My wife was born and raised in that area, Globe/Miami, Stafford/Thatcher, Clifton/Morenci with many generations of her family worked and still working for those mines so I had spent many days on and around those tracks. We have not been back in that area for 10 years, but back then those tracks were so bad the A&E were derailing a train almost on a weekly basis. Judging from your video even though the line is now owned by the G&W the tracks clearly have not gotten any better.
Ya, that sounds about right. The boxcar I was in in was probably the most likely ride to derail that I have ever been on. Coincidently, the second worse ride I've ever been on was on the Sunset, but on the Nogales 'Beer Train' boxcars headed back towards Tucson.
It was a journey! I've been wanting to ride this line for a while, and I'll be back to do the Morenci spur at some point. RIP SP, I'd have loved to see all the lines before the mergers.
Ya...I was starting to really worry about derailing there for a long while. It felt like I was on a ship in the ocean. Same goes for the last time I rose the Sunset line. Same thing, except on an old Canadian grain car.
Great video, new subscriber. YO=our video came up in my feed after watching Hobo Shoestring (RIP). Love your work and knowledge
glad to see you back

I didn't realize you had a channel when i chatted with you on that other site. Great video and I'll catch more as they come.

Awesome man, always enjoyable!
Rode that in Nov of 95. Was still an all SP operation back then. Good times!

SPSF should've been a thing. SF ruined the BN for good and now we can't get shit
Two new videos nice! 😎
Beautiful scenery. Thanks for the ride. Oh and hang on, I thought you were going out the door.
Ya...but life happened. And who better to save me than trains.
Great video as always! Hope to see more. I hope those Globe Police weren't coming for you lol! Can't wait to see more videos!

Ya...I heard right after they knew...RIP Shoestring. Dude was legend, and will be missed.
Wide open spaces
