Excellent!
So True. Everything in a form is just a moment in time. The same goes for stance work. I learned a lot of footwork, stance work for structure, and angles for entry that later had to be applied to actual sparring. Great to see someone actually applying Kung Fu concepts into actual sparring. Actually using some of the stance work too.
I agree with you about Facing. You find in many videos where the wing chun practitioner doesn't reface or take any angles which consequently they get demolished.
Right! I feel people forget that protecting/attacking the centerline really comes from shifts and angles
Nice breakdown, I have a little Wing Chun in the mix of skills I have picked up, I find certain techniques come out automatically, you don't think about it, they just happen, touch reflexes I suspect, all that drilling and Chi Sau still paying off.
Exactly!
In my opinion, Wing Chun was designed to bridge the gap between striking and clinching, and was not meant to be a stand alone style. That's why it has no beginning, and no end.
It's so fascinating thinking about what the art was meant for, and that idea does make sense as it's a derivative style, super fun to explore, the only thing I'm pretty much certain about at this point is that the theory clicks when you have someone with no space to move back
Have you used some of the Wing Chun elbows in your fights?
Unfortunately no, they're illegal in amateur matches, but I did a lot in padded sparring sessions
Great stuff as always
Thank you, hoping this video will blow up (not because of it's message I just want to get 1k before you do I'm totally not salty at all😤)
@@martialgeeks 😂😂😂😂😂😂
So basically, it's minimal thoughts unga bunga muscle memory autopilot when you step into the ring
Pretty much, muscle memory takes over, but it's not without thoughts and plans, it's just that the time between a thought and action must be more or less non existant
There is no time to think about what you’re going to do in a fight
Bruce Lee says it best “The Asian pear can not be eaten if it’s too sour.”
Totally get this video, I'm a wing chunner that don't do the real wing chun 😂
Lol, my wing chun could also be called "not real" by people as it's mostly my own thing, I had minimum of formal wing chun training, but I've been studying it and applying it for many years now 🤷♂️
@@martialgeeks fake kung fu !!!!!!!! 😆
@@MartialArtUKof course you’re not doing real wing chun….youre not Chinese….
