as a fellow Veteran who nearly went off the rails after leaving in '96 - I hear a lot of similarities with Rich's story to my own & many, many other Veteran's stories. Good work Rich, turning it around & doing a lot of good mucker. @Shaun another great interview.
Shawn this gentleman's story about seeing his Dad in ICU really got to this old man. You have an awesome thing going with your shows and causes all the way around young man.
Found this guy on tiktok and decided to watch all of this. Wow what a crazy story. Very well spoken too. Definetly going to purchase his book tonight 👍
I have the biggest smile on my face right now thinking about being 19 and 20 years old, deep in the underground Los Angeles rave scene. As you guys were naming all the different pills you remember, I was experiencing the same nostalgia thinking about all the bomb that was out here during my time. I feel like ecstasy is the kind of thing that if you've done it, and you pause to remember it, it's almost like going into a temporary time machine in which you can feel it momentarily as if you had just taken it for the first time. Does that make sense? Or is it just me? LoL
Great interview. Brought back many memories of my misspent youth in the rave scene of the 90's! Much kudos to Rich for the work he's doing with imprisoned veterans.
The amount of times I have tried to explain to People that when Pills were the thing, free Parties, Clubs, or House Parties, we never had Problems - No fighting, just Dancing & enjoying ourselves, rarely we would have issues, funnily enough if we ever did it would always be issues caused by the "Beer Heads" as you would call them!
I often think if I could just drop 1 last pill for the old times... always a house to go after the clubs end, or the woods funnily enough - wicked raves in the woods haha x
Really enjoyed that. Very articulate and interesting guy. He's quite guarded with some of his stories and doesn't mention many names for obvious reasons but I bet he's got some amazing stories that aren't suitable for public consumption

WOW, unreal interview, good old days, great info for mum with a young grunt and understanding when he says that i don't get it, thank you so much for sharing how you felt Rich, i can now support him better in his new environment.
Really interesting show, fascinating insight on your life experience. Firstly, thank you for your service, Rich. One can disagree with the politics around global conflict but the dedication and sacrifice of the human being wearing the "Boots on the ground" can only be respected and admired. It is a sad truth that this sacrifice is most often and profoundly reaped after active duty comes to an end. Thanks for your efforts in tackling the issues which have become your new enemy. I hope that one day your work will be unnecessary.

@@throughadversitypodcast3730 your very welcome mate. I have only just started to watch shauns podcasts again since wild man died! so thanks, i think a part 2 would be great
My rave days began in late 90s at homelands and godskitcen and started taking 1 or 2 pills aswel but within 2 years was probably taking 10 to 15 pills at a rave. Complete madness lol. Would I do it all again. Hell yeah

Pillz back then where definitely ket based I had some that where heavy with ket it literally took me 40 mins to skin a joint up because the edge of the skins/rizla where flashing at me with a back border making it nearly impossible to line the skins up lol
Can’t imagine the conversation he had when he got home from jail on bail after 4 weeks. The first time his wife had him alone after finding out she had been living in money from cocaine dealing, I feel the pain mate 😂. My journey was kind of the opposite, got into clubs out of school and the other stuff followed for 8 years. I knew the police were coming on top, so I joined the Army and straightened my life out before I ended up behind the door. The thing with cocaine is, as you said, the customers are different and the supply chain comes from some heavy characters. Very easy to get in too deep! A great story (for a Tanky 😉) and respect for the work with veterans.
