REI CO-OP Store Tour + Backpack Fitting + Why it's Important

- Come along as we tour the REI CO-OP Store in Mechanicsburg PA and I get Fitted for a Backpack. As a newbie to overnight backpacking I really didn't know where to start when moving from my simple day pack to overnight backpack. I did all my research online and watching different hikers on TH-cam. But, came away with so many questions like: What's the right size for me? What's the right type? How do I adjust it to fit right? What happens if I choose the wrong one and I end up with an expensive piece of gear that collects way more dust than dreams!
This choice is going to be one of my "BIG THREE" and I wanted to make sure I got it right the first time.
Soooo - When I heard REI did pack fittings and their staff helped you choose the right pack based on the type of hiking you'd be doing - I made the trip to the store
I actually bought this pack the day before the filming of this video and because it was such a positive experience I drove back the next day and filmed the process to help others that want to spread their wings into a longer outdoor adventure. But, are held back in fear of making the wrong gear choices.
I highly recommend the staff at REI as a tremendous asset in helping you over the hurdle that holds you back from your next Random Adventure!

Great advice on checking the seams on those hiking pants, l wear those exact same brand and I never thought to look there. I've had Lyme disease twice and to be hospitalized one time it was no joke. That pack should serve you well Osprey makes great gear, and nice end credits 😉.
Oh my Walter Lyme is no joke. Love the pack. Had it out Sunday night for a stealth overnight and it fit all my hammock system it felt real good. Learned ill have to pack a little different to make a few thinks more accessible. Love those pants and that they can breakdown to shorts. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching Bob. I am glad I went in for a fitting. Have a feeling I would have picked the wrong one and regretted it a couple miles down the trail. Feels really comfortable loaded up at 28lbs when I test hiked with it the other day.
