There's a great live performance of this song on You Tube. It's from the 1991 Dallas show.

That’s absolutely my favourite Mozza show. It’s the best and the pandemonium in the audience is just phenomenal.

My favorite song of this album is King Leer

Well!!!!! This song is basically genius.
“..... Her silent words describing the fight of last night. 4AM North Side Clapham Common, oh god, what was she doing there.....”
GENIUS. A deaf woman witnessing a crime. The police are pressuring her to be a main witness.
This Live In Dallas is ........

My hot take is that Kill Uncle is actually one of his best albums
    Our Frank
    Mute Witness
    King Leer
    Sing Your Life
There's a place In hell for me and my friends
    Driving your girlfriend home
    East west
All top tier and I feel his lyricism on this album is at its funniest

Such a maligned album, but all the Moz's magic is in the right places. Stand out tracks-all of it.

This song starts like a Supertramp or Toto track!
I don't think that you have done "National Front Disco" yet, Nick - yet another controversial track from Moz!

Great reaction Nick! Like many others, I am a member of the Kill Uncle appreciation society. A criminally underrated album and this song, along with so many others from this album, carry some of his best lyrics. Another poignant song, though from about 15 years after this, is "Sweetie Pie". You should definitely react to that, but specifically the Michael Farrell version (his pianist at the time) and not the B-side single version which, in my very strong opinion, lacks some of the sensitivity. Here's a link to it: th-cam.com/video/qDWGJpQiSMQ/w-d-xo.html

Great reaction Nick. I've always liked Mute Witness although it has its detractors. There are so many songs you still haven't reacted to, Come Back To Camden, In The Future When All's Well, Crashing Bores, etc. Etc.

You've done 4 from Kill Uncle now (King Leer, Sing Your Life and Driving Your Girlfriend Home) and enjoyed them all. Its a good album. 'Asian Rut' is one of the best from the album. Try that too. 'Our Frank' is also good.

This song always moves me profoundly, even though I have no idea how the scenario came to him, what he might have been responding to or what part a frisbee could play in a crime scene. It's pretty daring in it's ironic use of condescending language, presumably from the point of view of those conducting the courtroom proceedings (how he hates those practitioners of law). It reminds me of the phrase "does he take sugar?", which became the title of a long-running Radio 4 programme about disability, as well as the kind of controversial 'Play for Today" dramas that Morrissey would have been immersed in growing up. What's he trying to say? The role of the artist is to express things not expressible by conventional politics.
The three standout tracks from Kill Uncle are indeed Mute Witness, Found Found Found, the surprisingly upbeat Sing Your Life, and my reaction recommendation Driving Your Girlfriend Home.
He's just unleashed an uncompromising new song Bonfire of Teenagers. It's quite something, so expect some recommendations of that pretty soon.

Kill Uncle isn’t among my faves but it’s not without merit. And you haven’t done my fave from the record Our Frank. Some classic Moz lines in that one

I didn't get this for years, but apparently this song is about a girl who witnessed a UFO/flying saucer - hence the line about 'pointing to the frisbee' to describe it. Pretty far out!

I hate that galloping piano. So wrong. Many things on KU are just wrong, even the way Mozz's voice was laid on the tracks. Yet, I really like the album NOW. At the time... when I first listened to it... oh damn. It was all yawning and disappointment :)
