Going in a two week private Tanzanian safari this summer can’t wait…we did two night stays everywhere so we can change up days if kids get tired bored ect.

We are planning on a trip to Kenya this April it will be my 3rd time but to my frustration, I had never been on a Safari yet. This time around I would love my 7yr old son to experience the real Kenyan Safari but I have no idea which tour company allows kids on their Safari tours. Please help me out on this

I’m in a similar situation. But is an official safari necessary? Can we just rent a car and go the parks on our own?

You actually can. I am actually thinking of walking through how I would go on Safari as a local and how to do it as well. Is this something you would be interested in?

@@EastAfricaTravelTips Yes, very much so. I'm thinking to just rent a car with a tent on top and go for it, but obviously don't want to put ourselves in undue danger. Basics on how to DIY camp would be great. Can we sleep on the ground? Do we need a gun? Can we get one? Keep the fire going all night? That kind of thing.

What's your aim here... Is it to do your own custom adventure?, Save money?, or something else? I would like to address the main need in showing you how to customise a safari.
There are a number of constraints like you can't carry a gun in most African nations unless you are licenced and this is a long and difficult process even for citizens.
There are also other restrictions like you can only camp in designated areas and not all parks allow self camping.
There is also the fact that a guide is usually the main reason you will find some of the rare to find animals. This is because they usually network with other guides about what rare animals they have spotted.

@@EastAfricaTravelTips Thank you for the reply. Those are all useful tips. The goal is to experience a bit more freedom, to get away from noisy groups, schedules, the structure imposed by a company. Just to be in nature. Saving money is always nice, but more than that the goal is to be immersed in an experience that doesn't feel packaged or contrived.
