  • Istanbul, Turkey.
Istanbul is one of our favorite destinations EVER for food, sightseeing, and of course, CATS (kedis)! In this travel food vlog, we explore the European side of Istanbul. We start the day with a massive Turkish breakfast in the hip and modern Beyoglu district, explore the historic streets around the old bazaars of Fatih, and wrap up the day in Taksim Square with kebabs - the quintessential Turkish fast food.
Here's a full list of where we went and what we ate:
    1. Van Kahvaltı Evi - a popular spot for a classic Turkish breakfast. You get an incredibly decadent spread of both sweet and savory dishes for $5 per person! Wash it down with Turkish chai, a rich black tea that everyone in Istanbul drinks.
    2. Egyptian Spice Bazaar - we wander around the crowded streets of the spice bazaar, trying olives and other treats along the way.
    3. Grand Bazaar - one of the largest and oldest markets in the WORLD, though it was closed when we visited on a Sunday.
    4. We then try a Turkish coffee from a vendor near the Grand Bazaar
    5. Taksim Square - a busy and vibrant district for nightlife, shopping, and food.
    6. Dürümce - Our final stop of the day for kebabs, a ubiquitous Turkish fast food. We try grilled lamb and adana kebabs.

Hello Dotty. Menemen is actually shakshuka called in Turkish or Menemen called in other languages is Shakshuka :D We have also the şakşuka but it is not an egg dish but a dish with fried vegetables in tomato/garlic sauce (Caution!!!: Highly addictive, especially after a long night ^^). Look here: th-cam.com/video/a1QkQXSCYIY/w-d-xo.html

Ah, you are so obsessed with social media. You are missing the places where you can have a better and cheaper breakfast than "Van Kahvaltı Evi". And the bigger breakfast. Leave social media and explore the city

Shakshuka has pepper and onion in it . Algerian chekchuka is authentic , doesn't have to be similar as turkish to be good .

Those in and around touristic places make up things and make you believe that what they make is traditional. It is all for the new comers to Turkey. The coffee making what they showed you is far from the traditional way. Anyway, it is just a showcase for the tourists, just take it as it comes, but don't believe any of it.

Your restaurant selection is not the best. You should be carefull, check for ratings or talk to a local. When I say a local not a regular local Joe on the street, probably someone who speaks English has money and has selective pallette, not someone who eats anything heavier than air and softer than a rock. I hope you didnt get diarrhea!

Come on guys!! Love that youre in Turkey, but make some attempt at pronunciation of the names, its awful... no one expect perfect pronunciation but it seems like youre making no effort like your some Americans that we forced to be there... Ive heard you pronounce some thing extremely well so we know you can do it... just a little effort if you want a professional produce something with some level of professionalism.
