- Simone Rocha is a legend in London fashion. But, she hasn't always had the easiest journey considering for many years she designed under harsh comparisons with her father John Rocha. These days, she is well respected and lauded by both the fashion industry and by consumers for her unique perspective on subversive femininity, that now following her Spring Summer 23 collection is available for menswear as well. I cannot wait to see where Simone Rocha goes from here, I respect her so much.

Simone Rocha is by far, one of my favorite designers to walk this planet. Excited to see her continue work.
She really is truly talented
Love the depth of your research and the way you support claims with examples, evidence, leaving nothing vague and removing the fluff fashion is accused -and guilty - of portraying. It’s much in tune with the new intelligent ways designers are now beginning to approach design. Looking forward to greater things from this channel!

I agree, her work is so raw and beautiful in a way that almost reads as protective, I just adore her work so much. Simone has said in an interview (I can't remember what one!) That she has deliberately built up her brand aesthetic over time, which is why her graduate collection was so simple. Such a great video, thank you!
I think most designers do, their graduate collections are often a shell of what a designer will become. The only exception to this I can think of is Marine Serre, but Im sure there are others
@@understitchYT For sure :) Also, the gingham dress from her H&M collab that you show at 13:13 is actually an exact replica of one she did for FW15, and the pink coat after that is a replica of one she did for AW16! So interesting to see how she has built on all these signatures throughout her career!
@@isabelliexx her entire h&m collab was a miriad of her best hits, and I really appreciated that, it was such a way to give back to people that follow her brand but maybe can't afford it in a way she really ddint have to. As much as I love the J Brand collab, the H&M collab gets so much of my respect for her doing that

I enjoy her designs but sometimes it feels incredibly similar to designs from brands like Meadham Kirchoff, Mikio Sakabe, & CDG. But it all looks good, in the end.
I underatand what you mean, I think they all have the same or similar target markets so naturally over time they respond to what the consumer buys and they end up with similarities, but ai think they all have unique enough POVs so they can exist together more in harmony

Her fashion is very out there. Not my style. Maybe in Europe it works but not so sure in America. It’s more like a collection piece. 😊🙏🏼
I see SR in New York, but I agree, I think theres more edgy cities in Europe and Asia for this kind of audience than there is in USA
I don’t care for a design that goes horizontal for women. Most women are not tall and so much stuff on it makes them look fat and horizontal. 😊😊😊

The clothes are beautiful but SR has not created anything that has not been seen before. Over rated
But it has such a unique point of view, the dichotomy of her work I certainly see as new
