- This video is about pipe thickness calculation and all different factors affecting. It briefly differentiate between a pipe and tube, tells you about the history behind the method and schedule no. that we use today. There are two methods available to calculate pipe thickness.
1.Thickness of Straight pipe under Internal Pressure
2.Thickness of Straight pipe under External Pressure
It explains both of these methods used to calculate pipe thickness through examples. This briefly explains the method to calculate of bend since this is a rarely used.

Outstanding 💯 information and explanation
Very nice to refresh my memory again . Thanks for the good explanation.
Great video for knowlege..
Awesome and helpful for beginners
EXCELENT EXPLANATION.TANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Thank you mam for such a wonderful video!!
Thanks a lot. Very helpful and informative
Thanks for your explanation appreciate your effort greetings
Thank you very much for your effort and you really made a good explanation
Thanks for the information. Hope that you will continue sharing this kind of information/knowledge.
Sure👍
Excellent explanation easy to understand
thank you for informative video....
Please can you let me know how to interpolate in HA-3 table of SEC II PART D of 2015 to get 2750 psig ? because it is not coming by linear interpolation.
Awesome 👍
Great work
Excellent!
Hello, can you please tell me if those formulas presented in this video are also valid for plastic pipes such as PE or PVC ? I am working on a comparison between all types of piping materials and I need to figure out how to calculate the wall thickness of plastic pipes too. Thanks a lot.
Thank your for this very good explication. Can you do an exemple to determie the factor B in the external pressure. Please
Informative video
Excellent Professional grade video, keep making such videos
Thank you very much. This is excellent.
thank you keep supporting. please share if you like it.
In external pressure thickness calculation, the stress value considered in calculation depends on the D/T ratio less than 10. for D/T ratio more than 10 , the stress value shall be as per Appendix A of 31.3
Thank you to explain them
How do we work out like nozzle size selected to cut 30mm thick plate
so nice video
Where did you find the corrosion allowance from?
how to calculate allowed pressure for negative temperature (-25 °C for instance ASTM-A106)?
Thank you mam
Execellent
In minute 4:12 you talked about tolerance 12.5%, I do not undertood why in the exorcise in the minute : 6:41 you do not use it, please could you explain to me?
Excellent video. What is the coefficient "Y" for pipe under internal pressure? Is it temperature coefficient? Also, for bends, what is "I"? Is it moment of inertia?
Thanks for your excellent videos.
I is not a moment of inertia ..it is thickness at sidewall the bend CL, I= 1.0 refer ASME 304.2 2010 edition
Good morning madam..
Please can you explain what is the deffarence between Power piping and Process piping
Plz make a video in welding types and how it weld to piping and equipment
What is the 8/7 comes from?
Thank you ma'am
Thank you Ajay
What is the S ??
I request please explain about blank thickness calculations
What is the book by pdf ? please.
Excellent work. What about the role of "velocity" in pipe thickness calculation? We did not see "velocity" any where in this video?
thank you for the comment.. velocity will not come direcly into the picture but as we know there a relationship between pressure and velocity. and we did calculation based on internal pressure of the fluid. hope you got the answer.
@@PipingMantra Thank you. But can you briefly tell that relationship.
@@cck0728 it is inversely proportional to each other
where do you get 8/7 as mill tolerance? because it is written 12,5 % before
Its 7/8 refer comment section for understanding
Y do u multiply by 8/7
8/7 WHERE?
Can you make video on construction of WTP and parts of WTP and it's working macanism what are the test to be conducted for materials check and records to be maintained at WTP construction project
Water treatment plant?
@4:38 table 9.8 this is C2 and not C1, C1 is the corrosion allowance whereas C2 is the thread allowance.
Can u plz let me know how to calculate Q=A*V I need to know how to find v in dt formula without knowing Q
There are some standard Velocity per fluid you can refer that
Mam can you tell me again what is Face-A & Face-B. From where the values of them taken...?
A and B are the values which we have to take from graph in ASME B31.3 refer video from 8:45 to 9:10.
No Pipe is an Hollow cylindrical element where it always keep equalent redius around pipe and its central/longitudinal axis called pipe and its used for fluid and gases from one place to another place.
I miss updates from this channel :(
sorry we were busy in some project work but now you will see regular videos..keep supporting thank you
no entendí nada pero excelente señorita :v

Mitre bend calculation please
very useful video..but little fast explaining..I would request to slow it down..thank you
Sure..
You can pause, or rewind to understand. This is the best free giving knowledge.
Akhilesh Pathak you can slowdown the playback speed to 0.75 or 0.5 form the 3 dots at the TOP right corner for mobile phones it is also possible to slowdown speed from your PC too
In short great video
thank you..
@@PipingMantra Thank you mam
A 200mm pipe actually relates to 200mm outer diamter
While this video is informational I am still very confused. I was wondering if there is a way to tell by looking at the material.. if I’m holding one in each hand how can I tell which is which?? My work stocks both, need some tell tale signs that I can spot off the bat quickly..
Yes you can.. But to become that you have be an expert. I know one of my senior who is having that expertise he is very senior.
@@PipingMantra I’m working on that now..when people pull from the cut off section I’m having trouble knowing wether to enter in pipe or tube at checkout.. I guess the answer is that with time I will be able to :/
Yess.
wt is 5 and 5S in piping schdule
S denotes SS pipe. Its thickness variation based on parent material like CS or SS
@@PipingMantra thnku so much sir
sir ss 316 having 20 schedule of 100nb pipe comes or not? actually I have seen only from 8 inch pipe 20 schedule will come or 30 shedule will come below 8 inch 20 or 30 sch will not come all schedule will come accpt 20 or 30 schedule?
very rapid
you mean very fast??
I mean that
it is to finish video as soon as possible with all information.... otherwise you will get bored.. you can play it lower tampo....
só espero que não caia na prova. rsrsrs.

Why the Milling Tolerance is 8/7 and Not 9/8 ?
its 12.5%. 12.5/100 =8/7
@@PipingMantra 12.5/100 is 0.125 and 8/7 is 1.1429
I am absolutely benefited from Your channel and Have found Out why it is 8/7 it is 1/0.875
omg!.. yes you are right.
i have checked by write up its 0.875 since we have minus 12.5% from overall thickness for mill tolerance.
I am very sorry for this mistake.. i will try to rectify it.
Thank you for pointing out this.
Big help👍👍
Piping Mantra! Your video is correct. Rohit Behera point is incorrect. While calculating thickness of the Pipe, negative mill tolerance of 12.5% is to be added, not to be minus. Hence, we need to divide the thickness calculated from the formula by 0.875. Hence we need to either divide by 7/8 (0.875) or multiply by 8/7.
Hence what you mentioned in your video is correct.
Piping Mantra! Thanks for liking my reply. Are you a Piping Material Engineer?
7/8 WHERE
You can multiply (100%-12.5%=0.875=7/8) this with standard thickness to check that standard thickness will work or not, if not move to one schedule higher thickness
@@PipingMantra so it's 7/8 not 8/7, is it right?
I could barley understand
you can ask your doubt...
@@PipingMantra what? Lmao "you can ask your doubt"
Please be slow
If you are not yet married.. here I am 😄
Too fast
Plz slow the speed of video from youtube setting ..
I have to finish it asap as many will be get bored on long video
Excellent!
