Great video! On SNES, this was called Mechwarrior 3050.
Fun fact, you could play 2 player where one player controlled the legs and one controlled aiming and firing the weapons.

Oh this is a brutal game. I played it on the SNES and the best I could achieve was reaching the third level. It only gets harder 🙃
The strat that worked for me was being stingy with the ammo and just focusing entirely on the objectives - which kind of works against the fantasy of being an unstoppable mech and lying waste to foes. You can still stomp on the little humans tho

Played this co-op with friends many years ago.
The real key to this game is remembering to either use long range missiles to snipe things before they can shoot at you or to use powerful charge up weapons for smashing mechs really fast.
Other than that, remember where your ammo and coolant drops are and go back and pick them up as needed before another big fight.
Although this game is a brawling smash em up it really does require a bit of planning, patience and practice to do well at, much like the strike games.

Thanks for the tips. I do plan on playing this more as I see the potential. Thanks for watching!

I remember this game being advertised in the Mechwarrior 2 Guidebook as Mechwarrior 3050. I was mostly upset it never came out on PC. I was rather young at the time and even though I was of the SNES/GENESIS generation, my parents never bought me one, so I had to make do with the family x486 which I didn't own very many games, I only ever got games on my birthday or Christmas so I had to be very selective with what I wanted; So most games outside of that I played while hanging out with friends and my uncle who did own consoles but they had no interest in Battletech at all so they never had this game, any of them. My first console was the N64 and at that point I was getting an allowance and money from relatives for my birthday, which I saved to buy a lot of games.
Funny how the MechAssault games are actually spiritual successors to this game and that was what the FASA devs were going for at the time of development, but they were very poorly received because at that point in time what fans wanted was Mechwarrior Sims on consoles, not a 3rd person arcade game, so most Battletech fans didn't even bother picking up the title, meanwhile non-fans bought it because it was an early LIVE title when there was literally nothing else to play on LIVE and they had a blast, I as well, because I liked anything Battletech, I wasn't a snob, I had a lot of fun in multiplayer, same with the sequal, whom was mostly bought by people who bought the original.

Great Video! Can you rotate the cockpit separatly from the legs?
isn't that difficult with a genesis controller?

Unfortunately not, I even checked the manual after recording, and the game was designed for 3 button controller only. Would have been a great idea, so missed opportunity! Thanks for watching!

You can rotate on the SNES iirc with the L and R buttons.

@@StarRightStarTight I could have sworn I saw the mech walk in one direction and aiming into another, maybe I'm imagining things
