  • I have reviewed a ton of Srixon Golf Balls. Now it's time for the final piece of the mainstream Srixon Puzzle. How does the Q star line up despite its higher price point!

    Agreed. It he Srixon line is great. Knock 5$ off and it’s more palatable. I will have to try the Cut Red this winter. Last winter had success with the Trufeel.

      Stick around also, the next couple of reviews I have coming out are two-piece golf balls that are going to be very good. Just a little insider information ;-)

    I used to play these a while back and bought them for price as there was less to offer.
    But now with so many better options like dtc’s I’m not sure these cheaper OEM options are worth it.
    Great review!

    Using the same irons as you I just used this out on the course yesterday. Found a couple things about it I liked, and some I didn't like. Likes: I hit every par 3 green including one to 2 feet for an easy tap in birdie. Balls appears to fly high, excellent accuracy, and stops on the green really well.
    Downsides. I don't like the feel of it at all. It feels hard and noisy to me compared to the Maxfli Tour X's I've been playing recently. Those seem to check all the boxes for me currently.

      It's definitely a lot louder than I would expect it to be. I mean even on the chips around the green you could hear the microphone pick up that loud click.

      Yeah compression doesn't seem to matter anymore.

    The Q star tour in South Africa is top seller uses a urethane cover , never see that issue with cover . Unless you hit a tree or cart bath very normal wear . Good all rounder . Seems in US it’s different ball altogether

    • @GolfBallAddict

      The regular q star does not have a urethane cover. The q star tour does though and it's fantastic

    Any consideration on Drivers? I had seen the driver review you did a while ago. I have always struggled with driver even after lessons. A couple months ago I gave up and decided the mini driver route and have dropped about 5 strokes as well as dropped my Handicap. The smaller head and shorter shaft seems to have keep me in the fairway at about an average of 220 yards. (I play yellow tees). Swing speed about 93-95. Finally breaking 90 this summer regularly. Anyhoo would love to see you test out some of the smaller head low spin drivers like the new Mizuno and the BRNR. Thanks and enjoy your reviews.

      I had full intentions of doing driver reviews and iron reviews this year. Unfortunately life got in the way. Two kids under two now, and also I just don't think it's time yet. I haven't even mastered or gotten all the golf ball reviews yet. So it seemed not the right timing. I definitely agree that having a shorter shaft is something a lot of players need to look at. The standard 45 and a half to 46 is too long and too sporadic.

    Hey Nick I feel you should redo your reviews on the vice golf balls and the Cuts because you had different clubs and methods of measuring and for srixon, I wouldn't even considered it especially with the durability that poor.

    • @GolfBallAddict

      I completely agree. I have those balls ready to be tested again, so it will happen soon sometimes this year. Just trying to get a push on ones I haven't tested first

    Not a fan of Qstar BUT the Q star TOUR is an amazing ball. Great in the wind, straighter off the tee so many times longer, feels great off the putter (REALLY GOOD, LIKE BETTER TGAN PRO V1 FEEL) performs as good as any more expensive ball around the green, and to me, most importantly STOPS wothin a few feet on the green, even with long irons

    • @GolfBallAddict

      The q star tour is definitely one of my favorites. I play them quite frequently on the course

    • @GolfBallAddict

      No I have been using the swing caddy for over a year now. A lot more consistency and better numbers

    @golfballaddict I'm trying to decide between cut red and q star or q star tour. I feel like I get same spin, distance, height etc with q star and cut.
    I'm shifting into better golf. Getting below 80. Will q star tour actually help me score better around greens etc?
    I'm used to roll out with 2 piece balls. Trying to Guage whether more spin will actually help or hurt, or even make a difference in terms of score. Always trying to save $. Is it worth 2 or 3 times the money for the 3 piece, vs cut red?

    • @GolfBallAddict

      Honestly it depends on the type of player. I would definitely recommend picking up a sleeve of them just to see if they improve your game. Also be on the lookout for the buy two get one free sale they run. At that price it's definitely worth upgrading. The cut red is kind of lost some muster with me over the last year. The q star tour is one of my favorite golf balls. Right now it would get the recommendation for me.

      @GolfBallAddict thank you! I was leaning that way too. So i tried them. The qstar tour was almost 10 yards longer off tee for me and of course spun better near green. Everything else was similar. So I'm going qstar tour! Love your vids man! Helped me a lot to narrow it down

    9:35 the damage is caused by hitting into a net, on course there is not as much damage from clubs

    I don't really understand the complaints about price.. they're the same cost as the 2023 Bridgestone e6, and just a couple dollars more per dozen than the new Soft Feel and Callaway Supersoft etc (which are way too squishy for a lot of players), Q-Star is around 70 compression which fits that medium swing speed quite well. Also, as a non-US resident you ain't getting your hands on any Snell balls, trust me, so those aren't even an option for a lot of people. Maybe something like the TaylorMade Distance+ is competition since it's cheaper and around 70 compression also.

      It's pretty hard for me to gage golf balls based on what you can get overseas. I'll just have to plead ignorance on that. However here are just a few golf balls that I have tested on the channel that have better results and are cheaper per golf ball then the q star:
      Cut red
      Wilson zip
      Wilson duo
      Wilson tour velocity
      E6
      Titleist trufeel
      Snell get sum
      Oncore avante 55
      Pinnacle Rush
      Srixon soft feel
      Precept laddie
      Mizuno rb
      Maxfli straight
      Super soft Max
      Top flite gamer
      Top flite xl
      That's just to name a few. Unfortunately price and value do matter and at 28 per dozen, that's expensive for a 2 piece ball

    have you done the srixon marathon ball or is that just a softfeel?

    • @GolfBallAddict

      I haven't done the marathon yet. I eventually will, however the reason I don't is because here in the States they aren't readily available. You have to purchase online. Same with the ad33

  • @tonythaiger93

    Ad333 (q star) is the most sold balls in 🇬🇧 i believe, but i agree that durability is terrible. I would rather spend a few dollars for the qstar tour, which is a urethane cover vs. ionomer.

    • @GolfBallAddict

      I've heard those stories about the ad333. I know it's extremely popular overseas. For good reason though, tricks and does a great job with their two-piece and beginner 3-piece golf balls

  • @user-rs3eh8jd5b

    I believe this is sold in Europe as AD333 and you can always find it on sale somewhere. So the price con is less relevant.

    • @TheFazhA2387

      In South Africa golf stores stock the AD333 and the Q Star with slight price differences, if not mistaken the Q Star replaced the AD333 Tour ball.

    A good ball, but at that price and the state of the ball after the shots really is a let down. The competition in this range beat it hand over fist.

    • @GolfBallAddict

      It's really awesome how far we've come. If this golf ball was tested years ago, I would have given it a glowing recommendation. Now because we have a greater sample size, we can really ween out the difference between good and great

    Q star series feels heavy of the face for some reason.

    • @GolfBallAddict

      Yeah it's definitely a first for me. A 2 piece golf ball that feels dead and slow but the numbers are still good

    • @ChildoftheMostHigh1

      @@GolfBallAddict it isn't a bad ball and the feel can be adaptable but I wonder if next year's Q Star will have a crisper feeling. We all value that crisp feeling in our shot.

      Thank you for taking the time to comment.
      I think you are confusing the q-star with the q-star tour. The q-star is indeed a two-piece golf ball. I went ahead and double-checked after reading your comment.
      However I will say the q-star tour is one of my favorite golf balls and made it inside my top 10.
