This is genius-level entrepreneurship. How do you debunk the mystery behind an overhyped pedal, convince consumers that you don't need the most expensive gear to sound good, yet at the same time promote and innovate your own brand to remain competitive in the market? Make a DIY pedal kit! Josh Scott is BRILLIANT
There's always going to be people who believe Bill's claim that his mystery germanian 1N34A diodes that he claims he has cornered, are the real thing worth paying for. Or that the original 1st version sounds that much more sweeter. We're dealing with people who believe in magical things like tonewood, tubes or pickups after all. And who took to paying big money for the Digitech Bad Monkey are watching Josh's video. And there are of course always those people who LOVE the bragging rights for owning an $8000 first edition Klon. Look at me, peons and despair! I got an original Klon!
The kids are hilarious, and watching them interact with the dads is absolutely heartwarming. It's like Hallmark started a pedal company. Like, I might have cried a little.
Ordered one to build with my daughter, the instructions are so clear and the kit organized that it only took us about 30 minutes to put together. I had her sign her name along with mine on the inside plate and then she drew a centaur drawing a bow and arrow on the outside. As an addition to helping me spend time with my daughter, and help her get into guitar and music overall, the pedal also helped me musically. It helped bring in the flubby low end on my high gain amp and I’m now getting the tightest modern metal chugs I’ve ever gotten. This isn’t some edge of breakup, 70’s dad rock only pedal, although it excels at that. Mess around with the knobs, both on the amp and your pedals, that’s what they’re there for, and breathe new life into your playing. JHS thanks a million for making this pedal a DIY project. That pedal is staying on my board both for the memories and the sonic capabilities.
One thing that will never get old is Josh‘s equation to cups of coffee. I get the impression that he has his employees buy him coffee and this is what they say how much he owes them. Never thought to question how the price of coffee increased by 1000% in the last two years…

An entire line of JHS built-it-yourself pedals would actually be genius and hugely beneficial to musicianship and music education. You tend to learn better making it yourself.
Not only is this the greatest product announcement video I have ever seen, I ordered one and will build it with my kids. I fully support everything about this.
Got mine in the mail today and I managed to get it together without even cracking open the instructions. It sounds great! I don't have a Klon to compare with it, but I also don't really understand the fascination with expensive gear.
All those wannabe Content Creators would do well to view this and learn from it. This is brilliance through and through and Millie & Ethan are as cute and convincing as can be! I'm ordering one!
I think what is most interesting is they are also pushing the industry with some of their ideas and return to boutique kind of feel. The Boss collab for example blew me away.
Pedal wise JHS never impressed me. Taking existing designs and tweaking them a little bit. In the DIY pedal community he used to be a bit of a joke. And pedal kits are a dime a dozen now. His channel, humor and online personality are however amazing and his love for pedals shines through. I still think Wampler or Earthquaker are far more original in their designs though.
Those kids are adorable, lol. I loved their input on this episode. This is the first time I've been remotely interested in buying a Klone. JHS marketing is insane. It's crazy that they packed all of that into a $99 package.
@@INeverWanted2010 Don't worry, it's just an old standard joke dragged out to salve my irritation INW. @@INeverWanted2010 Sorry you feel that way my friend. It's good to live in a world where people can take someone having a different opinion. Buddy - I got to tell you. I have purchased a few pedals from you just because these videos are so funny and because of the quality of your pedals and the sounds. Your dedication to the work does not go unnoticed. Thank you.
I’ve been waiting/hoping for the JHS Klon to be rereleased, and this “some assembly required” approach is exactly why I held-out for a JHS Klon. Thank you for picking-out my Christmas-present to myself. 🤘🏻
This is so great. From great pedals to the musical to the documentaries to this project - the whole vibe at JHS makes me want to buy more JHS pedals and support what y’all are doing in the world. Thank you to all at JHS for what you do!
People have been rightfully praising the genius of this product. This definitely did give us a behind-the-scenes glimpse of what makes JHS great: if you can raise children that bright and delightful, running a business is easy. Congrats to the Scott and Loux families! Also, the pedal is really cool.
It sounds exactly the same!!! I am definitely getting one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have the JHS AT+ pedal, and it is the best overdrive I'd ever used. JHS are among the best pedal makers in the world.
Ok man I really really love this. I think I'm going to buy one and save it for a few years when my daughter is old enough to put it together, I think it could be a really great father/daughter bonding project. She already loves messing with my amps and pedals and pretending she's demoing the gear I'm playing, so I think she'll love making one herself. This is such a cool take on pedal kits and I hope to see more in the future.
This is genius. Let’s just hope the swedish branch of JHS never tries to release a shelf with the same name. The chances are never really zero. Also I vote for a more advanced version that involves soldering. The Klønsense. On the other hand, I don’t wanna deal with the tiny SMD components… damn. 😂
If creating this kit results in nothing more than the video of two kids having so much fun putting it together, you will have provided more unalloyed goodness to this world than 95% of all politicians (of whatever party) who have ever lived -- and at least a handful of weather forecasters as well. Respect. (If even one of them is yours, you are indeed fortunate among men. And anyone unwilling to wait patiently for the demo clearly has no soul.) [I am in batch 4, and should receive mine just in time for my birthday. Thx. Now do a "Leslie"!]
I never thought it would be cool to have kids until I saw this video. These two are so cute, you must be very proud fathers. Congrats! (on both the kids and ofc on the success of the pedal kit)
You guys are great ! The humor, the taste, the good vibes and the no BS ! You are a one of a kind company ! Thank you P.s. Your kids are just adorable haha!
I think this is the greatest video I've seen in years. Researching Klon clone pedals and I watched this video. Getting our younger generation into music in any form is a win. Congratulations. Now I should buy one of these. Thank you

So many cool funny informative videos from Josh. This one is no exception. Your kids really make it fun. Looks like a good pedal. Thanks Josh, I appreciate what you do.
One of my favorite things here is that the kids experienced the intgrated PCB wrenches and now have a strong early example of creative efficiency. Those experiences create perspective.
“You’re not being mocked, your my father.” Perfect sarcasm. Josh, you never fail to make me smile with your videos. This is great, both the video, the product and the concept…wait, that’s three things…anyway, it’s all great.
Genius!⚡️ Josh, your approach as Brand with creativity, passion, humor and generosity makes me believe in a better future in this cruel, unfair and empty capitalist world. I’m a huge fan of your passionate talent , culture and dedication with pedals always warming technology musically. But you and your JHS family are showing the world that is possible to make a brand and a business in a totally healthy and sincere way. You guys not just creates amazing products, but you are creating a new concept of business as a whole! Truly inspiring! For me, it’s the future.🤘🏼⚡️♥️
The most wholesome video you have ever put out, those kids are adorable, I hope to see them again in future videos. Oh, and take my money I’m ordering a notaklon!
I love this idea. I bought it because it’s an amazing marketing idea that resolves Josh’s moral conundrum (It’s not a Klon until you build it). I assembled it today. It was easy and fun to assemble. It’s a really great sounding pedal. Definitely on my board. All I need is the right sticker. Ravens? Bats?

Josh is such a gem. This looks like so much fun. Definitely want one of these kits, just for the fun of it. I'm sure it sounds great too :P
🖤🖤🖤
Just ordered! Looks to be a fun quick project and great sounding pedal for only 2 cups of coffee! Thanks guys and gals!
Amazing product idea, but the presentation and the joy of the kids is just epic. As a dad of 2 teen girls I can tell you I am in tears (in the best way)❤❤❤
This is possibly the best advert I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t not buy this. I stopped the video halfway to go and order one and was still excited to watch to the end.
Justin thank you for everything we are so lucky to have you, this is the golden age of guitar pedals and you are a huge part of that ❤
Finally, some professionals on the show!...lol. the kids were awesome!
This is one of the best things and funnest shows that you have ever done!
Thank you! They look like they were having a blast. One of those times where being a parent is awesome too!
This is by far the very best product idea I've seen in a long time! Great timing, great product, even a great name! The video is a great combination of entertainment, product demo, and marketing all in one! I'm definitely grabbing one for Xmas myself!
Congrats on the amazing work, JSH!
Im like 40 seconds in the video and I already want one regardless of the sound... Brilliant idea Josh, I want to build it with my kids
LMFAO Including Goop to add magic and hide the secret sauce is genius
Truly brilliant, would love to see more pedals in this line.
Your kids are freaking adorable, and right on brand for this project.
This is such a cool take on pedal kits and I hope to see more in the future.
the most wholesome comment in all of yt. I REALLY hope you do this!!!
Any chance to bond is a good one. You win the internet today.
This has forever raised the bar on so many levels. Well done!
Received mine after waiting nearly 8 months for it. It was so worth the wait! Fun to build, and it has a mindblowing sound to it!
This is just hilarious and awesome. Very clever and you're not breaking your handshake agreement. Very cool idea!
Damn, the ingenuity AND THE CHARM never stops at JHS! Love it! ❤
I do not care about a Klon. But, good Lord, what a wonderful video. The kids made my day. Definitely in the top 3 of my "video of the year" poll. 🙂
I soldered a klon clone by myself, but this marketing campaign is hilarious. You've convinced me, I want to lego this pedal. Take my money!
I've struggled with soldering on kits, which is why I'm excited to get this one. I hope these do well and that there are more!
You are, by far, not the only person.
Soldering sucks.
You guys are great ! The humor, the taste, the good vibes and the no BS ! You are a one of a kind company ! Thank you P.s. Your kids are just adorable haha!
You know how I know you're in a cult?
Tell me more please !
I gotta say, you’ve made something very special in your company. Much respect and continued success
I think this is the greatest video I've seen in years. Researching Klon clone pedals and I watched this video. Getting our younger generation into music in any form is a win. Congratulations. Now I should buy one of these. Thank you
Rapidly becoming my favourite channel. Entertaining AND informative.
This is so cool. One of the best ideas I've ever seen. This is going to be an amazing Christmas morning present and activity. Awesome Josh and crew. Thanks!
So many cool funny informative videos from Josh. This one is no exception. Your kids really make it fun. Looks like a good pedal. Thanks Josh, I appreciate what you do.
This is adorable and hilarious and really cool. Love everything about the video and the product.
The kids are awesome..
Great idea & great job..
Absolutely identical !!!!!👏👏
The Klon had that vibration going on. Definetly different. Close enough though, I guess.
I honestly can't talk myself out of buying this. Best case it sounds awesome and I learn things. Worst case I just learn things.
Ravens? Bats?
I think that's my Xmas present sorted out! 😉I haven't built a pedal kit since the 1980s - but it was great fun, and I was ridiculously proud of the result! 😉This is a fantastic idea - and the video is amazing! Full marks to the kids - outstanding! 😎
