After 45 years of being a musician here is my feedback: After watching the Mavericks countless times they've always been repeatedly excellent both musically and especially entertaining. In Scottsdale their performance was stoic and weak, rarely a smile from either. Their performance can be blamed on two things: 1) the acoustic design of the theater 2) the engineer sound mixer could not get a good sound mix because of a poorly designed stage. Before the concert the project manager (out of towner) for the Scottsdale Civic Center said that the city of Scottsdale spent $33.5 million on the project he also said what a "beautiful stage and venue they created," he applauded Mayor Ortega for the job he did. In reality, however, the acoustics of the theater fell well below the what was charged for general admission. The theater lighting was substandard for a concert. The pink, blue and white overhead lights created a luminescent appearance somewhat like an out of space movie, what happened to overhead spots? Typically, outdoor theaters were designed after the Hollywood Bowl which is conducive to the best possible acoustics for an outdoor event. Not so in Scottsdale, AZ. All in all, unless something isn't done acoustically my wife and I will be using the Scottsdale Civic Center for a stroll in the $33.5 million dollar park. Do you really want to fork over $62.50 each for poor acoustics and poor lighting? Think about it? I don't blame the Mavericks for a poor performance.
Az általam igazán megkedvelt Mavericks együttesnek semmi köze nincs ehhez a bevezető képhez. Több órát hallgatom éjszakánként a zenéjüket, egyre jobban elájulok tőlük.
I was at this concert, and it was FANTASTIC. I was pretty much on my feet dancing for the entire concert.
Thanks for sharing your footage.

Dino was fillling in for Paul while he recovered from open heart surgery. Paul was back on drums in Nashville a few days later.
