The moment you realize that the ending song shows an alternate ending that Yu, Mika and their family escape together, when the actual story, the family was actually killed, and Mika gets turned into a vampire by force, and only Yu escapes, dang, that's brutal

Well, looking at this ending with chapter 98 in mind explains a lot.
After Mika's shadow enlarged, everyone clearly covered by shadow, except Shinoa. In her part, shadow covered only in corner, like she's already in darkness. Maybe it's foreshadowing that Shinoa is actually the First Progenitor's shadow.

Ana that's how awesome the connection between the ed and the op is
someone on Tumblr pointed out the symbolism of this ED (Mika's shadow envelopes everyone but when it reaches Yuu, it shrinks back) and I finally noticed it here and I have to say, it made me love the ED and the scenes even more

..... Mika doesn't care about the human or vampire world because he has seen how bad both can be, he only cares about Yuu but Yuu is not like that. He cares about his friends and I guess also the vampires in the way that he wants to defeat them that's why maybe when Mika's showed reaches Yuu, it backs away

I was thinking at first it was just because Yuu was family and he doesn't want to hurt him . But I also thought that Yuu would never hurt Mika because he _is_ family and him being a vampire wouldn't really matter to him which *SPOILER ALERT*

No, its because Yuu lights up Mika's entire world, just him being there is enough to make everyone smile.
Crapp, i never watched the ending while watching the anime i just watched it for the first time right now and i am sobbing, this is so beautiful, i can't use words to explain it. This is just so beautiful its hard to believe something that seems simple on the outside has such a deep and beautiful meaning omfg everything is getting soaked in tears

Wow. I love the symbolism in this ending. At the beginning, we see Mika's shadow expanding, ultimately engulfing him. This represents how the darkness in his heart is consuming him (his guilty conscience due to his reckless actions that led to his family's death and how he was forced to be a vampire). The shadow then continues to grow and shade a bunch of other characters that he has met along the way - characters that he views as barriers/obstacles preventing him from reaching Yuu. When the shadow finally reaches Yuu, we see that Mika couldn't face Yuu (or his memory of Yuu as a child (because he doesn't know what the older Yuu looks like yet). We then see a pool of moving waters (which can represent a sea of blood or stormy currents), which represent the chaos within Mika's mind about how his vampiric nature now and not a human like Yuu. Then, we see the shadow receding, leading to the scene where Yuu holds onto Mika's hands and leads him towards the light. This represents how Mika relies on Yuu to retain his humanity and sanity. Yuu is basically Mika's hope.
All of that is true except the end which actually shows an alternate ending where the family survives and they get away to the outside world but a super good observation

This show gets so much shit and I don't understand why. The premise is great, apocalyptical, swords, awesome animation, great voice acting, emotional af, and breathtaking soundtrack, don't forget AMAZING OPS AND EDS. THIS SHOW IS LIFE

Ngl. I'm about halfway through.. The animation for fighting is very bland, the dub is very awful, and it's just kinda predictable at times. However, the story is interesting, and the op is good.
@@sairentoeko well look, you can't really judge the actual animation or art style too much if you're watching it present day because we're talking about a 6 year old anime, like c'mon man get a grip. I watched this anime for the first time in 2021 as well, and I didn't watch the dub because I never watch dub but the animation and art style is at the very worst, about average for the time, so it's fine, the voice acting (in Japanese) is pretty good, some actors were okay but some of them really put work into delivering their lines. Predictable? Yeah sometimes, but that can't really be helped considering again this was 6 years ago, for all we know, some animes took inspiration from this one, you ended up seeing those first, and then you get to this one and think this one copied it. Either way anime cliches are typical in a lot of animes, and although yeah it would be nice if they avoided them, they didn't have too many I feel like, and when they did it wasn't that bad so I don't mind. The first OP and ED were amazing, being written by the same guy who writes music for attack on titan, and the visuals of the second opening were pretty good.
SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED THE ANIME
it sucks that it ended in a cliffhanger after 2 seasons, and those last 5 minutes of the last episode felt super rushed, but at least it looks like there's some rumors that it might come back in 2022? I know saying that seems impossible since it would have been like 7 years at that point and who renews a 7 year old anime? Well devil is a part timer got renewed for a second season like almost a decade after the first one so as unlikely as it is it's not impossible, especially considering I've seen both animes, but I would say objectively seraph of the end is an overall better anime even if you prefer comedy over action/drama. Of course the show has problems but overall I think it was pretty good and I would definitely pick it right back up if they come out with a season 3. But if they don't announce a season 3 in like a year or two tbh I'm probably just gonna read the manga because it really is a good story and there's a lot left to learn about the universe and the characters that they didn't get to in the show.
@@HearMeLearn Sorry, but.. I disagree, and I feel that being older is not a valid excuse, there are older shows that look better, and have less predictable plot. Was this show bad? No, but it was... Very sub par.
When it gets to *Come and Break it down for me!* That gives me chills.... In a good way. When it gets to that, its gets absolutely badass! xD

From 0:19, Mika's shadow clearly covered everyone. But i'm barely noticed in Shinoa's part because shadow only covered in corner, like Shinoa already in the darkness even before shadow reach her. Maybe it's foreshadowing that Shinoa is actually the First Progenitor's shadow.
Both opening and ending are great even better when you switch animation 1 with song 2 and animation 2 with song 1

Mikas shadow looming over everything is his darkness in how he blames everyone and everything for his pain and loss; his hatred of both humans and vampires. However, it's only when the shadow reaches Yuuichiro does it stop its growing because Mika cannot bring himself to hate him. Then, once his shadow, or in this sense, Mika finally reaches Yuuichiro, only then does Mika's hatred and blame begin to fade and he thinks about what could've been. Everything lights back up in his world for him and once the darkness finally dissapears from his mind thanks to the overpowering will he has to find Yuichiro, Mika then resumes his hunt for his last living family member with him jumping off the building to go search for him.
This is my theory at least.
If this is the case, then the ending is much more poetic than my 12-13 year old ass thought back when I used to watch this on loop like 20 times a day.

This Song Screams Heavy Influence from the Early -Mid 2000's. That's Why some People are referring to NickleBack as much as it pains me to hear that... But don't Overlook there was so many bands in the 2000's that sounded just like NickleBack for Example ( Creed, Breaking Point.) But as for Instrumentals this Tune is a Direct take back to Energy Hard Rock ballads of the 2000's. This is Great Passion filled, Emotional Tune, and the Chorus is Chilling, you Feel it when it Hits!
OKay i get why some people get bored with the show or whatever, maybe they prefer the manga or dislike this all together, but wow when i look at these songs, this guy really knows how to write them? I'm suddenly super invested in Yuu and MIka all over again. Theyre what make the show tbh, and Guren is cool. -

Years have passed, this is the best ending for me and we are still waiting for season 3.
I'm happy this show isn't as mainstream as ohhh say, Sword art online, the anime that's pretty much half Americans in 2015 first anime. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. But when that's all you know, and say is the only best anime ever, that can kind of get annoying.
It's sad that at the end it showed what Mika and Yuu wanted the most. To escape with their family and live in the paradise they thought the world was.
But the reality was, that the world is just a place filled with greed and selfishness.
This ending is really beautiful but I like it most when it comes as an ost in the anime 💜

You have to read the manga to understand there is so much more to this then the anime will show.
I don't know why but this closing song almost makes me tear up when I watch it - just, with the symbolism of the Mika's shadow; the scenes of a happy ending that would never be; the vocals; the fact that this is Mika singing back to Yuu; it's just so much genius in one place makes me so feel so great but utterly destroyed at the same time.
This anime and Noragami will forever be the most upsetting to me that they didn't finish it. It was so good! 😭😭😭
