    Please make a comprehensive video showing the upgrade of the project. I've recently acquired a mobility scooter for my mother and thought of using a PV panel as a roof and for mobile charging too, but don't have the knowledge on how to go about completing this. A full tutorial would be greatly appreciated!

    Not all batteries can supply enough current to the scooter. When the battery has a protection circuit, it cuts off the current. If not, it may overheat and catch fire.

    Also the speed is in Km/h they restricted to 15mph which on bike paths feels fast enough or you change the speed controller and ride on road at 30mph 45 Km/h. 👍

      Yes.. to my understanding,, certain lanes are segregated for scooters and bikes,, but,, some highways have scooter lanes but,, they need to run a minimum speed to be legal to run on highway lanes set aside for them. Im sure laws n rules are vastly different from state to state

    But don't the lead acid batteries have more amp hours than the power tool batteries?

    • @generalawareness101
      @generalawareness101 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most of those SLAs are around 6 to 9 amp, so it could be less since his two 24v are 6 amps. Now a 2s2p would be more and weight far less than the big beast 12 amp 12v SLA I have seen.

    how do you handle under voltage issues with the lithium battery/charger? Do you have any way to prevent over discharging the batteries? I thought that this problem was handled by the tools in the standard application. Does the battery gauge on the dash actually reflect the battery usage?

      And a bigger motor. Then using ebike style battery will have a greater top speed and possibly range for the same overall weight.

    Hi, thank you for the great information you are sharing, I need your help,
    I have a zt15(
    A highly resistant set of 4 Lead-Acid AGM batteries for model ZT15 and DRACO. This set consists of four 20 Ah cells,)
    mobility scooter from velobike and unfortunately the battery has died, and the company does not have it, and it is not on the market anywhere in the UK. I couldn't find it, my question is what battery can I replace it to make my scooter work??

  • @jobbingactor
    @jobbingactor ปีที่แล้ว

    I did that. Of note is a resistor on speed controller. I bypassed that and got much faster standing start. (getting ready for old age)

  • @Dellicous

    You've upped the voltage, now you have to up the output from the controller.

    But if you switch to power tools batters yes but it won't last long before you got to recharge.

  • @patomahony9747
    @patomahony9747 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Personally these trikes go fast enough but plenty of room to fit an ebike battery and different controller. In fact have seen higher power motors on sale as well
    Same weight but double the range.
    My zetti ,even with my heavy weight as far forward as possible , will pull a wheelie if throttle snapped open. So mine has anti tip wheels on the rear.

    Ewheels make recreational scooters as well as mobility scooters. The mobility scooters do not go as fast as this one. They also have a tighter turning radius than this one. This is a recreational scooter, not a mobility scooter. It is not designed for inside homes and retail stores. It is designed for the road.

    I have 2 lead acid 10 ah total and have a lithium RV battery 100 ah. All are 12.8 v. The lead acid batteries are soldered in. If I took them out and replace with a single lithium battery would it work? Would I have to dissconect the spare/ loose cables or mask them with gaffa tape?

    How'd you go with the E-wheel project mate... Im keen to know what sort of time duration you can get out of those 2 x 24v batteries before re-charging. I have a Pride where the lead acid batteries are buggered and would like to consider some sort of lithium upgrade. I live way outback in NSW Australia and nobody near to do work on the scooter so I might be able to do this myself.

    • @JordanHaisley

      Most scooters and power chairs are 24v. I have one I converted to use the kobalt 24v batteries. Range is nearly unlimited since you can just swap batteries.
      Also when comparing to lead acid remember that these can be almost fully discharged where lead can only be discharged to at most 50%

      @@JordanHaisley Thanks for reply mate... I've jumped in a bought a hand made 24v lithium the size of a car battery. The bloke I bought from cuts up the old cases and builds a new battery in the old case. Its going alright so far but only used it for a week. Massive saving in weight compared to the old 2 x 75ah AGM's

    Would it be possible to connect two or more EGO batteries in parallel to get more runtime? Or do you need some sort of balancer between the batts?
