You can go to divisoria even if your a tourist but just take extra care because pick pocketer there are very slick and stay away from alleys specially at night when your all alone.

trivia: tutuban market used to be a train station built by the americans in the turn of the century...you will notice in the main building the art deco iron railings and foundatiin is still there ☺️

Well of course you don't bring your valuables with you when going to a place like divisoria but to say that it's no place for tourists? why? the vendors there are working hard to earn decent money and if you are going to be careful, I do not see any reason why you cannot have a good time shopping for good bargains. To be fair, I go to divisoria a lot and since I practice good common sense, like never bringing valuables and putting my backpack in front of me I have never ever encountered any untoward incident.
U just don’t display ur valuables that are easy for them to snatch or something that’s like an invitation for them. Have a sling bag and make sure it’s in front of u and not at ur back. No expensive jewelries on your body, and make sure u don’t go on an alley that has few people around. We’re ur at is fine. Filipinos are very friendly but just like anywhere else in the world you’ll find someone diff

Buying clothes is fine. Buying computer stuff is iffy. I got a usb stick and it was defective. It was half the price of Megamall so I thought I got a good deal but the memory was half of advertised and I kept getting write errors.

If you notice most of the items in divisoria has a price tag so you'll never find yourself feeling ripped off specially since the prices here are already cheap even by local standards. Divisoria is a wholesale market and a lot of the places in the Philippines source their items from divisoria. You can find practically everything here. I once found myself inside a building in divisoria and I realized that building are all toys so imagine a whole building of toys. I mean that's just one example. Just don't bring your valuables when going to divisoria.

Actually, there is no safe place for a foreign national when visiting other countries, it's just that you just have to take extra careful, not just for your belongings but most importantly your self. I have never had any inssues in Manila, other then getting scammed once by the Taxi driver. Crime does happen, however, so always be aware of your surroundings. I go to the Philippines all the time. Mahal na mahal ang Pilipinas.

Yeah ok foreigners aren't allowed in Divisoria, we bought a bunch a baby stuff there in 2004 and it was worse then it is now....
Then a new mayor cleaned it all up but after be left office to run for president, it went back to its old ways, but not as bad as before....
Best to always go there during day but night isn't to bad just stay in the brighter main areas etc....
An yeah the biggest problem is pickpockets, just stay aware like any crowded area, like anywhere in the world especially around tourists or bargain market areas....
I have been there many time including with my teen kids..
I just left Davao and I miss it!!!

Love the food market...Don't eat any street food..fruits is OK...I've lived there and even I won't eat those foods in the province maybe it's OK...I'm Filipino but still I have to see how they prefer those street food...just go to the nearest clean restaurant stay safe...

just make sure that all of your money are in a bag in front of you at all times. dont wear jewelries and count your change and money before and after you paid for an item. other than that it is an enjoyable experience to shop there. i usually buy items there in whole sale for our business. we often haggle with the store sellers because they thought we are pure chinese. :)

Divisoria have many pickpockets that is why even locals are careful and avoid wearing made of real gold earrings,necklace,bracelets,or wristwatch coz they will become victims of holduppers and robbers.
There is no such rule saying tourist isn't allowed in Divisoria, locals probably just don't recommend them going there because of crimes usually happens in that area.
