Just found this video and have got to say fair play to you guys showing the problems that rust can cause and the way you got over it. As they say fore warned is fore armed.
I have a V50 in Australia (rust free environment - no salt on the roads which causes all the rust) Volvo used thread locker on these bolts. I needed to use a Blow torch to heat the bolts to melt the thread locker to remove. You must heat the bolt to remove as thread locker is the issue ( not rust). If you don't use heat you will strip the Torx Head on the bolt & will have to use a dremel or grinder to cut the hub off like these guys did in this video 4:42. Ediit update = I used a cheap Propane Gas Torch as thread locker melts at 250 C. No need to buy an expensive MAP gas torch
Holy F%£$! Just had the same problem and worse. Even support screws didn't came loose. That was some hardcore 6hr work on the ground to change my stupid bearing. But in the end of the day, i feel like a man a little bit more :D
I've found that if you clean the loose rust from the threads then hot wrench, they will spin right out. My hot wrench is just Mapp gas with a can mounted torch.
Hi, may I ask how about the seal ring of the ABS sensor? The ring looks bigger than the whole. I think it is neccessary to keep not falling into the bearing. But is it neccessary to have it?
@@LeadFootash23 . I've found electric hot air guns useful and perhaps a little safer. Those bolt heads looked pretty puny. What's wrong with a hex head Ford?
@@charlesdale1462 yeah those bolts are fairly useless The first one stripped so easily that I just resorted straight to the angle grinder, may have maybe got 2 of them out with a bit of heat/persistence but there was no chance with the other 2. It seems really stupid using those kind of bolts somewhere they know is going to corrode 🤷

Worked for me too. V50, heat gun, plus gas, wire brush, patience.

Hey i got a v50 2.0,more videos to come?thanks.
Yeah we'll definitely be filming stuff on the V50 as and when we do anything 🙂
Some heat may have helped getting bolts unseized
Yeah possibly, we didn't have anything to hand at the time though as the blow torch we have had run out of gas.
Always the way when you need it 😅
