I'm convinced the next Mario Kart will be titled, "Mario Kart XL" as opposed to 10 or X. For various reasons: #1. Normal people can still READ. How is calling Mario Kart 9 or 10 or X or whatever it’s called “Mario Kart 2” not the most confusing thing of all time? It’s MORE confusing than calling it any of those other ones I just said. In conclusion, please keep making more bad takes, I unironically like hearing them.
I think you're diving into the semantics too much. They would have called Tour 9 if they wanted it be seen as the next evolution in the series. They definitely aren't going to call the new game "Mario kart Switch 2" So there's a high probability it'll be called 9 for the sake of driving home that simple point of "This is the successor to 8 deluxe."
I would sooner count Mario Kart LIVE Home Circuit as a mainline entry simply because it's on Switch hardware. If Mario Kart Tour is mainline, what's stopping Super Mario Run from being considered a mainline 2D Mario? What's stopping the Arcade GP Mario Karts from being mainline? If we count a mobile game then nothing's off the table right??? If Tour is mainline it's still not Mario Kart X or 10 or whatever. It's Mario Kart 13.
@@bloodmuzzle They actually *DID* count Run as mainline during the 35th anniversary, also, Home Circuit and the three Arcade games are actual spinoffs, it doesn't take a genius to play those four games for even a minute to figure that out.
Nintendo considered SUPER MARIO RUN as a mainline game during the 35th Aniversary. Tour was definitely 9 for better or worse and was labeled as such internally during development.
If mario run was mainline, then mario kart tour is definitely mainline. Seriously, they put a lot more effort into mkt than mario run, and it's even a whole lot higher quality. The people that say mkt isn't mainline are people who haven't actually played or seen the game, they just think "mobile = bad, so not mainline".
Super Mario Run is a traditional game, you just can't stop walking to the right. Mario Kart Tour is an in-app purchase game and its tracks were added to Mario Kart 8DX. So considering it Mario Kart 9 makes zero sense.
@comDotB They're both in-app purchase games though. I know this because I paid for more levels and tickets. Neither are traditional but they are still treated as regular games. Mario Kart Tour had a ton of content that wasn't carried over and Pauline and Kamek were considered "returning characters" and not new and Tour tracks will probably return to future games so it's mainline unlike the arcade games.
Everyone calling it by these 30 speculative names will just confuse things. Until we get the official name, to most people's minds it will be 9, as Tour doesn't deserve to be called the 9th main entry. Ideally everyone just says "the next mario kart" or "the upcoming mario kart" until information is confirmed.
I think mario kart 9 makes the most since. Mk tour wasnt a home console game, and not enough people played it for it to be considered (in my eyes) mario kart 9
6:52 dude Everyone knows it’s actually called Mario kart 8 Saying people who bought the game and played it for Years wouldn’t Know it has an 8 in it is INSANE
I should start calling myself GettingMadz, because Mario Kart 2 is a horrible idea 😅. The casual players will be confused because it's the game after 8, the hardcore players..... will be confused because it's the game after 8
Mario Kart 64 was going to be called Super Mario Kart R. Unrelated to the original point but I feel like that would’ve been a completely different canon event for Nintendo
From the artstyle, it looks like it takes a lot of inspiration from MarioKart 64, so until we get an official name, I will refer to it as MarioKart 65.
@ because it’s not really a mainline game otherwise u would see it referenced or incorporated in a console Mario kart. The reason is tour is mainline but mainly because Nintendo likes to have one mario kart game per console. Mario kart live home circuit is more like a toy then an actual game. That’s why they added tour tracks in 8dx since it’s mainline if it wasn’t they would never add tour tracks in 8dx in the first place
"l and r to bump into enemies" that already exists in another racing game from several years ago that was recently turned into an NSO game for the switch which is F-ZERO
referring to your first claim that tour is mario kart 9 (please note im under a minute through the vid) i present to you the pikmin series in the order they came out (unless i made a mistake): pikmin pikmin 2 nintendo land spin off game pikmin 3 hey pikmin pikmin bloom pikmin 4 even if we dont count nintendo land that makes pikmin 4 into pikmin 5 or 6 and pikmin bloom is still getting active support (i think) and yet, its still pikmin 4...
@oinkitysploink sonic frontiers, everything Ubisoft has shit out, palworld... It's more subjective than anything, but there's examples as to why it's the ''easy route'' for shitty triple AAA games when it's more of a marketing move than actually the backbone of the gameplay (too much handholding and icons on maps) and it's tiring just seeing the same genre over and over again. People need to realize linear is GOOD

Idk, as an outside observer, I’d say Mario Kart 9 does make the most sense. Mario Kart Tour is a mobile game. That’s basically the definition of a spin-off title. Sure, it might’ve gotten a lot of tracks in 8 Deluxe, but that’s likely because they didn’t want them to go unnoticed trapped in a spin-off. With the Switch 2 being backwards compatible, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is likely going to keep circulating in retail stores, so if both are going to be on the shelves together, having “Mario Kart 9” makes more sense than “2” for promoting it as the newer version, and it makes more sense than “10” as then nobody who didn’t know about Tour would wonder where “9” was.
Mario kart tuor shuldnt count since it was a mobile game, we had other mario karts in other plataforms and they didnt count But, we had that other switch mario kart...
THANK YOU! I really think Nintendo is gonna go for that MKX branding, but I can really see them doing a Mario Kart 2, although I feel like a lot of people are gonna look at that and go “didn’t you already make Mario kart eight doesn’t two come before eight?”
I have the best bad name idea possible but it would only make sense if they had a double dash mode: Mariokart Double Switch It advertises the return of the double dash mechanics and also harkens back to when they titled the games based off the system.
Imagine Nintendo do a double ‘we’re doin normal names now’ and goes ‘ the last Switch was 1, so this is Switch 2, the last Mario Kart was 8, so this should be Mario Kart 9’.
It's mario kart 9. Mario kart tour is a mobile game so it doesn't count. And I'm tired of people calling mario kart 10. It's mario kart 9, stop calling it mario kart 10.
I wonder how many people were confused by the 7 for the 3DS version of MarioKart simply because the my had no idea Super Circuit even existed. Don't be surprised if it is called 10, because people played Tour as if it were a mainline entry, and Nintendo has treated it as such. I honestly see the logic in calling it 9 or calling it 10. If Super Circuit counted as Mario Kart 3, then Tour could definitely still count as 9
No, in fact I hope it's called 9 purely to make people who whine about Tour being 9 salty. I really doubt it'll be called 10 or 2, those names sound confusing to your average gamer, and X sounds dumb.
The Booster Course Pass basically exists because of Tour, and the first trailer for it counted Tour as part of the main series. Nintendo definitely considers Tour as 9. If you want to see an *actual* Mario Kart spinoff, look no further than Home Circuit or the Arcade games.
no one is talking about out what it will really be called: mario kart 11. (some people were counting mk home circuit as mario kart 9, so if we also include tour, then 11 makes sense?)
if tour was mario kart 9 then why was it getting courses added to mario kart 8 lmao the reason it got so many tracks in the dlc is because it's a live service game that's eventually going to become unplayable, something i don't think nintendo would just be fine with happening to a "main," numbered mario kart title it's a mario kart spinoff, just like mario kart is a spinoff to the broader mario series
7:05 like o said before Casuals are not stupid. Yes they don’t get as into details as people online tend too But Basic concepts like The NAMES of a game will be noticed Not to mention the fact that plenty casuals play multiple Mario kart games That’s like saying if the next FIFA game was called FIFA 2 they would all think “oh wow I thought there was only one FIFA”
There's no real reason to not call it mario kart 9. Unless it's specified to have a different name, until that very point, it's mario kart 9. I'm not going to accept Tour as being MK9.
Only semi-related to the title but I think they’re going to bring the original logo from the 90s and early 2000s back. It’d fit with the more classic character designs as well as the more cartoony looking fonts and graphics seen on the ads in the teaser. I have no evidence, just a random hunch I have; but I can feel it.
I'll be in the cold ground before I recognize a mobile app as a mainline series. They just do not compare. Tour should be thrown in the trash and forgotten.
Actually if they lean into the X for ten as like “Cross” or something then with the fact they’ll likely have many new racers (since 24 racers is a lot) then it’d be thematic for them to add a lot more crossover characters like they did in 8 with the likes of Link, Inkling, Isabelle, etc

It’s pretty easy to understand which game is which if the normie in this situation is above the age of 3 or has an IQ in the double digits. Like, no normie is THAT stupid.
I KNOW it's not gonna be called Mario Kart 9, I just use it cause I don't know what else to call it.
Mario Kart 10?
No, you don’t know what it will be called like you have absolutely no clue
@@veebot75 Yes
Mario Kart 9: Overdrive.
That’s it, that’s my prediction.
Ogredrive
I think you're diving into the semantics too much. They would have called Tour 9 if they wanted it be seen as the next evolution in the series. They definitely aren't going to call the new game "Mario kart Switch 2"
So there's a high probability it'll be called 9 for the sake of driving home that simple point of "This is the successor to 8 deluxe."

I hope they call it Mario Kart 9 just to shut up the people who claim Mario Kart Tour is a mainline entry
@@azurewarrior2000they are spin-offs but they have cool concepts that should be put into the mainline games
It was literally deemed a mainline game internally
Even if it is called Mario Kart 9, it's still Mario Kart 10 to me. it just makes sense
i will continue to call it that until further notice
Well, people just called to switch too until happen to go with that so
Yeah, same
Mario Kart 9? Nah.
Mario Kart 10? Nah.
Mario Kart X? Almost, but nah.
Mario Kart Twitter? That’s more like it.
Nintendo considered SUPER MARIO RUN as a mainline game during the 35th Aniversary. Tour was definitely 9 for better or worse and was labeled as such internally during development.
THIS IS WHAT I BEEN SAYING!!!!!!!!!!
@@jourdonpatron212 Arcade GP tracks aren’t in mainline games because they’re co-owned by Bandai Namco.
no iphone 9, no windows 9, no mario kart 9
Yay I love stupid corporate naming scemes. They just can't wait to get to double digits. It's dumb to call the 9th thing #10
@@dxdgame7391 I just fucking hate the number 9. I hate that stupid dumb number
There also is no Mario Kart 2-6 and 10-63.
Even after it’s out, I’m sure casuals will still call it the *new* Mario kart for a good few years
I’m a fan of this channel but
😭Never let bro cook again
“It’s not mario kart 9”
IT IS MARIO KART 9
YOURE NOT MARIO KART 9
I think mario kart 9 makes the most since. Mk tour wasnt a home console game, and not enough people played it for it to be considered (in my eyes) mario kart 9
Nintendo considers tour a mainline game so it's Mario Kart 9
"home console game"
Super Circuit, DS, and 7 are handheld releases and thus spinoffs by your standard lol
They are not calling it fucking "mario kart 2"
i will detransition if they call it mario kart 2
the hell do you want me to call it
Bro MILKING those 5 seconds of footage. Respect
6:52 dude Everyone knows it’s actually called Mario kart 8
Saying people who bought the game and played it for Years wouldn’t Know it has an 8 in it is INSANE
I should start calling myself GettingMadz, because Mario Kart 2 is a horrible idea 😅. The casual players will be confused because it's the game after 8, the hardcore players..... will be confused because it's the game after 8
i feel like it's gonna be a subtitle entry
It’s Mario Kart X.
Approved
Also also, Mario Kart wii was ALREADY going to be named Mario kart 10, but with Romain Numeralls.
Mario Kart 64 was going to be called Super Mario Kart R. Unrelated to the original point but I feel like that would’ve been a completely different canon event for Nintendo
@@Scott... The jokes with Sonic R would have been unending.
Mario Kart (2025 video game)
Bro before I even watch this video I swear Mario kart tour is not Mario kart 9 it’s a shitty mobile demo for Mario kart 8
…Holy shit are serious ;-;
From the artstyle, it looks like it takes a lot of inspiration from MarioKart 64, so until we get an official name, I will refer to it as MarioKart 65.

There is no windows 9

Mario Kart Tour may have been the next mainline Mario Kart, but it's not Mario Kart 9.
It still Mario kart 9 every though it doesn’t have numbers it’s then 9th entries to the franchise and Nintendo treats it as mainline game
@mk8-mkwil117 by this logic Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is Mario Kart 10
@ no live home circuit does not count since that’s a spinoff game if its own just like the arcade Mario karts so its not mainline
@@mk8-mkwil117Why is Mario Kart LIVE considered a spin-off along with the Arcade GP games but Tour isn't? Explain yourself.
"l and r to bump into enemies"
that already exists in another racing game from several years ago that was recently turned into an NSO game for the switch which is F-ZERO

pikmin
pikmin 2
nintendo land spin off game
pikmin 3
hey pikmin
pikmin bloom
pikmin 4
even if we dont count nintendo land that makes pikmin 4 into pikmin 5 or 6
and pikmin bloom is still getting active support (i think)
and yet, its still pikmin 4...

Name one game where its quality was reduced because it was open world
@oinkitysploink sonic frontiers, everything Ubisoft has shit out, palworld...

Leaker that predicted most switch 2 infos said that it was called mario kart 9
Mario kart tuor shuldnt count since it was a mobile game, we had other mario karts in other plataforms and they didnt count
But, we had that other switch mario kart...
What other Mario karts are there? I feel like the arcade games have a reason not to count because it’s a namco title.
@mangos-1 that one with the toy cart with a camera on it
@ oh right, maybe that is Mario kart 9
The same problem with calling the yet-to-be-named Tears of the Kingdom "Breath of the Wild 2"
At the end of the day it doesn't really matter
Mario Kart X (formely known as Twitter)
it's the 9th game in the series and it has 24 racers
i'm going to keep calling it both mario kart 9 and mario kart 24
Tour Piranha Plant Pipeline is definitely coming in the game. it's the only tour original track that didn't come to 8dx
I'm calling it Mario Kart 9, you can't tell me what to do.
THANK YOU! I really think Nintendo is gonna go for that MKX branding, but I can really see them doing a Mario Kart 2, although I feel like a lot of people are gonna look at that and go “didn’t you already make Mario kart eight doesn’t two come before eight?”
it could be a remake of super mario kart (the first mario kart) base on dk design
No. GET OUT
No one here is ever going to be bamboozled
I have the best bad name idea possible but it would only make sense if they had a double dash mode:
Mariokart Double Switch
It advertises the return of the double dash mechanics and also harkens back to when they titled the games based off the system.
it better be mario riders introducing new character "Super Agnar"
I'm calling it Mario Kart Switch 2 until further notice.
If Super Circuit counted as Mario Kart 3, then Tour could definitely still count as 9
Super circuit is a mainline game. Tour is a mobile game, therefore isn't.
No, I won't.
If you want to see an *actual* Mario Kart spinoff, look no further than Home Circuit or the Arcade games.
no one is talking about out what it will really be called:
mario kart 11.
(some people were counting mk home circuit as mario kart 9, so if we also include tour, then 11 makes sense?)
if tour was mario kart 9 then why was it getting courses added to mario kart 8 lmao
the reason it got so many tracks in the dlc is because it's a live service game that's eventually going to become unplayable, something i don't think nintendo would just be fine with happening to a "main," numbered mario kart title
it's a mario kart spinoff, just like mario kart is a spinoff to the broader mario series
7:05 like o said before Casuals are not stupid. Yes they don’t get as into details as people online tend too
But Basic concepts like The NAMES of a game will be noticed
Not to mention the fact that plenty casuals play multiple Mario kart games
That’s like saying if the next FIFA game was called FIFA 2 they would all think “oh wow I thought there was only one FIFA”
it's gunna be called
Mario Kart 8 deluxe 2
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe^2
I'm calling it what i want
There's no real reason to not call it mario kart 9.
Unless it's specified to have a different name, until that very point, it's mario kart 9. I'm not going to accept Tour as being MK9.
ITS NOT GOING TO BE CALLED MARIO KART 10
Well then what do we call it? New Mario Kart 8 Deluxe U?
Edit: I now see
Watch the video
Only semi-related to the title but I think they’re going to bring the original logo from the 90s and early 2000s back. It’d fit with the more classic character designs as well as the more cartoony looking fonts and graphics seen on the ads in the teaser. I have no evidence, just a random hunch I have; but I can feel it.
Great idea, let’s not call the 9th mario kart Mario kart 9!
I'll be in the cold ground before I recognize a mobile app as a mainline series. They just do not compare. Tour should be thrown in the trash and forgotten.
It's X, because Tour is 9
Actually if they lean into the X for ten as like “Cross” or something then with the fact they’ll likely have many new racers (since 24 racers is a lot) then it’d be thematic for them to add a lot more crossover characters like they did in 8 with the likes of Link, Inkling, Isabelle, etc
it’s a stinky mobile game, doesn’t count! mario kart 9!
Mario Kart Tour is not Mario Kart 9. I will die on this Hill
Copium then
Now that you say it, I suddenly have the urge to call it mariokart 9
Stop calling it "Super Mario RUN" it's New Super Mario Bros Mobile
I can't wait to see the comments on this video, in the case that it is indeed. Mario Kart 9
I’m an advocate that it could be titled Mario Kart Rally
It’s much better to have low expectations so that we can be blown away, rather than too high expectations then to be disappointed
no it's mario kart 8 deluxe 2
If it was a wonder seed in the trailer then this could be Mario kart wonder
I will call the new game mario kart 9, because it means i dont have to acknowledge tour as a real mario kart game
