DL will resume dialing back their program perks as soon as the current backlash dies down. You can be sure of that.

Exactly. Airlines don’t care about customers and they show us that by making flying miserable.

It’s all about what Is really essential…Do you really need to sit in a lounge or just get your ass to your destination in peace. If I gotta fly another airline I’m cool with it. If I pay for first class I’m just concerned with getting to my destination. Heck my sense of self worth doesn’t hinge on sitting in a lounge sucking back free liquor.

Delta Sky Miles should allow bonus points/miles to transfer from pretty much ANY rewards credit card!!! Being the only airline in Minneapolis, AND being in bed with American Express in a terrible thing for customers!

@@braapinthecommies Amex(non Delta card) allows you to transfer points to several partner airlines. With the Amex Delta, your points/miles transfer automatically to SkyMiles. I get it, but it would be nice to have the choice.

We the consumers are to blame. Most of us are more than happy to pay for cheap flights than better services and extra leg room. Air flying is a commodity market and most of us just pay attention to the price. Airlines is just adapting to consumer demands. That’s why all these discount airlines are so popular.

It’s not our fault. I grew up in the golden age of flying and worked in aerospace manufacturing for 20 years. It’s greed, it’s the giant mergers and it’s more profitable to treat customers like crap and give them nothing. They know you have no choice in travel, particularly international travel. They can do whatever they want. They are so rich and due to government deregulation, they are now too big to fail. It’s a really bad situation.

My new found loyalty to Delta depends on what changes are made again on their loyalty program. If they reverse what they had done a couple weeks ago, then I’ll stick with keeping status with other airlines because with the current program, technically speaking, I would’ve had to spend $80k to 90k to get the flight distance required in full fare business class to qualify for Diamond (I’d never do that because I can spend a lot less on UA or AA to get the same status) With the new program though, I wouldn’t have to spend as much money on flights to get Diamond so I’m in support of the new changes for right now.

I live in metro Atlanta, so delta is pretty much the only option since I prefer direct flights even I have to pay extra. Learned a lesson before by missing my layover flight due to bad weather. It cuts my vacation short and it is not worth it.

The problem is that Delta and other airlines create points out of thin air and sell them to banks with co-branded credit cards. It's impossible to determine the value of those points until they are used. I've been guilty of not redeeming my points and spending cash on Delta tickets because I wanted to earn my way towards elite status. You can't do that with point redemptions because you won't earn miles flown or progress to elite status when you fly with points. Now I'm going to spend down my points with Delta and shop by solely by price and not loyalty.
