The only thing separating him from top 10 status right now is rings. If the Nuggets go back to back and win it this year, Jokic is top 10 right now [he would have 3 MVPs, 2 FMVP, 2 rings, which is slightly better than Hakeem's resume and Hakeem is sometimes listed as high as top 5-6 all time].
A few of my friends are soccer fans and don't really watch the nba, they asked me to describe Jokic to them. He is essentially a 7 foot basketball version of Lionel Messi. He's perfect offensively, makes the right read / decision 100% of the time. He's a computer out there along with generational skill.
Tatum and Brown don't complement each others' games, certainly not like Jokic, Gordon, and Murray totally complement each other. And this: Celtics' great record has a lot to do with the crappy teams they keep playing from the East. Put Denver in the East and they end the reg. season with 70+ wins.
Yeah looks like that brief period of parity for East/West in terms of depth is over. Even more than feasting on weaker bottom feeders it means you can go on cruise control more through the course of a week/month/season which keeps you sharper and fresher for when you actually need to try instead of the bloodbath out West. It’s not as bad as the aughts where you needed to be a 50 win team to make the playoffs in the West but honestly as the younger squads develop we might get back to that.
Bos isn’t that weak they lost by a combined 8 points over 2 games and still hold a win pcg of 66 percent over west teams den has a 68 win pcg total out of all games so I mean not exactly a discrepancy it just looks that way.
Celtics have played one of the hardest schedules over the first half of the season (i.e mostly over .500 teams) and still went .800 over that period. Now they have one of the easiest the remaining games. There are other top teams in the East who are in a much worse situation but still needs to win games.
As soon as they realized the three wasnt dropping they went hard in the paint. They don’t need to shoot threes. Jokic is a bully In the paint. You can’t double team him because he’s a better play maker than magic. He will find the open man. He’s on another level
That’s the cheat code. It’s the multilayered pressure Jokic applies at all 3 levels no matter what level he currently is standing at. That and he’s like 70% inside so you’d better be Curry out there shooting 3’s and that’s just to keep up.
Wouldn't say GOAT but he's the best offensive player since Jordan. But I'm with your he's special and if he goes back to back he's in GOAT center talk.
I love Vernon, and I'm a ride or die Memphis fan like him, but he's also everyone's friend-who-gets-so-caught-up-in-what-he's-saying-that-he-misses-your-half-of-the-conversation. I love you, my guy, but it's also hilarious when you miss that KOC just said what you want to say next... all the time! LOL
Call me a blind man, call me cynical, but I truly think the only team that can present a 7 game series challenge is the Boston Celtics. The Celtics played a horrible game (missed free throws, live ball turnovers, missing shots, not boxing out on the weak side), and they still had the chance to take the lead with 40 seconds left and steal this game. But there’s no question-Denver is the defending champion, and they know who they are, and what they represent and they just go do it. Boston is still trying to figure it out how to win in clutch moments, and if there’s any moment to have a letdown, it’s right now because you’ll have the time and games to play in those clutch moments before the start of the playoffs.
The Celtics played dumb.... Putting jokic in pick and roll was working they kept going away from it.... Everything they do should be getting jokic to defend in space every single time down court
Yeah but denver didn't play great either. Only jokic played great plus the know how ti execute. If denver shot better than 19 percent from 3 it could have been a blow-out for denver as well. See what people don't understand it that during playoffs, 3pt shooting percentages plummet. You won't get boston bullying teams by 50. It will be like yesterday's game
I think the Clippers can present a more formidable challenge when Kawhi is healthy than the Celtics. I just see the Celtics as a team that rides momentum. They can't break bad stretches and rely too much on Tatum and Brown to carry them when the going gets tough. At some point these role players will need to step up and the superstars need to act as decoys rather than take every damn shot. Denver is a well oiled machine I don't see anyone beating them 4x in a series.
The difference is whoever they play Denver has a “they are locked in here with me” mentality. Add in the unshelfish play, the size, the continuity, and the home field (altitude) advantage. And of course Jokic is the best player in the world. It’s not automatic, a handful of teams can push them, but if they are locked in they are just too good.
Boston supporters talking about 3pt% in this game is the same as the Lakers WCF last year. Jokic will out execute everyone down the stretch regardless of what stat you wanna point to.
BOS mediocre coaching? It seems that way. They are so good individually that it seems to go all perfect so the coach sees no reason to develop synergy, but come playoff time their non system isolation crumbles
Yeah, as a Denver fan, I've come to appreciate Denver's intense, cantankerous, but deeply caring Moach. He'd have a stroke on the sideline if Denver played with the same lack of focus as Boston did.
Early doors Kevin O’Connor goes on about Tatum going missing, which for me is very telling. That is the difference between a player that feeds off his team. And a player (Jokic) that feeds his team. Tatum is a bit of an ego like most, me, me, me players so when his supporting cast go a little cold he goes cold. Whereas Jokic plays the whole game from end to end and elevates his four teammates on court with him. Which is why he rarely has a BAD game, he does not rely on others to make his game. Now a question to throw out there. I keep hearing Joker can not “jump over a dollar bill” how does he win so many tip offs???????????? Just curious.
³pt argument for Boston is crap! Nuggets shot 4-21 from deep which is 19% 20% below their avg. Worse by volume & % than the Celtics. So,... Try again. I know it hurts a li'l to admit it but, Boston cannot beat a healthy Nuggets team 4-7. Jokic is still improving. He's bored with this league. If there was a better League, He'd be drafted 1st overall today, likely tomorrow, and definitely the last 3 years. Big Honey=Thanos=Inevitable ⛏️🏀🏆✌️🤷
Jokic was amazing but Tatum continues to play like ass in big games. The Celtics need to move away from him as the primary late game option. There are plenty of actions they can run to get better looks than that iso bullshit.
I literally just got done watching the game and it’s kinda crazy how everyone is hyping up the nuggets and jokic. The Celtics missed a lot of free throws and Tatum played terribly. I’m honestly not sure the nuggets can beat the Celtics 4 times. Btw I’m a huge jokic fan but that was a close game and the Celtics shot Terribly from the stripe
No question Boston is the most talented team in the league. But there’s that choke artist factor to them. Jayson Tatum played terribly- well look at last years playoffs. Many games where he disappeared. Boston is playing against themselves is how I see it.
@@mrdan523 I just wouldn’t count on the Celtics shooting 50% from the free throw line. And even if Tatum has an average game, the Celtics would have won by ten
