of Shimano 3. Beast 2. Slugger 1. Breaker But I love them all in their own unique ways.
I feel like half of the people who say beast style is trash simple don't know how to use it properly. I've used it for most of the game and it got so OP at the end that I had to switch to the other styles just to get a bit of a challenge out of anything other than the boss fights.
I gotta say, thugs my favorite, mostly due to less ending lag from combos, allowing you to retreat easier, and makes Mr. Shakedown a little easier to beat.
Mad dog of Shimano actually has another heat move I discovered when Majima and an enemy are close to a wall. Majima will put the hand of the enemy on the wall and then stab his dagger into the hand. Pretty brutal and awesome if you ask me.
Have to agree with you. The more I play as Majima the more i’m growing in love with his battle styles. I find the Dragon of Dojima, Beast and Sluggers have slow and heavy impact on enemies. Less appealing but if get it right, it’s massive. Whenever in battle, I tend to switch back to the first battle style; either Brawler for Kiryu or Thug for Majima because it’s more practical and easier to dodge from the enemy’s attack. The Break style looks interesting and could easily spam those moves against a lot of enemies. Kinda reminds me of using Eddy Gordo in Tekken series or even Chun Li in Street Fighter lol. Thank you for the video 👍🏻
I understand ur point on why u put dragon of dojima style in number 8 But it’s a amazing style it’s a mix of Rush, Beast, Brawler and ofc some extra things u get from the style. U also get heat actions that do a lot of damage with is very good for bosses with lots of health I kinda feel like dragon of dojima style was put to low on the list. Good Vid Tho!
I didn't realize how fun majima is until I finished his 3 styles upgrade and unlocked legend style before prison nishitani fight, but kiryu still haven't unlock blocked upgrade at finale chapter.
And then there is me who forgot to do the side story, business, minigames, etc and now all of sudden be on chapter 17 and need to rush all of the content before I finished the game so I can fight the last boss with the best situation.
I love Rush for 3 reasons. 1. The ability to stun opponents after a specific number of hits. 2. The 2 upgrades that let you charge your finishers for bigger damage. 3. The upgrade that deals double (or more) damage to stunned opponents. Combine all 3 together, and you get a sick ass combo of hits that finish of with some MASSIVE damage. Seriously, charged kick on stunned boss = half their health bar or more. The evasiveness allows you to get behind the opponent much easier and preform the combos that will stun, so it's sort of like a memorization game, how many times do I think I need to hit him so he gets stunned? It's slow in 1st and second gear, but using your parry to get a cheeky 1 hit into finisher combo builds up a surprising amount of heat.
Slugger’s light light heavy attack was my savior for most of the game as majima. Not to mention that style got me into the multi billions from shakedown fights on chapter 4
I didn't like playing as Kiryu in the beginning of the game, and shifted to Majima for how quick and flashy he is. Later on, I started prefering Kiryu's damaging attacks and some speed in heat. The huge and really only problem with Beast mode, is just how slow you move around as opposed to all the other styles. Other than that, the sheer power and throwing people overhead is hilariously fun
well if the Motorcycle or bicycle is on the other end of the street then just switch to RUSH to run to the bicycle quickly then swap to BEAST to pick it up, easy.
I love playing Majima and mixing up the styles, especially with the Slugger style’s opening bat attack so I can hit enemies while switching to it, but most of the time I use Thug because it’s just so fun running around and breaking people’s necks (not killing them).
*Thug* is life quite literally. Also what I found weird is that after using Dragon of Dojima in 0 after using it in Kiwami in chapter 2 my only words were *”YUCK”*
Believe me when I say that mad dog is the best in the game and dragon of dojima is second Don't believe his opinion because he doesn't know how to use it
You know what i love in this series? How the moves can be realistic....or totally awesome to see.... I mean, Rush looks like Muay Thai, my favorite martial art(and the one i train) and Breaker is something i would LOVE to see in a real fight. I just love ALL the fighting styles, but my favorites are: Rush and Dragon of Dojima for Kiryu, Breaker and Mad Dog of Shimano for Majima. And man...thank you for all the videos. And i hope your channel grow even more. Cheers!
Devil lion some of the styles are different names like dragon of dojima was called master of dojimas fist and beast was called destroyer in other videos and breaker was called dancer I think boxer would be better then ruah

3. Beast
2. Slugger
1. Breaker
But I love them all in their own unique ways.
I feel like half of the people who say beast style is trash simple don't know how to use it properly. I've used it for most of the game and it got so OP at the end that I had to switch to the other styles just to get a bit of a challenge out of anything other than the boss fights.
Only thing it's good for are crowds of weak enemies, grabs, heat actions, and healing from the taunt. Other than that, worthless.
Slugger has to be my favorite one. It's just so easy and fun to use, especially with the nunchuck move.
Kiwanis and zero were my first yakuza games, so I didn’t have the same problem of dragon of dojo a style being used before
I gotta say, thugs my favorite, mostly due to less ending lag from combos, allowing you to retreat easier, and makes Mr. Shakedown a little easier to beat.
Beast is best because the square square triangle clothesline combo is the greatest thing ever
Mad dog of Shimano actually has another heat move I discovered when Majima and an enemy are close to a wall. Majima will put the hand of the enemy on the wall and then stab his dagger into the hand. Pretty brutal and awesome if you ask me.
Yes, it's pretty cool, but you can do that one with the other styles. The only exclusive heat action in Mad Dog is that one with the three enemies.
Oh, I never tried it with the other styles haha, that's why I thought it
was exclusive to the Mad Dog style. Thanks for correcting me :D.
Andrew Portier (Piano music) its there since Yakuza 2 or 3 XD
Oh shit, I played both of those actually xD, but I usually don't use daggers as much, so that's why I didn't know I guess.
Thank you so much :D
Also, increased heat action damage after landing a charged kick, so you can go super crazy with it, but then you have to suffer low heat speed
7:08 I just noticed how that guy sounded like the soldier from TF2 when they get hurt
11:57
How do you do a regular triangle move when the heat action icon pops up?
You need to hold L2 for that. That'll prevent heat actions from happening where non-heat action triangle moves involved.
The Mad Dog style is ideal for fighting Mr. Shakedown, especially if there are walls nearby
Slugger’s light light heavy attack was my savior for most of the game as majima. Not to mention that style got me into the multi billions from shakedown fights on chapter 4
Kuze and Awano’s style look so fun
I adore thug simply for the the way majima looks esspecially when he grabs people and stuff
Even tho ALL styles are Op as hell
I liked Brawler just because of the kickass music for it during fights
I didn't like playing as Kiryu in the beginning of the game, and shifted to Majima for how quick and flashy he is. Later on, I started prefering Kiryu's damaging attacks and some speed in heat. The huge and really only problem with Beast mode, is just how slow you move around as opposed to all the other styles. Other than that, the sheer power and throwing people overhead is hilariously fun
well if the Motorcycle or bicycle is on the other end of the street then just switch to RUSH to run to the bicycle quickly then swap to BEAST to pick it up, easy.
Excellent Leon!!!
Loved breaker and beast. Crowd control plus it's just fun
Thank you!
I love playing Majima and mixing up the styles, especially with the Slugger style’s opening bat attack so I can hit enemies while switching to it, but most of the time I use Thug because it’s just so fun running around and breaking people’s necks (not killing them).
How is breaking people's necks NOT, basically, killing them? 🤔🙂
Honestly I'm not even sure which fighting styles to choose in order, they're all too damn good.
*Thug* is life quite literally.
Also what I found weird is that after using Dragon of Dojima in 0 after using it in Kiwami in chapter 2 my only words were *”YUCK”*
I thought mad dog had more then 1 heat action.
Isn't there one where you pin a guys hand to the wall with your knife ?
Yes if you include the environmental heat actions there's a round maybe 25
Believe me when I say that mad dog is the best in the game and dragon of dojima is second Don't believe his opinion because he doesn't know how to use it
Ah yes, my favorite fighting style, "HOOLIGANS"
You know what i love in this series? How the moves can be realistic....or totally awesome to see....
I mean, Rush looks like Muay Thai, my favorite martial art(and the one i train) and Breaker is something i would LOVE to see in a real fight.
I just love ALL the fighting styles, but my favorites are: Rush and Dragon of Dojima for Kiryu, Breaker and Mad Dog of Shimano for Majima.
And man...thank you for all the videos. And i hope your channel grow even more.
Cheers!
Diogo Teixeira Rush has nothing to do with Muay Thai since there is no elbow/knee focused attacks. It's more like kickboxing.
I love 0 because considering all characters have different styles in 4 and 5 by their lonesome it’s as if you’re 8 characters in this
Devil lion some of the styles are different names like dragon of dojima was called master of dojimas fist and beast was called destroyer in other videos and breaker was called dancer I think boxer would be better then ruah
For the name
honestly i think brawler might be my favorite, also because of the guard counter and the counter hook.
DOD would be my favorite, but its slow when you don’t have heat
I love breaker the most cause it’s cool, but also good for crowd control
That's rad!
I think what made Kiwami so much more fun was the ability to swap styles on the fly rather than waiting for an animation in 0
