When I look at this Storyline it kind of parallels The US Soap Opera Guiding Light that first debuted on Radio in 1937 made the transition to TV in 1952 and in 1971 one of US Soap's Greatest Villians made his Debut. His name was Roger Thorpe played brilliantly by Michael Zaslow (1944-1998) who died of Lou Gerig's Disease. He was one of the most sadistic Villains on US Soaps who could give Archie a run for his Money. He lead his beautiful Young Wife Jenna Bradshaw who was pregnant with his Baby that she owned Spaulding A Multi Million Dollar Enteprise and that it was robbed out under her father. Roger falsified documents, and when she found out she was heartbroken, and furious with some justification. When she told him that he wouldn't see their Baby, he scared her so bad she had a miscarriage. If you can, Check Out "Who Shot Roger Thorpe". Janine reminds me of another one of Roger's Wives Dinah Marler played by Gina Tognoni who now plays Phyliss on The Young & The Restless. She does bad things and then justifies it.

She was in Heartbeat playing the part of a woman suffering from domestic abuse by a violent husband. She was SO different. Very meek and timid. Hair was dark and it suited her.

Wow, I thought that Us Soap Villains were bad but not even Roger Thorpe was as cruel as this. He was played by Michael Zaslow 1944-1998 who first started as Dr. Dick Hart on Search For Tomorrow, then as Peter Chernak on Love Is A Many Splendored Thing, but in 1971 he would debut as the sinister Roger Thorpe on Guiding Light that he first played from 1971-1979 then from 1989 to 1997 when he got sick and had to leave because he had Lou Gherig's Disease who died the year afterwards. If you can check out Who Shot Roger Thorpe and you'll see what I mean.
@@laminage Forgotton the actors name who played Archie Mitchell, but he did play Mick (Michael) in Gavin and Stacey, where James Corden came from rather, who wrote it with the girl who played Ness (Vanessa). Correction was Larry Lamb of course who played Archie.

janine was great around here, from 2008-2010 they wrote janine really well but everything after that was not as sharp as the writing for the show did go down from 2011.

@@jeremysmith54565 yea i think Bryan kirkwood tried to take the show in a certain direction in 2011 with the Ronnie baby swap story line and it just kind of all fell flat on its face from then on.
charlie brooks looked unreal hot here,she looked much better in her second stint than in her younger years

yea but i think she genuinely did love him though at the end in her own messed up way as he was the father figure she'd lost. The writers left that part somewhat ambiguous.

It would have been more realistic if it was Janine who killed Archie because of this. Stacey doesn't seem like the kind of person to kill anyone.
Except no one would have sympathised with her if it was Janine. They wanted a sympathetic killer.
Actually they wanted peggy i think initally to be it but then the actress resigned from the show around the time they were penning the story when they had wanted the killer to be available for the long term. They had considered janine but thought she has killed before so no repeat, they then took it to stacey. I have heard conflicting reports on this though as the latter piece of information the head writer said in digital spy. However i saw Diedrick Santer in an interview and he said from the very beginning Stacey was his killer and nobody else.
Although she's done away with blokes or people who ve dared to cross her for far less than the abuse she suffered at Archie's hands I think I and most viewers would ve expected it to be Ronnie. It would be made more sense than Peggy but somehow I think Ronnie wouldn't have it in her to strike the fatal blow to her father

Frank was married to Peggy before Archie, and she mentioned him once or twice, as to begin with, she compared Archie to Frank.
Saying they were similar. Charming, had the gift of the gab, and knew how to charm their way out of anything.
And Janine spoke about him, I think she mentioned him to Archie in this episode, and she also said 'Archie reminded her of her dad'
Even though Frank was never as evil as Archie.

I don't hold with violence, or excessive use of force, but anyone more evil than janine butcher,( butcher by name and butcher by nature) I have yet to come across. She deserves every evil and bad thing that ever happens to her.
She wasn't all evil though. She did show empathy. She was just pretty damaged.
Nick Cotton would probably be the only villain in Eastenders with absolutely no redeeming qualities.
