On the "tonedeaf" app, I have a bachelor's in music therapy. Obviously I scored 100%. My sister took one semester of band in 6th grade. She score like 30%. I think most musicians inherently understand many of the metaphorical (and literal) translations we use for music. For example, can a note be "higher"? Is it physically above you? If it is, that doesn't really translate to pitch. You either understand the frequency relationships, or you kind of instinctively know "high" and "low"--probably from your upbringing. That said, knowing these metaphorical constructs is not the same as being inherently intelligent in the musical realm. It's like if someone gave you a "2+2=?" test and said "if you get 100%, you should be an astrophysicist!"
I'm not in band or that seriously into music but I thought it was blatantly obvious what the answers were. It doesn't matter, if you've got hearing (and aren't tone deaf) you should be able to get most, if not all, right.
The reason it rated 2 stars for regular singing, and 5 for talking is because you CLEARLY absorbed some rapping greatness from reviewing "it's every day bro"
I think we should have Brendon Urie sing into these. If it says it's Amazing 10/10 singing, then it's legit. If it says 'Okay' and only gives 2 stars than it's the most fake app ever and must be destroyed...
Lol, this is BS. No program can ever tell you whether you can sing or not - what constitutes as a good voice or not is subjective at the end of the day, unless you sing all the notes wrong (which is a different story).
The only app that could do that is if it possessed an algorythm (prefferably AI) that based it's results off a reference "good" singing clip, or, a skill test where the person must vocalize and have to hit correct notes, clarity when mimicing voices, etc... But tone and style is going to be hard to determine as, as you said they are indeed subjective off the standards of each individual person.
