I find the fish and chips in Wetherspoons is as good as a lot of the expensive gastro pubs that charge £20+!

I had fish and chips yesterday, in Wimbledon, really good as usual and fantastic value for money!

Great videos mate, thanks for all your efforts. Congratulations on 10K, may your channel continue to grow. Yeah, Weatherspoon's food ain't that bad, I work nights and at the end of my work week I always enjoy a large breakfast with black pudding and a pint of real ale. I've had their steak and mixed grill before though and they were sadly lacking compared to other pubs. It depends on which spoons you go to though. 👍👍

Cant beat spoons fish n chips
Had fish and chips last week in the George hotel weatherspoons Brecon South Wales. Was very good , very popular. Great value. Previously had same at a fish and chip takeaway in the town for £12. It was quite small and poor value . Spoons way cheaper and better quantity. So that was a bonus for spoons.

I wondered why it was so busy, but then i realised its next to the University...
It seems a decent portion and good value , frozen chips can never be as good as chip shop chips but you know that and accept it , a good meal.
But the real question is....Deep fat fried homemade chips or chip shop chips ???

Everyone says they only microwave. I have seen the kitchens as a contractor. I can assure you they have conventional ovens as well.

Spoons fishn is fine. I had a small one which was quite big enough and a glass of wine for around 7.50 outer London. Chips are good fish not soggy. No probs.

Glad you had a 9/10 experience because i had about 6 weatherspoons fish & chips down south and it was only 7/10 as too smaller fish.Maybe they have upped their standard in 2024?

They do a 2pm-5pm deal on fish and chips. Around £7-£8 then.
They're meant to serve anything but a well done steak in 10 minutes or less. As a wetherspoons mystery diner I've eaten 10's of fish and chips. They vary. Looks like you got a good one and nice portion as well. The one I had last week was overcooked.

im a big fan of a spoons fish and chips, they even do lightly batterd if you ask for it, spoons spot once more. just look at the price as well,

Freshly fried they say.. so should be. Me & the Mrs loved it, had it loads of times. Last time was awful. They even brought us more fish out, & it was as bad as the first. Real shame, it's put her off. To be honest I just think we had a bad day. Yours looks amazing.. P.S. we eat at Weatherspoons a lot. 👍

If you do another Spoons series or Spoons one off mate, it might be worth checking out the Scarsdale Hundred here in Sheffield. The owner of Spoons Tim Martin reckons it’s the best Spoons he’s ever opened. It is really nice tbf. ✌🏻

After working at Wetherspoons for three years, I can confidently say that the fish is not microwaved. The fish is thawed on Thursdays and then battered and fried to order on Fridays.
It did look nicely cooked!

shouldn't need tartar sauce if its decent fish, tartar sauce was invented back in the day before we could transport really fresh fish, it was to cover up the taste of fish that had traveled a distance and wasn't that fresh anymore

Vinegar on first salt just sticks on top of the chips salt on first the Vinegar mix it all through the chips
