Once I made an old man listen to this song and he said, without understanding what he says, this song need a beach in front of you, mountains behind you and some weed in your hand. Gregory is one of the best musician of my generation and I'm glad I found his music, it just makes me feel good. Splendid lyrics, great voice and everything else goes along.
I heard this song on OpenAir while driving across Denver on a summer night with the windows down and a monsoon storm flashing lightning to the west towards the mountains. It was my introduction to Gregory Alan Isakov, and one of those rare perfect moments you sometimes have... Thanks, OpenAir!
Just heard Gregory Allen do an interview on PRB in Philly .....this guy is the real deal ...and the band is perfect .... I wish him and his mates all the best....they are a breath of fresh air........
The way they lean back and look at each other at about 2:13... They're just so in tune with each other, hopping on that same train as it rolls through. Amazing.
I'm fortunate to have a job that requires me to drive, I've been all over east Texas, south Texas and Louisiana. I'm going to be covering west Texas and New Mexico soon, I play this song a hundred time a week
I can't stop listening to this one. It's beautifully written, played, sung, and recorded. It just might be a perfect song! Thanks to everyone involved in making this video happen.
Heard this song on The Blacklist S03-E20 and had to Shazam it to find out what it was. Catchy, well written song. Going to check out more of his songs. If this is on vinyl I will be purchasing.
Traveling through the graveyard with a suitcase full of sparks Honey, I'm just trying to find my way to you Lit up every campfire I found out in the dark Oh, I cut down all the cottonwoods I picked up all the arrowheads off buffalo trails of the Indians The Oklahoma sky was cutting through Along the tracks with the Runaway, He just talks and talks and talks Honey, I'm just trying to find my way to you I quit counting stars that night in the cold by the satellite field And I quit panning gold, Digging holes Yeah, I'm just trying to find my way to you Swam across the Poncha Took a train to Cataloo Opened up my guitar case and all the songs were blue I haunted all the alleys Lord, I drifted down the valleys Honey, I'm just trying to find my way to you And I quit casting hooks off the California coast we held so dear And I quit flashing smiles, and running wild Yeah, I'm just trying to find my way to you Threw my bottle to the ocean, She never wrote me back All the countless days along the sea of blue Learned the language of the Mockingbird She took and twisted all my words Yeah, I'm just trying to find my way to you And I'll meet you in the graveyard With the winter trees and stars Oh, we could open up this suitcase full of sparks

once again, his #2 absolutely kills it with the harmonies.
Why doesn't he get more credit? The only acceptable answer is if he doesn't want it.

It's actually magic what they do

Traveling through the graveyard with a suitcase full of sparks
Honey, I'm just trying to find my way to you
Lit up every campfire I found out in the dark
Oh, I cut down all the cottonwoods
I picked up all the arrowheads off buffalo trails of the Indians
The Oklahoma sky was cutting through
Along the tracks with the Runaway,
He just talks and talks and talks
Honey, I'm just trying to find my way to you
I quit counting stars that night in the cold by the satellite field
And I quit panning gold,
Digging holes
Yeah, I'm just trying to find my way to you
Swam across the Poncha
Took a train to Cataloo
Opened up my guitar case and all the songs were blue
I haunted all the alleys
Lord, I drifted down the valleys
Honey, I'm just trying to find my way to you
And I quit casting hooks off the California coast we held so dear
And I quit flashing smiles, and running wild
Yeah, I'm just trying to find my way to you
Threw my bottle to the ocean,
She never wrote me back
All the countless days along the sea of blue
Learned the language of the Mockingbird
She took and twisted all my words
Yeah, I'm just trying to find my way to you
And I'll meet you in the graveyard
With the winter trees and stars
Oh, we could open up this suitcase full of sparks
What harmonica does he use in this song ? tell me please someone!
