I have a working SE and an FDHD that isn't currently working. I'd LOVE to put the components of the FDHD into a clear case like that.... until I get an SE/30. I can't wait to see this finished product! It's going to be one bad ass machine!
Wow! A Color Macintosh SE/30? That's freaking awesome! How hard are those PDS video cards to find? Also, do you have a link to the LCD you are using for this build?
Sadly the LCD link from eBay is no longer working but the model is in the screenshot in the video. There are quite a few PDS cards that offered external monitor support, but this was the only one I was able to grab via trade.
These cases are absolutely gorgeous, and I am torn and can't make up my mind. Part of me wants to keep my SE/30 stock (the case is only slightly yellowed and is in otherwise good condition.) But part of me wants to put it in one of these, and go full-on "PC case modder style" on it (some of those cold cathode tube lights, and/or maybe RGB lights, the whole shebang.)
I just adore my SE/30. I just had it recently recapped earlier this year, and one of these days I'm actually going to find time to put the darn thing back together!
I know you said no emulator stuff, but you said processor upgrades are out of reach, and the Amiga boys have been busy recently - I have yet to see someone really try to put an Emu68 in a Mac. I’ve seen one dude mess around and get PiStorm working in a Mac (Linux based 68k emulation on a Raspberry Pi meant for Amigas), but Emu68 is basically a real 68k (bare metal JIT emulation on a Raspberry Pi, no Linux) as far as your logic board would be concerned. It’s about $100 for the fully assembled PiStorm board, plus I am sure there is some sort of adapter to fit it in where the current CPU is.
I gotta say I loved the idea of these themed months at the start, but now there's so many it's almost like a yearly schedule now with people holding off on content until the "right" month. That aside, my gosh that is a gorgeously clear case, I expected more lens effects but the moulding is so precise :D
Since your replacing the backings with clear ones what are you doing with the original ones because I'm in need of the back casing I saw on ebay one last sold for $30aud a y chance you can sell me one if you have any spares I'm in Melbourne australia
I'd strongly recommend you look at places like Facebook groups and the TinkerDifferent forum. The costs of me shipping something so large to Australia would simply not be economical. Our postage rates to your country are probably double what you'd pay to send something here.
Sorry the eBay listing is no longer there. The best I could find is what’s in the video, the still frame I showed of the old listing has the model number. Good luck!
@@Mac84 I have one, and a few other SE/30 PDS cards. I always wanted to do the internal greyscale; I never found the needed card that replaced the standard card on the yoke. I wonder if they really existed! Reach out if you need parts - I’m in the process of deciding what to do with all of the stuff that I’ve accumulated over time.
Did you ever finish this? I'd love to see the build.
Did you ever manage to finish the project? It would be cool to watch if you have.
I’m working on getting the 3D printed frame right - but my printer isn’t big enough for the job, so it’s taking longer than anticipated
I love my clear SE/30. I honestly don’t use it all that much most of the time, but it’s always right next to me in my office looking amazing
The content you produce is honestly on par with that produced by LGR in my opinion.
Except better!
The PDS card is by far the best upgrade for the SE/30 in the transparent case!!

Not many old computers deserve so much NEW accessories! Macs do!
If this TH-cam and this channel existed in the 80s/90s this would the LTT of the era!
UV reactive leds and a cfl fan imho spray the crt with fluorescent paint for extra bling bling :)
This is brilliant - I have been looking to replace the CRT on my SE30 for years! Please post up the tutorial!
I will when it’s finished, the PSU I was going to buy is now unavailable but I’ll find a way…
Can't wait to see you start this project!
Thanks! I have more parts on the way to finally work on this.
Nice molar mac back there by the way!
But what do we put in this immense void between galaxies, er, between the screen and the back of the case? 😀
I love these cases! I do wish that they had done a frosted one that would look a bit like an iMac.
you should look into zinc coating all the metal, that’s a common thing in the car restoration hobby / industry
Wow that case is glorious, love your plans for it too.
I need to figure out what I have that would make a fun marchintosh video.

Great video Steve! I can't wait to see how this project turns out 👍
wow just wow, can't wait to see it all done! amazing, wish I could build one of my own :)
WOW! This is awsome. Cant wait!

The transparent classic mouse is awesome.
Hey do you know of anyone who's tried to recreate the cassis so you could really build a brand new se/30 in the 21st century
Does the LCD run at 66 Hz?
This is so freaking awesome!

A wonderful vid, a wonderful channel and wonderful shoutouts!
Subbed and cannot wait for more.
Someone needs to make a matching clear keyboard.
Copper plate the internal metal chassis!
Just wow!!!
Theres a CLEAR Case for it ????
EEEEE 🤩🤩🤩
How much did it cost you ?
How to build a machine vastly superior to a Color Classic.
Have the metal chromed
EEP go lcd >< :) , try some uv reactive material.... uv leds or cfl's , like the pumkintosh :)
Imagine something like that but for modern computers
Had no idea Macs of that time period could even do dual monitors.
Oh yes, the Mac SE and SE/30 both had third party options, and the Macintosh II from 1987 could drive up to 6 monitors!
Damn, thats HOT 🔥🔥🔥
I was thinking RasterOps ClearVue SE/30… 🙂
If I had one of those I'd consider it! But the Lapis will have to do. :-)

Wait, how is the build quality? Top notch?
TOP-NOTCH!
Ok cool.
