I want to live HERE | Puerto Escondido, Zipolite & Mazunte OAXACA

  • These are the most beautiful beaches in Mexico! If you want to find a peaceful place to relax and get away from the world, Oaxaca has the perfect beaches and towns for you. Here you won't find huge fancy resorts or a lot of development. These towns maintain their sleepy, peaceful atmosphere and I absolutely love them.
    I started off in Puerto Escondido, the biggest town in this area and home to the airport. Here I stayed in a hostel for digital nomads so that I was able to keep working. The internet connection is very poor in this area of Mexico and this is the biggest downside.
    After Puerto Escondido, we went to the nudist beach in Zipolite for a day before heading to the pueblo magico of Mazunte. All of these places along the Oaxacan coast have their charms and I recommend them to everyone.

    It’s gorgeous. I think it will be perfect for me. The air looks like it’s clean. As for the nudism, it won’t bother me. I’ll keep my close. As a retired nurse I have seen it all. Maybe Puerto Escondido my rejuvenate me to the point where I can surf again. I’m only 56 years old. Covid did a lot of damage to my body. A beautiful scenery and a disconnection to the ugliness of this world is the perfect prescription for recovery.

    So refreshing to see a video from a young woman, who is not solely filming what she's having for breakfast and what outfit she has on, but actually gives insight of what really is going on and gives some views of the locals, too!

    Hii I come from Philippines! I would love to visit Mexico in the future! I used to live in US for 1 year back in 2013, but I never had the chance to go to Mexico, but I want to now! After everything is okay and stable from the pandemic. I have been craving the food and I have been told Oaxaca has amazing food so I really hope to make it there at some point! Muchisimas gracias señora!

    I/we love Mexico and the friendly people. Would love to visit and see this area. In the 80's, used to go to Cozumel (Diving and just relaxing) back when it wasn't quite as popular yet (when they had the 1 original cruise ship port). Keep up the great work! Wife and I have seriously thought about retirement in Mexico, just not the Riviera Maya area. Too much noise, madness, turista's/gringos. I've heard that each state has their own Mezcal. Sign me up!

Queda muy cerca del centro y tod@s l@s maestr@s son buenísim@s!! Mazunte is soooooooooo much nicer (and cheaper, of course) than ANYWHERE on the Riviera Maya....way less developed and commercialized. I hope it stays that way! Have spent several weeks there on 3 or 4 separate trips....and will most definitely return soon!

    Zipolite is a great beach/town. It is true, the food there is amazing. The sand is soft and the sunsets are amazing. It is a small beach town, yet has many restaurants and cool little shops to check out. There is some nightlife in a few bars and beach clubs. The perfect place to relax on the beach with music and drinks. The entire beach is clothing optional. It is a fair mix and most people keep to themselves when nude. Just relaxing. On either end of the beach, the furthest side you will find more people tend to be nude. Some hotels are clothing optional and it is pretty much stated in the name of the hotel.

    Hola otra vez. My text was too long and could not be sent. I had to erase about 15 lines to send it. I'll try to remember what I erased. I guess I'm too wordy for the internet, or at least TH-cam. To reach Puerto Angel it was necessary to drive inland from Puerto Escondido almost to Oaxaca City before taking a separate road back down to the coast.A long section was not paved, being gravel and some dirt. There was a military checkpoint near a small village along the way (the name of the village escapes me---possibly San Juan de Dios). One reason may have been the recent gorilla activity by anti-government groups in Guerrero, and I did encounter several military checkpoints in rural areas of Guerrero (one officer asked me if I had "been a good boy?", and I assured him I had---it never took long to get through a checkpoint because I had 1000 pounds of gear with me and a thorough search would have been too much like work---hippies got a more intense search because the had less gear but usually some pot---can you say mordida?). The main reason for this checkpoint, of course, was that this area was a source of hallucinogenic mushrooms that the locals used in their religious practices, and the hippies were trying to buy them all, leaving nothing for the resident population. The military was there to keep the hippies moving. On the gravel section of the road I encountered two men at separate times, one wearing an old fashioned raincoat, made from either palm thatch or some sort of coarse grass. Another man was using a giant elephant ear plant leaf as an umbrella. Puerto Angel was even smaller than Puerto Escondido, with one tiny hotel, about 8 rooms. The bathrooms had a concrete water trough in the corner, and to flush a toilet you scooped up a bucket of water from the trough and poured it into the toilet bowl. The windows had curtains but no glass, and one day I came back to my room to find someone else sleeping in my bed! I guess he figured I wasn't using it. The town was so small that the road ended at the edge of the town and there were no streets to speak of. I did pick up a hobby there. There were a couple of stands selling various craft items to the college age Americans that found their way to the town. Two young women showed their purchases to me, two molinillos, pointing out what a bargain they were. I got hooked and over a period of several years I acquired 40 different molinillos from all over Mexico, plus wooden spoons, etc. Still awake. I'm afraid I added a few additional lines. You could have edited a video in the time it took to read this. I hope some of it was interesting. I'm looking forward to the next video.

    • @LaKarencitaMX
      @LaKarencitaMX  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was complaining that there is no internet in Puerto Escondido but it seems that it is much more developed than when you were there. It must seem very boring after the adventures that you had here.
      We did meet some people who had been to the town which is famous for mushrooms in the mountains in Oaxaca. They said that now it is quite touristy and they are openly selling mushrooms everywhere. It sounds like the locals have decided to let the hippies have all of their mushrooms now 😂.
      I can't imagine being in that heat before air conditioning. I would love to find out more about the Afro-Mexican communities in that area. I doubt that I would find the same situation with naked people everywhere now. I hope not because it would be very difficult to film a video!

Many more fancy restaurants and a new hotel. You will find expats more in the Rinconada area. @@LaKarencitaMX Hola. I just spent quite many months there over the last 7 years. As for the ugly building I don't know why it is not finished yet, I think they started like 6 years ago. I have heard that by law in Oaxaca buildings can't be more than 3 floors plus a palapa at the top. But ts seems to be different if you are an ex-governor. Not easy to get true story.
