Excellent overview of these file types, and putting them in the context of when they were developed helped my understanding. The other unique thing about .fit files is I think they are the only type that can hold multiple sporting types in a single file. For example a single .fit file could hold an entire triathlon, with subsections for swimming, running and biking. Thanks again for a very useful video.

I have a big multi-day ride coming up, and the organizers sent a link to the route/track/course on Ride with GPS, which made me wonder enough about the file types to look for an explanation.
