This is the second instalment of mad about livescope, In this video I talk about the struggle to find fish locally after four major hypoxic blackwater events since 2011.
I was a sceptic with this technology having caught a couple of decent cod with out live tech in the boat but when I work out the hrs and hrs of fishing , time and money spent on fuel , food and camp fee's. I can see the value in this tech . I am now saving to install a Garmin unit in our boat for time purpose and to increase the learning experience of how fish react to moon , weather and angler pressure. Love the video's your putting up. Keep it up and tight lines.

Hi Ray, each to their own mate when it comes to live tech. It’s not for me but don’t begrudge anyone using it. It would be an amazing learning tool I believe, so I’m happy to sit back watch and listen to what everyone that has it shares. I fish a lot but for me it’s about getting away and doing it, I love the anticipation that comes with every cast and the surprise of the hit. I feel I’d get frustrated with live tech, hence why I don’t have. Keep doing what you do, I really enjoy your work 🍻
Cheers Tim & thanks for watching 😊 It's the same game but different, I used to expect a strike from every good cast into the best location but as you would know they always came as a surprise when it does happened, now I've searching for fish, watching them follow and it comes as no surprise when they don't strike 🥺 it's self inflicted torment some days and the best thing to see and feel on others.

Great video Ray, I enjoy your presentations and the way you express your opinions. It is very easy to get caught up in the scope rubbish. I like the fact that you are competitive and go fishing to catch fish! Good on you for sticking at it and persisting with the scope you will find some incredible fish 🎣🎣
31,mine blowing - was up on the Murray last week just after the flow and only saw the 1 for the day. Magically fish mate- well done. Some great footage, what a take.
Cheers Grazza😊 That's been the norm up here, in april I seen about 11 cod on one trip, most in the middle of the river running along the bottom, up where you did your last vid the most I've seen was 3 one morning and two of them couldn't get away fast enough, the third one wasn't as smart 😉
I get what those people say about the live scope but like you said, your still throwing top water but their not hitting. The knowledge you gain from using them about their behaviour towards certain lures and actions is priceless, you’d be questioning your fishing ability if you were snag bashing and not getting a touch when in reality their not there. Those people are kidding themselves if they’d flick all day for a donut when the live puts the odd in your favour.

Great to watch another one of your vids Ray. Excellent. I cant remember the last time i seen a boat on the lake with no scope on it ! Every ones got it except the hatters and the tight arses .

Nice vid Ray ! Been a fan of your work for years … But after hearing of 31 fish over a weekend do you think live scope will impact wild cod in rivers to the point of the fisheries stepping in and knocking it on the head ?
Cheers Mothy 🙂The story I've heard more than once is they want to stock all the Dams and then close the rivers to fishing for wild Cod anyway, I hope this never happens but the way they are locking up the bush it's happening right in front of our eye's anyway. Wild river Cod do a fantastic job stocking themselves naturally (when they get the chance) but the currant green policy of not being allowed to control the forest Barmah & Moira is doing 10,000 times more damage to wild river fish than scope ever will, I know the few fish I'm finding downstream of Barmah forest are doomed in the next big flood, it's already happened 4 times in the last 13 years.

Sometimes I fish with a scope, and sometimes I fish without it. I'm over 50 YO and I couldn't give a flying f*** what anyone says about it. I'm old enough to remember people saying the same stuff about sounders. Nice fish, keep at it mate 👍🏻

Hi Ray,sorry about all the questions but I respect your skills. What’s your opinion on the 1oz scope bait compared to the 1 oz cod jig and also colour comparisons understanding that is probably about water clarity.
Two very different lures Neil, The scope bait is designed to get down to the fish quick and then hang in their face for a long time once you click the reel into gear, The Cod-Jig crash dives down to the fish fast and is easily controlled once it gets their because of the big paddle tail. I like to use the Scope Bait the crash through the timber, If the fish gives up it's hiding spot and follows the scope bait out but doesn't eat then I go to work with the Cod-Jig, kind of like gunning them down on the run. Colour ? The rule is dirty water dark colours, but i've always gone with dirty water floro colors here in the murray, but it's probably the lure that gets in their face when they are hungry that will get eaten the quickest 😀
Enjoy the content ray well done but the electronics are just to expensive the recent fishing at mulwala with a scope was like fishing fish in a barrel let's see how many meters are caught when they fill it good onya mate waiting for the next one 😊😊😊
I just can not believe what the scope has done to the Murray cod scene. It’s the perfect marketing to convince native fisherman, particularly those new to the sport that they simply cannot catch without one and will left behind if they don’t purchase one. And then those who helped create everything Murray cod fishing was are now contributing to its destruction. So so sad.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment Morgan 🙂I know for a fact you don't need Livescope to catch native fish, if the newer guys took the time to learn how to troll in the faster water they would have a lot more luck, But trolling a lure is seen as old fashioned not worthy of learning, or punching spinnerbaits into timber around the fast water which is also seen as old fashioned, requires lots of fishing skill but still seen as old fashioned. Instead they want to cast a $80 swimbait around because it's the current trend or turn the water to froth with surface lures because that worked really well before we educated all the fish, not to mention a little easier to cast and retrieve not having to learn how to unsnag your lure every now and then! The sad but true fact is most living creatures will take the quickest path to achieving their goals, Everyone wants a meter plus Cod to their name and want it now, just so long as it's not on bait, trolled up on a hardbody ect ect 😉

Ive just spent 3 months stuck at home waiting for and now recovering from surgery so ive seen more than enough cod videos to form an educated opinion 🤣 Im hoping to get down and have a crack before the season closes so i might call in and grab a few lures of ya 👍👍
my new stratagy is just electrofishing and zapping them too the surface, I dont make the cod stay within the electromagnetic feild, they can swim away if they are smart. Just a standard evolution of the times, anyone hating on my techniques are jelous. I got 40 cod in a day along with 6 over 80 out my of local river. Gotta get with the times!

Or maybe bad luck and poor water management has done 10,000+ times more damage than scope ever will?

I'll troll at what ever speed keeps my lure 1 meter off the bottom.
But 1.5 to 2.5 kmh is my preferred range.
