I have a chest gap and my legs and glutes are way too big for my short torso giving me a more feminine or powerlifting look. Nearly all muscles are used constantly in daily life activities, thus if your balance is lost it's nearly impossible to get it back.
Leaning out first and then adding size only where necessary is probably ideal.
