so I left Vietnam to move to Calgary, Canada 6 years ago. Yes I've settled here, have kids, house, job and everything, I'm able to provide my family and live a comfortable life here. I would love to call Canada my second home, this country has been so nice to us from the very beginning when I set foot in this land. But tbh I don't think I'm gonna stay here forever. It's not because I don't love Canada, it's just the feel of belonging is different from what I feel in Vietnam, one day maybe I'll move back.
I'm glad that some Viets (2nd generations) like you guys start coming to Vietnam and reconnecting with Vietnam's culture. Just be open-mind I think, everything will be ok. Vietnam is developing fast and has lots of opportunities for you to growth. Good luck. P/s: Bibi is cute.

I appreciate that she talked about being bullied and racialized because of being mixed. That was widespread at schools and in the family. But looks like she could handle that and she's content now. Best of luck!
Ontario Canada here and it is very pricey for rent. The average 1 bedroom apt here is 2200.00 ane people can't afford to buy a house. We are thinking of selling it all as retirees and living in thailand.
Same here (Waterloo)... but there is a difference between PERMANENT and just visiting for a long period of time...What about paperwork of becoming a real LEGAL resident in the new country and not just visiting and do VISA runs?? also we cannot be out of the country for more than 6 months at a time before there is consequences...etc.
I think Bibi might actually be a keeper if she is with a right guy who appreciates her sense of humor and quirky personality. It takes courage to just move to a new country and with $8K and without a solid plan. I wish her best of luck in Vietnam.

blowing $6000 a month in VN is like blowing $30,000-$40,000 in the US. How can anyone be partying that hard, unless you go to one of those nightclub which requires you to get several bottle services. I've been to those places, and it's overpriced garbage!
A lot of these videos on YT (about living/moving to VN) never provide info regarding "paperwork"... I'm ok with the financial aspect ...but the fact that I cannot be out of the country (Canada) for more than 6 months or else I would lose my status...etc. Sure, I would love to permanently live in SE Asia...but if I lose my status AND not become a legal resident of a SE Asian countries...what then???? It is still only $48K USD per year. Waaay cheaper than living in Monréal. Quite interesting, my niece and nephew are half Vietnamese and half Syrian. When they are in the US, we think they look more Syrian than Vietnamese. When they visited Syria, their Syrian relatives think they look more Vietnamese than Syrian. Love this kind of interviews. Here's what chatgpt said. The word you're referring to, "dipaisy," is likely "dépayser." This French term has several meanings, but it generally refers to the feeling of being disoriented or out of place, especially when someone is in an unfamiliar environment. It can also mean to change one's surroundings or to give someone a sense of being in a different place. In English, it is sometimes translated as "to disorient" or "to make feel out of place." In a more positive context, it can also imply the refreshing change of scenery.
Dépayser includes the French word "Pays" which translate to "Country" so together with the prefix "De" basically becomes the verb version which means "Out of country". I think she meant be ready to be appreciate the change of scenery and to be challenged by the difference in culture
