Steve, it would be great to do a high performance/high efficiency build with a Ryzen 7950X + RTX4090 undervolted to see how much power you can reduced without losing much performance.

I think Gigabyte has had to cut down on premium looks in order to remain competitive with the founders edition in price and performance and keep a decent profit margin.
I agree, but the FE is still the better option overall. They really put in the work this time around to improve cooling and noise performance. Looks like Nvidia really wants to rid themselves of partnerships and copy the Apple approach.
No becouse they have better Aorus Master version, more premium. If you don't care about plastic take this, if you want premium buy Aorus Master or AORUS GeForce RTX 4090 XTREME WATERFORCE 24G
Had this card since they came out, I actually wanted an MSI Gaming X version as I had an MSI 3080Ti before and it was a good card but pretty much everything sold out immediately so I had to settle for this Gigabyte card. Not sure why people seemed to be avoiding this model as it runs cool and quiet and I have had zero problems and over a year and a half of reliable top tier gaming performance. Always interesting watching these reviews again years later with hindsight
the Gaming OC has always been part of their cheaper lineup compared to the Aorus cards, kinda like Asus Tuf vs Strix. i'm sure the Aorus Master will somehow manage to be even more ridiculous lol
@@shadowheart5623 its got respectable specs and its interesting that it gets the full 133% power limit unlike many other cards but it's still gigabyte's second cheapest card behind the windforce. plain design and lots of plastic. not that it's bad, it actually appears to be one of the best AIB cards at a glance. but it'll be a lot cheaper than any of their Aorus cards
Definitely missing noise normalised comparison between this and the FE to really know the difference between the cooling performance which pretty much is the most important aspect between FE and AIB cards! Also missing some temperature/noise Graphs! They are so helpful if you are returning to some videos to just get a super quick look at the results without helplessly searching through the video to find the right spot and having to listen to the sound to find some info that you could visually spot in mere seconds :x Otherwise great review as always Steve and looking forward to more testing! :)
seriously ppl think im running uncapped cs:go or valorant with my 3070 strix...bc "thats what it was made for" on the contrary....ill still cap to 400....and my 3070 will sip power and honestly run those games at 0 rpm/passively. Considering im using open backed headphones its night and day vs some mid range gpu running at full tilt. Or a gaming laptop thats screaming to push a 1660ti and 6c intel chip to their max/temps. last year the 3070 strix and x trio noise normalized graphis had me HOPING a 4080 could hit those numbers one day NGL. BC thats where i have my sights on quiet 4k frame yielding fun so i can use a BT dac and connect some open backs and play some games sat back/relaxed with hifi still. Clearly for the same use case of valorant/go a 4080 would be silent bc of how easy it would run those games...but im trying to apply that same use methodology to games like tarkov/warzone/cod DMZ etc...which are all largely sound dependent for 1/2 your kills in the case of EFT. Like if youre out for blood pure PVP raiding hearing some W/sprint fans about really has you set up for a 1 man ambush/wipe. Even being able to cap older/past AAA titles in 4k to say 80 fps just to bog down the GPU noise for some casual controller shooting/hackn n slashn and looting is a QOL boost
Great card for 4k, can't go there myself but happy for the folks that can. As a home builder I would recommend a dedicated av outlet on a 25 watt breaker and pay attention to how much other stuff is plugged in. If you reside in Arizona like me be ready to pay a little more for your air conditioning. A typical electric floor heater is around 1200 watts and this thing pushes possible total system draw to close for my comfort on a branch circuit that could have other things plugged in.
id second this, the other room i was in prior was linked to my garage circuit....and the second i got an electric car and tried to trickle charge with a garage outlet...my room/pc etc breaker tripped. If you have multiple systems/siblings in your residence all with gaming pcs etc....be careful where you route these systems power etc...the ac kicking on mid summer can easily trip a breaker for some kiddos that dont know how to fix said situation My heart aches to think of some of these kids trying to DIY fix the problem encountering any potential harm. Im in cali and we have solar for the house which is nice same to potential individuals living on a rental property with payed/included utilities. Even then idk if a 4090 of all things should be a high priority to someone on a rental property/lifestyle from a standpoint of frugality/practicality. The only ppl that dont notice these things clearly dont pay bills/chip in around the house. It adds emphasis on buying a high power envelope PSU/12v rail in order to incur/induce the efficiency cycle/functionality of powersupplies vs the irony of ppl getting "JUST ENOUGH" while their cost to run effectively doubles yearly.
How is 2300rpm "not very loud"? I think anything above 1300-1400 is really noticeable and annoying. 1900rpm was already 44dB you said, which is insanely loud. Anything above 35dB I consider annoying. That's why I undervolt, adjust fan curve manually and limit PT to 80% in Afterburner normally, so it runs silent. besides that, awesome review, as usual.
Another reason why EVGA said no more. Nvidia is kicking AIBs from the market if there is no difference between these cards. They are even worse because they won't fit in so many cases.
Yeah they totally screwed the aib with the performance. I'm guessing Nvidia cherry picked the best chips for their FE. Giving the aibs worse chips that need better cooling.
pretty sure the fe is already overclocked, given the miniscule decrease in performance when limiting consumption. pretty dumb imo, to use 100 watt more for like 5% or so
Damn card is overclocked stock. If I bought one (I won't) I'd probably underclock it. It retains ~95% performance at ~70% power draw according to gamers nexus. That giant cooler with a custom fan curve would be very quiet cooling 300-320 watts.
Looks like EVGA made the right decision to get out when it did. I predict all the partner cards will perform within a few precentile points of each other. Nvidia screwing their partners again, by hamstringing them to a limited power/overclock barely better than the standard Nvidia FE model.
@@MoonOvIce The point I was making was all the AIB cards will be same fps as each other and 1-2 fps faster than FE, looking at various AIB 4090 reviews, they are just slightly cooler and quiter than FE, so pretty pointless purchase just get FE. You would expect at least 10% faster for AIB cards compared to FE in the past.
Looking at prices on Best Buy the retail price for many of the cards so far is exactly the same as the FE card liquid cooling options being $200 more I saw a Gigabyte Triforce for $100 more. There is some built in profit margin for AIB's in the MSRP. I think what we have this generation is AIB's trying to see what they can get away with charging. If customers don't buy they can still charge MSRP and make profits. AIB perf in the past couple of years has usually been around 5% anyway it was always about better cooling and thermals really as undervolting gained popularity.
@@oZiiix Yeah, to me it was always better cooling and less noise from AIBs. FE versions used to be terrible, now they seem pretty good since the 30 series or so.
Now that the 4090 is finally out, can you test its performance in pcie gen 3 vs pcie gen 4? I am curious to see how if the pcie bandwidth can bottleneck such a powerful card.
I can understand the 1000 watt recommendation since if that had been anything other than a 5800 x3d then it could have been pulling a lot more wattage under extreme workloads which would put it a little bit too close to the 850 watt limit I think
@@bismuth7730 that's not accurate. First, not all 850watt PSU's are created equal. 2nd, that 850watts is with all rails combined on modern systems the vast majority of that draw will be strictly on the 12v. 3rd, even if your PSU manages to NOT trip OCP, you'll get a shit ton of ripple and tank your efficiency if you're operating at 118% of capacity.
Yes was looking at some of the prices here in the EU… it’s a bargain 😊 GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24G, 24576 MB GDDR6X 2.170 USD AMD Ryzen 9 7950X CP 872 USD ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO 885 USD
exactly...a .925mv uv on my 3070 FE had it never past 250w and it helped curve the coil whine and keep the 0rpm stock fan curve intact w.o hitting a high fan speed/noise operation. Considering it was bought to replace a 325w 2ghz 2080ti strix oc. I was pretty amazed at the temps/noise 2 fan design and frame yields compared to the 1200$ flagship AIB vs 534$ for the 3070 FE. My biggest problem with that era was the HIGH VRAM Temps on many FE cards and eventual PROBLEMS many owners endured/encountered. I wound up trading my FE for a 3070 strix OC for cash difference week of launch. The Strix 3080 cooler on that GPU makes it so cool/quiet makes the 2080ti's 75%+ fan speed a figment of the past for the same frame yields and 50+w less needed. I can push 325w with that 3070 in games like path of exile maxed(Never do this it will melt your gpu)....or diablo 2 reborn maxed with resolution scaling or a few other AAA titles that also offer simulated 4k+ scaling or etc...Now that NV and AMD is back to supporting FSR/VSR etc concepts its really nice as well to see/use in games...like fallout 76 the pitt i got to play/test that game during this free week...and was able to play on upscaled/super sampling/maxed and since the game isnt hyper optimized my cpu/gpu were running at amazing temps.
I have seen that the 4090 seems to have a lot more potential in terms of power efficiency when lowering the power target (see new video from der8auer) do you think you could take a look at this at some point? also great video as always. Hope my kidney will help someone lol
At the Centrecom online store here in Australia the AiB RTX 4090's range in price from $2,959 to $3,799 AUD. With the Asus TUF Gaming Geforce RTX 4090 OC Edition at $3,499 AUD, while the Asus TUF Gaming Geforce RTX 4090 comes in at $2,959. The dearest was the Asus ROG Strix Geforce RTX 4090 OC Edition, which came in at $3,799 AUD.
It’s off its head. Paying three grand for a GPU feels like you need to lube up before entering the store. They’re amazing cards, but they’re not 3 gorillas good!
By the time I could get a 3080 at MSRP, it was too late and 4000 was around the corner... hopefully I will actually be able to buy a card this time around. It sold out in minutes of launch but I'm waiting to see the AMD cards, I hope there will be stock in November when I make my choice. I miss the old days, I remember just walking into a Software ETC (video game store from ancient times) in NYC and buying a GeForce 2 off the shelf on launch week. This was never a damn problem before. I was always able to get the card I wanted in the brand I wanted at MSRP on the day I wanted until 2 years ago. I wish gaming was still a fringe hobby and crypto didn't exist.
One of the reasons to get an AIB vs the Founders Edition was thermal performance but Nividia has really stepped up this generation. It hardly seems worth it to pay a premium for higher end models. Maybe EVGA got out at the right time.
remember were looking at the 4090/aka flagship...IMO they have no choice but to deliver with a product of this caliber/price point...ill wait until i see the 4070 and 4080/4070 12gb....to see how the vram temps look or if the FE is a must do out of the box undervolt like the 3080 and 3070 FE were at launch. TBH i expect the 4090 to have "better" vram temps its like saying the TI ampere cards "woah they improved the temps/vram" when in reality it should have been the case period from launch of ampere. Then agian...ive owned a couple 5700xts....so im no stranger to absurd VRAM temps and having to self tune a "FLAGSHIP/OC" aib out of the box as it is SMDH....yet since the 5700xt....amd has clearly launched far greater operating products/options.
Hey just got back from the horrifying minefield of preordering a 4090 and happened to grab this one, I'm really excited and from one Australian to the next just wanna thank you for the review, hope I made the right choice :)
Question 🙏: did you use two dual 8-pin cables, or 4 separate cables into the adapter to connect the card to the power supply? I'm using the same PS and was wondering if the two cables would be enough. THANKS and nice review!
I've always been a big fan of the Strix cards and it's kind of what I wanted to get but at $2000 is kind of steep. I end up going with the Tuf OC instead. The Asus cards seem to be the only ones that come with 2 HDMi ports too.
I used to always get Asus GPU'S bit the past three times i haven't been able to get the parter card of my choice. I honestly don't think there's much point anyways as there's barely any difference.
@@originalityisdead.9513 All 4090 partner cards seem to be very well built, even the 3000 series from I seen so it comes down to preference and aesthetics. I would've got an MSI or Gigabyte if there were no Asus cards. They're all pretty much the same.
Thanks for reviewing this. Was planning on getting it but turns out its almost as long as my current pc let alone be able to fit in it so I'm just going to have to look into getting a newer pc moving forward
Steve will you test zen 4 and raptor lake with the 4090 ? In zen 4 review almost every game was bottlenecked by gpu's so it would be interesting to see new results once raptor lake is out. Great work with cpu and gpu reviews btw on sick schedule as always.
Thanks for identifying your PSU, I bet many people will be confused on what will be required for this gen. Thankfully I already own an rm850x so this makes the 4090 a little more tempting
Seems like actually a good thing it's only a 2 slot bracket. Holding out hope there will be plenty of 2 slot 4080 for my SFF rig. Got the clearance internally, just limited to 2 slot on the bracket.
I don't think nvidia cares for our itx/sff two slot anymore.. Going to have to have your fingers crossed for a triple slot with de-shroud mod.. Planning that for my ncase m1. Zotacs cooler design looks like the most compliant to suit
Zotacs cold plate is too small so half of the gddr6x memory isn't making contact and is just hanging off. Serious serious design flaw the 30's series zotacs had and the zotac 4090 have that very same issue as well as loud noisy buzzy fans. To date out of the 6 4090's i've owned, the Suprim X 4090 has the best cooler design. And it's the quietest. The Strix and Tuf models had hotspot issues. The gaming trio was absolutely fantastic and I would say the Suprim and Gaming OC from gigabyte have the best air coolers.@@thecookeman
5:14 They included a footprint for a rear 12+4 power connector. Is it an universal PCB for many designs, like water cooled one or lower tier cards? Whats up with 2x6 goldpin sockets in bottom right? Also lol that 5.5/2.1 DC jack connector footprint below 12+4 empty footprint, did they really test it with a 5A max connector?
G'day Steve, Even for this level of performance these GPUs at $1600 are expensive in USA, but here even though we are down to 1.6x USD we are still getting ripped off as they are just shy of $3000AUD😱 & people are buying them 🤦♂
They are really gouging with the 4090 price in Australia. More than double the MSRP and they added an extra but of 'Australia Tax' to boot, as it sells for AUD ~$3600
Love Steve and time, the quality of their breakdown is as always, immaculate. Can't wait for the DLSS 3.0 and the TUF review, that model in particular served me well previously and I'm definitely expecting something impressive for this generation.
Still sad the 40 series still doesn't have displayport 2.0. Could really have brought in a new age of displays. Basically it could bring 8K actually into view or actually run 4K 240hz displays.
NVIDIA decided NOT to release the 4080 12gb because they LISTENED to feedback and realize we are not stupid. It's a 4070 & we know it, they know it. Now they will KEEP only the 4080 16gb!!! They deserve CREDIT for listening
The GeForce RTX branding is required on all 4090 cards by Nvidia apparently, and can't be lit by RGB. This is according to MSI during their 4090 reveal.
Steve, when you used the Rm850x what was the cable configuration? 2 cables both daisy chaining to equal 4? 3 cables with 1 daisy chained? 4 seperate cables?
Kinda looks like Nvidia has already optimized the 4000-series FE platform with the exception of power draw (Der8auer has a video on this), so there is no meat left on the bones for AIBs, so you get a support bracket (which the FE has an option for already). It's almost as if EVGA knew something...
XD no meat? dont you mean +200w power envelope V bios' with efficacy purely for benchmark/ladder scoring/climbing. This writing on the wall has ben set in stone ever since the oc/power scaling of AMPERE....if anything its a double down on undervolting....theyve quickly GROWN to become the same methodology of AMD gpus.../big navi. Where most ppl are majority better off undervolting out of the box. Let alone the 5800x needs to be core voltage optimized to be worth owning out of the box itself LUL
Thanks for the video. Short, concise, on point. I have a question as well: As far I understand, it seems the new 4000 series have much better performance compared to the previous gen when one plays is 4K. So, for someone who wants to play at 1440p max (I don't like very big monitors), do you recommend an older, less expensive 3000 series card or the new 4000 series? Thanks.
well to be honest, i run a 1440p monitor, and i still picked this card up. i plan on getting a bigger monitor so i can do 4k later on when i have more money but, it is still a beast. if you want one, and can afford it, dont just NOT get it because you dont game in 4k. anyone who says that is being stuckup. like seriously. you bought a porsche 911? why would you do that? you dont do professional drifting and race car driving... it just doesnt really make any sense.
2:15 - Gigabyte doesn't honor the warranty period with just failed/malfunctioning fan. I had a quite a battle with them with my RTX 2060 OC which ultimately lead to me just ignore them alltogether.
😁 Looks like those of us who bought the H500M can feel rather smug as it comes with a GPU support arm pre-included with the case along with those massive 200 mm intake fans. No need to faff about with an extra thing to install onto the case or motherboard tray for chunky graphics cards. Having said that, I'm personally not buy any Nvidia GPUs with my hard earned cash. If others want me to buy one when building their PCs I have no qualms in doing that as it's not my money it's theirs.
Good video. Minimal messing around. I have a hx1000 psu and a 13700kf cpu. I'm thinking the psu will easy handle my build based on your rm850x doing a Stellar job. Thx
I'm going to be looking at how loud cards are. You mentioned it but I'd love to see it mixed in with the charts. I don't want a vacuum cleaner running next to me.
Yep for most non AAA games these cards are all so quiet these days bc of how easy they run NON AAA/Badly optimized api/engines...just about anything else these GPU jump/skip to yield frames on with minimal power compared to previous gen. ESP when you cap fps in these titles. YET you try to max out a AAA title or play on 4k/21:9 and see 70c+ which is often never touched in any other game/genre on these beefy gpu. its like night and day levels of temps/operation from the same system. If youre spending upwards of 2000$+ on a system....IDK how ppl DONT MAKE noise of operation PRIORITY 1. Its easily the first PROBLEM you have with your build/issue the noise and its not a QOL solution that comes cheap...esp if like me you COVET using open back HP for gaming K7XX, HD58X, Kph40. The difference in owning/needing a 2080ti strix oc/3070fe and 3070strix OC is the NOISE. Hell the 3070 FE has coil whine FML. Imagine that 2080ti level performance off a 2 fan gpu....you plop it into an ITX build...day 1 coil whine....Talk about a let down.
@@anhiirr I had an evga 1080ti I returned because it sounded like a vacuum cleaner. I ended up buying a strix for a few hundred extra and was much much happier.
all 3rd party gpu makers are all gonna make their stuff as cheap and plastic as possible... considering the fact that for them to sell at a cost effective price they have to manufactor as cheap as possible. either have to go FE or Liquid but its novidia for me.
Just managed to get a Gigabyte RTX 4090 OC today at Newegg for $1,876.93 after shipping and sales taxes, "interest free" with 12 installments of $157, which is the only reasonable / sensible way to get these expensive cards in my opinion. Wondering what would be a fair asking price for my barely used Asus Strix 3090 White. It's in pristine condition and comes with every single one of the accessories it came with in its original box.
@Jesus is Lord Thanks! I'm selling it tonight locally for $900. The 4090 just got here today. Big and heavy boi. What a card! I needed a total of four 8-pin PCIe power connectors to feed into the 12VHPWR adapter! It's so much larger than my Asus ROG 3090 Strix White.
@Jesus is Lord Yes, definitely, the 4090 is a decent step up over the 3090, particularly in 4K maxed out settings, without DLSS or other gimmicks - which I don't like to use. It consumes significantly less power too, especially if you cap at 60fps with G-Sync. In most games, it's very difficult to saturate this card. It goes underutilized even in 4K with pretty much everything maxed out. I hardly hear the fans on my test bench PC. My 3090 STRIX needed a lot more fan RPMs to cope with the higher power requirements to keep up with the high resolution and high settings. Whereas the 4090 has power to spear. Although, that should be changing in the next year or so. Games are becoming more demanding for sure. Honestly, I made a terrible investment when I bought my 3090. Crypto was returning 70 bucks a day back then. I bought this card for 2,600 after taxes, thinking I'd pay off the card in less than a year mining at home. In less than 4 months crypto mining crashed. Sold my 3090, with less than 2 years of light use for 900 bucks. I should have just kept the card to be honest. Paid 1,800 (157 x12) for the 4090. With the 900 I got from the 3090, plus a few aviation fuel rewards I've earned last year totaling 776 bucks, basically turned this GPU deal into a straight trade up. I don't have any debt so I don't really care about the money. Which is exactly why nVidia is getting away with these absurd prices. People are still buying these cards.
@@agoogleuser2369 Would you still recommend the gigabyte 4090 gaming oc? I have heard that asus and msi cards have horrible coil whine so im thinking about pulling the trigger on this. Also are the fans quiet?
I look forward to buying a 4000 series card in about 3 years time once they are realistically priced on the second hand market. I picked up a 1080 Ti two years ago and it was awesome value for money. It still plays all of my games on high settings 5 years after release.
Hello. I'm seeing some better pricing on this card in Canada now. I've been waiting to see what happens with pricing. I hate coil whine and many of the competitors 4090's seem to be having a problem with this. My question to you is, do you trust Gigabyte products? Some of the very large reviewers have been making some disparaging remarks in regards to Gigabyte and the reliability of their cards. I know they had a big issue with some power supplies and a ransomware attack but do you have an opinion on their card reliability? Thanks.
Those big coolers are a necessity, simply because power draw. Performance is impressive, but it's from scaling up existing technology, hence the increase in heat and large cooler. Locally 4090s are available today, but at 2000+ USD this release is for the few. *(EDIT: Actually, just looked up the Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT SE, it's one third of the price of a RTX 4090. I mean, get 3 RX 6900 XTs a the price of a single RTX 4090. What the actual f**k)*. Looking forward to the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070, but I'm pretty sure fps-increase over the 3000-series won't be as impressive. At this rate the best Black Friday offers will probably be a RTX 3080 or RX 6800 XT, both already kinda "dirt cheap" compared to the last 2 years prices. Anyway, great content as per usual.
The only truly interesting thing about these AIB cards is the thermal and acoustic performance compared to FE, not the performance which, as always, is more or less identical to the FE. I don't understand why no time is spent on thermals/acoustic graphs, but a lot of time and energy is spent on FPS charts that tell us what we already know: Identical performance.
@@Hardwareunboxed That's more useful than some FPS charts showing us that it's the same performance. We knew that already. The video would be improved by charts exploring noise-normalized thermals at different noise levels. Because THAT is what sets AIB cards apart, and you know it.
Derbauer made a good point about these products looking cheap and naff compared to the founders editions and I'm inclined to agree. I feel like this tier of product should be designed to look a bit more professional and high end but then I suppose if the board partners are already making wafer thin margins on these things then why would they want to make the effort for wildly different styles of shrouds when they can re-purpose the same one for 2 or 3 cards in the stacks.
tbh i dont care much about looks/shrouds. As long as the heat pipe design and vrm/ram cooling is more than ideal...for cases like passive cooling/idle use etc...vs a SHODDY design that in essence is worse than the FE....thats all that really matters to me, in my market many AIB are the same price as the FE, so theres really no differentiation other than warranty/brand/build aesthetics. Considering most of these cards have 0rpm/stock fan profies for idle etc...IM leaning towards the best THERMAL design or noise of operation under no-mid load....bc thats the majority of use id probably see myself. So id notice the fan design/noise/speed MOST from 4090 to 4090 if were talking clock to clock or same fan speed 50,60%-75% across all cards and the respective frequencies said cards could sustain....im HUMBLE enough to be happy with any 4090 i could get my hands on XD. But if i had a choice....it would be the best one from a thermal/noise standpoint. Looks is like my lastpriority or if im paying the utmost for the tippy top of the line options....id probably split hairs among the TOP line options and in that SENSE....LOOKS would ulitmately be a major determining factor if im paying 200$+ the FE price point. Since i expect the performance ranges to be somwhat simlar/competitive. The reason i say this is bc when enthusiasts try to go for MAX oc or ladder climb on air....the best card always wins based on board design/cooling vrm/vram orientation....and H20 Also exposes this aspect. It also translates to voltage ranges/temps and life/use of the GPU which one to me offers more potential life/high performance/thermals over the course of a couple years of heavy use and ownership. When it comes to these cards that are more like investments than tech purchases, i only really look at/for 2 things on these videos...noise normalized/testing, and signal/frequency latency response charts if the signal is solid vs a bunch of spikes...or just a design thats going to incur droop based on bad construction/board/hardware utilized.

Steve, it would be great to do a high performance/high efficiency build with a Ryzen 7950X + RTX4090 undervolted to see how much power you can reduced without losing much performance.
Der8auer tested the 4090 and noticed that setting the GPU to around 70% power has low perfomance impact and reduces the power consumption.

If there's even a profit margin for gigabyte. Ask evga what their partnership with Nvidia was like
@@Dionyzos thats a bad bad bad thing! Nice of nvidia to try to price out thier partners. Evga had the right idea leaving now.

Always the first videos to check out when something new is out! Thanks for you work guys
I wonder if their plastic design choice was for weight precautions vs being cheap to increase margins. Likely both
the Gaming OC has always been part of their cheaper lineup compared to the Aorus cards, kinda like Asus Tuf vs Strix. i'm sure the Aorus Master will somehow manage to be even more ridiculous lol
@@veganjoy How is it a cheap lineup lmao? It has higher clocks out of the box than the Asus Strix.
They are so helpful if you are returning to some videos to just get a super quick look at the results without helplessly searching through the video to find the right spot and having to listen to the sound to find some info that you could visually spot in mere seconds :x
Otherwise great review as always Steve and looking forward to more testing! :)
seriously ppl think im running uncapped cs:go or valorant with my 3070 strix...bc "thats what it was made for" on the contrary....ill still cap to 400....and my 3070 will sip power and honestly run those games at 0 rpm/passively. Even being able to cap older/past AAA titles in 4k to say 80 fps just to bog down the GPU noise for some casual controller shooting/hackn n slashn and looting is a QOL boost
gotta say, the camera setup for the solo Steve studio is MINT, so clear, in focus and nicely lit . nice job :)
@@anhiirr *paid
Thanks for confirming that you can run it on 850W PSU!
I understand why EVGA left NVIDIA.
I have one. It keeps so cool during gaming + benchmark and it overclocks like a charm.
Is it noisy?
What a relief they used a ventilated rear bracket to ensure that rear fin gets proper cooling. 😌
It can cool your system memory down at the same time!
@@VredesbyrdNoir Can also increase memory temps, it depends on the case / cooling design,
What a relief indeed. Now i can sleep at night.
Another reason why EVGA said no more.
Nvidia is kicking AIBs from the market if there is no difference between these cards.
They are even worse because they won't fit in so many cases.
That's true. EVGA did the right thing.
A lot of games actually use less power than other cards bc it doesn’t even break a sweat on it unless u have a really high frame rate monitor
Looks like EVGA made the right decision to get out when it did. I predict all the partner cards will perform within a few precentile points of each other. Nvidia screwing their partners again, by hamstringing them to a limited power/overclock barely better than the standard Nvidia FE model.
Yep..
But when were AIB cards...I dunno, 40% faster or faster than FE versions? 20fps or more? Pretty much never. There's always some kind of limit.

You could be pulling 1000W out of that 850W PSU all day no problems....
@@bismuth7730 yes it may be rated to be overdrawn by that much but I'm pretty sure that these companies aren't going to stake their warranties on it
I'll take comfort in this comment as a 1000 watt power supply having, 5800X3D owning, 4090 admirer.

If you guys are gonna do overclocking, you should do undervolting too. I'm curious how much less power these cards can use for the same performance.
exactly...a .925mv uv on my 3070 FE had it never past 250w and it helped curve the coil whine and keep the 0rpm stock fan curve intact w.o hitting a high fan speed/noise operation.

The Gaming OC is actually one of my favorite looking cards. Just a beastly huge heatsink with a glow from the RGB fans.
Seriously one of the questions i've had on PSU is answered at @ 11:48
At the Centrecom online store here in Australia the AiB RTX 4090's range in price from $2,959 to $3,799 AUD.

I wish gaming was still a fringe hobby and crypto didn't exist.
Good to see thermal pads on the back!
Lucky enough to snag one of these on best buy today :D

Wow, so much performance for space heater.
The GeForce RTX branding is required on all 4090 cards by Nvidia apparently, and can't be lit by RGB. This is according to MSI during their 4090 reveal.

Kinda looks like Nvidia has already optimized the 4000-series FE platform with the exception of power draw (Der8auer has a video on this), so there is no meat left on the bones for AIBs, so you get a support bracket (which the FE has an option for already). It's almost as if EVGA knew something...

@@nese1 No coil whine on my OC card. Very quiet overall.
I look forward to buying a 4000 series card in about 3 years time once they are realistically priced on the second hand market.
I picked up a 1080 Ti two years ago and it was awesome value for money. It still plays all of my games on high settings 5 years after release.
It still is, just without rays
Thanks.
They're £1899.00 here in the UK with the Aorus being £2,369.99.
and with the pound being so strong against the dollar an absolute bargain ... oh wait!
More time was spent on thermals than fps, like a lot more time. There's only so much you can say about acoustics. "it was this loud".... moving on.
The 4090 is impressive but it's $3300 here in Australia. Its hard to justify the price just to play video games
Hey, this channel makes great detailed videos. Do you know there's another MSI 1440p Monitor out there? It is the MSI 170Hz 1440p G-Sync Compatible G274QPF-QD. I hope a complete detailed video will come soon on this Monitor from this channel.
check their other channel Monitor Unboxed for in deep monitor reviews. The best I know.
