Great video. I’m doing the real main seal in mine and I’m gonna have to remove the front axle because I don’t think I’ll ever get the pan back on with it in the way. In all seriousness I was close to either selling the whole vehicle off, pulling the whole engine, or towing it to a technician but then someone on the XJ Discord server reminded me that I can just pull the axle like some RMS videos say to do. My advice to anyone pulling their pan in the car is to go ahead and yeet the axle, trust me. Especially if you would benefit from replacing the suspension components while you’re at it. Update: it’s not that hard to put the pan on with the axle in especially if you have better common sense and coordination than me but it’s not a bad idea to rebuild your front end while doing the RMS (which doesn’t actually require full axle removal unless you want the pan install and axle side UCA bushings to be easier)
Thanks man, gonna be replacing the rear main seal/oil filter adapter oring/oil pan seal ...taking the front axel off is apparently the way to go. Thanks for the demo
Thanks for this, I'm converting a 'new-to-me 87 Comanche to light duty 4WD. Now I know what tools I need and the order of operations to do this at my local pick & pull. Much appreciated!
