It does not matter if you're sitting the whole time or moving around, I always finish watching your videos because they are all so helpful to a beginner like me. Hahaha but I love that you're moving around here. It kept me really engaged and 100% in attention. Thank you again for this great content.
WONDERFUL tips, Gillian! Thank you! And I love how you were moving around the room setting up during this video - such an interesting departure from sit-down videos!
Making utilitarian videos. That's such a great point!!! My favorite channels are the ones where I binge watch all their videos after subscribing, or I click so fast as soon as I see their name. I know they always make videos that appeal to me, not keyword search.
I definitely LOVED how you filmed this! I was wondering - is she thinking about what she's doing or only about what she's saying. Perfectly executed. Very engaging. Love it.
I really like how your camera followed you as you were organizing your room. Multitasking!! lol What equipment did you use to do this if you're filming by yourself?

Great Video! I am actually trying not to upload too frequently, but I think 3 times a week it's working pretty well for me right now! Thanks for the tips!
Hello Gillian! I just wanted to say that I love your videos about ways of improving your yt channel! And I'd like more of these. Thanks for the advice! Happy new year!
Great video with good information. Honestly though I think the reason I subscribed was Your calm nature as you moved around and did other things while talking
I really enjoyed these tips Gillian. I definitely needed to hear them right now. I have discovered what types of videos seem to tank on my channel and what my subscribers don't like. Btw, I loved the new format you used of the camera following you around as you set up and talked. Brilliant!
Such a good video. The fact that you don't need any text or anything in front of you to help and you just elaborate and articulate so well! Also, I loved the movement in this video and you showing how you set up your gear - great idea and worked amazingly visually, it might sound crazy but I've never seen someone talk like that on TH-cam while walking around and doing things, what people usually do is either they film themselves and then record a voiceover or they just film themselves with a stationary camera from one pov. So that was so refreshing and interesting for me to see! No shaky camera, just relaxed visuals and pure quality production and info. A well curated and expanded on list of tips. Prolly one of your best videos!
Great tips! Haven't watched one of your videos in a little while and I see that you have really stepped up your audio/lighting quality! I have learned a lot from this channel when I started mine about half a year ago! Thank you. :)
Good evening everyone, I am here because my channel has been suspended for no reasons and I had to create a new one all over again, thank you for all your tips Gillian, you helped me so much to finally make it!
I am using a mixture of what you and other TH-cam successes say about growing. Got 71 subscribers in month 1. Fingers crossed for month 2! Thanks Gillian!
Thank you for the tips! My channel is finally starting to grow and these tips definitely came in handy plus gave me an extra boost of motivation. Best wishes to you :)
On August 7th 2020, I accidentally renamed my Google account from "Cesare Vesdani" to "Riddler Green 333". That caused my TH-cam channel to break. Then I changed everything back to my original TH-cam name called "Cesare Vesdani". How can I get rid of the misleading Google search results of "Riddler Green 333" on Google search? How can I fix everything the way it was originally?
Honestly I found your channel because of search, I found one of your most popular videos ranking for a competitive term and been subscribed ever since. I have also grown my channel to about 20k subs and most has been through videos in search, which is why I recommend a balance of creating both videos for search but also for suggested.
Great video/tips/channel! I made a major noob error when I started my channel. I have many video playlists. Some of the videos fit several different categories/playlists, so treating the playlists like "tags", I added them to the playlists that seemed appropriate. Big mistake. I didn't realize that TH-cam considers this "trying to get more views by adding the same video to different playlists". At first some of these playlists quickly got a lot of views. Then I guess the algorhythm decided I was trying to get more views, in an inappropriate way, and suddenly I was getting very few/no views in my music playlists. Browsing "TH-cam Help", I discovered where I had made my mistake. Even though I've gone through the playlists, and removed duplicates (i.e. now each video is only in one playlist), my views are still very low. I read somewhere that my channel may be "broken" because of this, and the only solution is to delete the channel, make a new one, and start over. Though it is encouraging/motivating to see a playlist get views, I didn't create them to get any income, but rather just to share interesting/etc videos with people. Just thought I'd share my experience so other noobs like myself don't make that same error. Another thing: TH-cam is still deleting views regularly/retroactively (i.e. the number of views shown for these playlists is lower every other day, while at the same time the TH-cam "Analytics" chart shows more people have viewed them recently).
OK, so, here are my questions then: - How do you make nice branded thumbnails that go with your brand without it being "cookie cutter"? -I understand about not focusing on getting into searches. But, what SHOULD you focus on?
My take: keep SOME detail that is your signature, your brand iconic thing. yet overall each thumbnail is fresh and different. When the personality is key for the channel, your face is a must. Also, it seems thumbnails with faces in the thumbnail tend to be successful. That guy ones, if you realize, always show his face, but intense saturated colors where a constant. The composition was extremely similar among them. You need to break more. Suddenly have one thumbnail just with a white bold font over red, or black, or etc. or a totally different scheme color. Imo, a short sentence in bold font, super fast to get and understand, catchy and with one or two faces (or objects of very high interest), and never a large shot with tiny details, this is all things that I would see working. But I might be wrong, I'm not yet a channel owner, just someone digging many sources constantly. About the searches, dunno. Other people recommend heavily to focus on keywords, going for those with enough pool of searches per week, but not too broad competition (existing videos that are about that matter) as you get sink to the bottom with no way up. but about what to focus: I'd go for really doing what I like (consistent in one matter but broading it up a little: not super niche, but could be of the likes of certain profile of people. IE, not bonsais care only, but also videos related to other matters of plants care), focus on QUALITY, as that wins every time,. And extremely important, use the statistics tabs in your channel, to keep a daily eye on them, see how well videos do, ask your audience about that video and matter... the stats (and the comments, reactions) are going to tell you on WHAT to focus more: In the most successful ones! Even if not your exact preference, will be already on a range "close" to the niche you want to specialize more. IMO is fine to use whatever "close" matter makes your channel grow, as you will have time to double down on the very specific later or as you go. Of course, this whole method means, staying overall in a "type of user"' 's interest, a user profile (so, not a super specific niche, but about it and "around" it ), but yet at the beginning.... "testing". Testing themes and types of content withing a slightly broad area. And since the start paying that lot of attention to stats to be able to find your best path for growth. Again, not a channel owner, only a person who likes to dig here and there a lot.
Amazing.....very much helpful. I'll consider all these tips. Thank you❣️

Thanks a lot Gillian! Very useful information! Greetings from Vietnam from month 3 of our home quarantine! Please be safe, healthy and happy!!! 🌍✨🙏🏻😇☀️🌠
Hey, I loved watching you get all set up! Usually when I do all the set up, I'm all sweaty and my face is shiny! Didn't notice one edit where you powdered your face and reapplied lipstick. lol. (You look like Nicole Kidman today)
Hi Gillian! Thanks, first of all, but I always wondered about those SEO's advice. Where is the passion in your content if you are focusing on the next 'set of words.' It sounds like a 'hamster on a wheel approach' to content creation. I'm working on my channel and had already decided if that approach will make me successful, I was prepared for low views. Your tips are part of my planning process.
Really useful video, thanks really a lot, you are sooo good!!! I have a small channel in Italian and most of your videos have been very helpful for me.
The last tip regarding entertainment is very important! I will definitely pay more attention on that from now on! But since mine a Makeup channel do you have any tips? How can I make especially tutorials entertaining!✨
WOW!!! Thank you Gillian this is very helpful. I almost started to make all of my thumbnails exactly the same. I put it on my TO DO LIST for this week but the changes were taking me way too long...WHY? because I should NOT be doing that. 😁 YOU ROCK‼ as always
If you go back and unlist or delete underperforming videos does it help your channel or its performance at all? How often should you go back and clean up?
It’s all connected. Make videos for your target audience and stay true to your value prop. Can you make a video on defining your value proposition/target audience and some scenarios with different channel types? I would love to get a better feel for the thought process behind defining this and how to apply it!
Hi Gillian! I loved this video, it was extremely informative.. like much of your content :) Do you have any idea how private and unlisted videos affect a youtube channel? The only downside I can think of is if the topic is different from the "listed" content on your channel. Are you aware of any others? (To expand on the downside I see: If you get some subscribers because of unlisted/private content that you've shared, and your listed content is a different topic/style/format, then you may not get the click-throughs. The result being that youtube would recommend your listed videos less.)
I feel really stuck now. My biggest watched video is on Mayan Massage which of course can help women with endometriosis but does this mean, if they subscribe and see a whole bunch of content related to endometriosis, then it isn't matching what else those viewers are interested in? So, I avoid making more generic health related videos to reach a wider audience? The search numbers for endometriosis aren't high but perhaps people are searching for other health related things and thought this would be a good overlap to reach them. Any advice?
14:41 kind of confirms what I have somewhat suspected for a while now. So many subscribers, so very few views. While I really love Gillian and her videos are very much to the point in terms of information, something seems lost, and for some reason her own channel seems to be "broken". Her videos get nowhere near the views they used to get, and I myself feel gravitated away from her content - again, I can't put my finger on it. I hope she does well, but it all seems just a bit too clinical and... boring? I've been watching her for years, and she has inspired me so much, but with all the changes, all the out-sourced jobs and all the kids I don't really feel any connection to her videos any more.

most beautiful youtuber I ever seen... beauty with brain..
I have one questione: do You Think that is better to create short videos of 10 minutes or complete videos of 20 minutes?
when you are small, I would go with 2 x 10 - to keep people watching 20 min is not easy whenyour don't have an audience that are loyal to your content
@@ralfstraaberg4420 thanks really a lot for your feed back, highly appreciated!
