Carnival needs to turn the corner on a couple things, the first being a 100% crackdown on any type of fighting. A fine is great but most times the offender will not pay it. Cruise lines need to be in communication with each other so that if you fight on any ship you are banned from EVERY SHIP across all cruise lines. Secondly, it is TIME for Carnival to 100% crackdown on on-board drug use.
First off, thank you Professor Melissa for making these videos. My wife and I have been on several cruises all on Carnival, and yes we are Carnival junkies. In the cruises we have taken, we've never had a bad experience and have never witnessed such activities. Granted we usually only cruise in the off season, but who can blame Carnival for these actions. It's the people that create these problems for themselves. Thanks again, my wife and I love your content.
I strongly agree. I've Cruised Carnival over 20 years including twice this year and have never experienced a arguement or fight. I think Melissa's ideas are right on. I pay too much money to Cruise, fly in and stay at a Hotel to encounter this crap. I've been on numerous other Cruise lines, but I really enjoy Carnival
The unfortunate thing about raising the prices to keep the “world star” crowd from doing what they do, is that there are plenty of people, couples and families who would be priced out unfairly. Decent, respectful people who would never participate in the animal behavior, but are struggling to find extra money just for a short fun vacation. Do they deserve to be punished for not being wealthy enough for a seven day trip? I don’t see any solution, honestly. The problem people are not afraid of actual police officers. Do you really think they will be intimidated by a security guard? No. Not even a little bit. And a fine? Not ever going to pay it. Ban them for sure, but more will just take their place. When it gets so bad that they are Carnival’s only clientele and all the Carnival employees quit because they can’t take it anymore, maybe they will come up with a strategy. I hope so anyway. I haven’t cruised since 2008. Leaving out of Galveston in September. This may be our first of many with Carnival, or the last one ever, depending on the topic of this video.
You make some very good points and it IS sad for very respectful people, who happen to be lower earners on a tight budget, to be branded as anti social ‘trashy booze cruisers’. The biggest issue in my opinion is the drinks policy specific to Carnival (setting a 15 drink limit just makes people determined to get their money’s worth and drink to the absolute limit with disastrous consequences). Many cruise lines don’t have a drinks package option on cruises of less than 7 days (Carnival unfortunately is not one of them) because the urge to ‘drink yourself silly’ on a short break is too tempting for many people to resist. If cruise companies en masse made short sailings ‘pay as you go’ the problem would be more or less solved immediately imo.
I have been on 11 cruises and 10 of it on Carnival. Never, Ever have I witnessed fighting or anything close. 2 have been out of Miami for weekend cruise. We pick carnival over RC due to room size.
That pizza fight was crazy. I have run into some pretty nasty folks on ships but fortunately haven't ever seen a fight. Good discussion and tips on the hotspots areas for fights.
Or just travel on Princess, celebrity and NCL. Yes occassinsaly there are issues but nothing like Carnival. You should not have to get tips on how to avoid physical altercations on your vacation. No Guys burger or chocolate melting cake is worth that.
I've Cruised Carnival for over 20 years and I've never ever witnessed a arguement or fight. I concur with your recommendations as I'm not interested in paying money to see idiots fight.
I won’t take Carnival on a five day or less cruise, due to this trash behavior. They need to dumped off next port, cruise ship industry ban, 10.000 fine, plus criminal charges. All these cruise lines due by not enforcing is giving themselves a bad name.
So you didn't say the truth about the cruise ship brawls. Its one specific type of person. Stop lying about this stuff man. Its getting really tiring with you people lying about this stuff
Melissa, I got a sales call from my "personal cruise embassidor " yesterday wanting me to book my next cruise on Carnival. I already have 3 cruises booked for 2025. I'm getting ready to book my fourth. None of them will be on Carnival. I just don't do Ghetto. That's the bottom line. That's the cause of the trouble. Everyone knows it. And I just don't know what Carnival can do about it. So sad.
Getting kicked off the ship in Bimini, Bahamas is nothing in terms of consequence. Bimini is only about 50 miles from Florida, they have water shuttles that go back and forth several times a day.
I've seen one suggestion that might help. Don't offer drink packages on the short sailings. Make the passengers pay per drink. Takes away the incentive to "Max out their drink packages"
I don't want to spend my precious vacation avoiding things or places, just avoid the problem entirely. I cruised on Carnival many times, and I am sad to see the current affairs. Royal or Celebrity is a better use of my money and time.
seems to be more and more on Carnival. Like you said it happens more on the shorter cruises that are cheaper and attract a lower class of people. I know that might not be politicly correct to say but it's just fact. Carnival needs to really crack down on them and stop such behavior
I’m either lounging on my balcony or in my room after 10 pm. I’ve never seen a brawl because I’m not where they usually happened. I turn on my fan so I don’t even hear what’s going on in the hallway.
Usual suspects... It's crazy that it's always the same trashy folks causing these fights. That's why I'll never cruise on Carnival and especially not 4-5 day cruises.
Brawls on cruise ships are very concerning to me. If I see a brawl taking place, I move away immediately from the scene and I leave it to the shipboard security to handle the situation.
I’ve done 13 Cruises. 2 with Royal, 1 Pullmantur and 10 with NCL to keep earning passenger benefits and I’ve never seen an incident but I don’t stay up late at bars. So I guess whatever has happened I didn’t see. What I see on social media is Carnival incidents during the day.
Comments: 1) Carnival really attracts a much rougher crowd that is rowdy from the time they get to the airport. The crowd is very loud. 2) Carnival does NOT cut off people when they are drunk if they have NOT met the 15 drink maximum. 3) When I look at the Carnival "security", the y tend to look like the mall guards that you see in the Philippines. They tend to be smallish women who have been used to working as a member of a security group. They ougt to recruit some former college football players that will be able to break up fights.
Brawls are typical of people who drink too much. I have been on 7 NCL cruises, all were a week long, and have never seen this kind of behavior. Perhaps the drink package should not include unlimited alcohol, if any.
You are delusional if you deny that this behavior isn’t virtually exclusive to Carnival Cruise ships. It’s not Carnival’s fault. It is the clientele they attract. 🤷♂️
@@michaelvitale4029 ??? Where did I suggest poor behavior was exclusive to cruise ships? I was identifying how cruise ships can reduce the incidences of this behavior by raising the price and not providing 3 night weekend cruises. Any cruise guests gets out of hand with threats: may it be verbal, physical, hostile or threatening out to banned for life. Cruise stop selling low cheap deals, that’s an invite to unwanted behavior .
If they do away with “the drink package “ and make anyone wanting a drink pay for each one as it’s ordered. The cost alone might slow the over drinking down.
@@LittleCasino65nothing to do with drink package. NCl gives entire package free and people drink all day no limit yet nothing close to the issues carnival has. Its the only cruise line that consistently has these issues
Booze cruises generate a lot of revenue for the cruise lines. The fighting just appears to be an accepted behavior. The bean counter says no big deal as the revenue keeps on flowing and the booze cruise clientele keeps on coming.
MSC Seashore is a nice ship but their food was the worst. Sorry you get what you pay for Carnival and MSC are not good lines. The stats don't lie more fight on Carnival and that's a fact. I'll stay with Princess, Celebrity and Holland American. Here's a thought avoid Carnival and fights are rare
There are different types of cruisers based on the length of the cruise and were you embark from. Cruising from Florida the passengers are predominantly families and older people. Leaving from NYC , you get a more pushy vibe. We would never cruise with Carnival again because they have too many issues with supervising the passengers. Also, there needs to be a limit on drinks. People drink unlimited and things go downhill quickly.
If you get kicked off a cruise for fighting you should be fined $5K and banned from cruising on any cruise line.
Carnival needs to turn the corner on a couple things, the first being a 100% crackdown on any type of fighting. A fine is great but most times the offender will not pay it.
