Video made by Natasa from Treasure Books: What To Do With Leftover Household Paint?
Honestly, the way you see through things or see things not as they are in their natural, present form but transformatively. It's astonishing! Not taking anything away from you or project onto you but for me, the gift you're actually sharing is not the technicalities involved with putting the actual projects together. The gift is the "could be" that you see. The gift is spellbinding in a way. To be specific, you'll show a piece of broken jewelry, a moment later with two more pieces of nothing, it's become a beautiful gorgeous piece, dangle, embellishment. It's the way you materialize with the most common, overlooked items. I often find myself rewatching many of your videos not for technique or to complete a project but as a mechanism to get myself to think and train my mind and eyes to "see". It's an exercise for me. Watching your videos has unlocked a door to more creativity for me that words can't express. I came to this journaling, papercrafting space looking for ideas to make journals. However, seeing one video of yours months ago revealed to me that I'm more interested in producing the behind the scenes stuff (painty papers, bases, dyed papers, quilt type backgrounds with paper, etc) than actual completed journals. As a 24 year classroom teacher, I have to thank you for the way you inspire the joy of learning for me. For me as a creative, often blocked creative, your sharing touches the soul in a way that is transcendent. It ignites my desire to explore, play like a child and release the need for perfection, even resolution. I apologize for such a long comment but I wanted to take some time to try and express to you my appreciation for what you're doing and why. I feel often times, especially in this fast paced digital age, people are quick to both congratulate or condemn without transparently expressing the deeper message behind their comments or beliefs. The slight glimpse of how your mind works through your videos evokes the deeper message for me. Thank you.
I think you’ve summed up my thoughts precisely. Nothing more to add here. ❤
@@rhondaburtch4483 Me too. lol
You have said perfectly what I have wanted to say since I found Natasa’s channel. She has a way of inspiring me to see beyond the typical uses for everyday items into a creative vision of my own. She is my favorite teacher & I look forward to every video 😊
You have said it all and well. She has a talented mind.
Yes! I too agree with this. I've struggled in my life to think of myself as creative in any way despite the fact that I absolutely LOVE making something out of simple, basic items.
Your ideas and Works are absolutley beautiful, great and the best, i have ever seen! You are the best teatcher with the greatest ideas and i love your style and spirit! Thank you so much for sharing all of your projects! Pia
LOVE LOVE LOVE the ASMR at the beginning! ❤
Oh Natasa!! OK, check this!! We're moving, and just yesterday I took a trunk load of Haz Mats (hazardous materials) to the Haz Mat drop off station - it was mostly household paint. I'd never done that before. The man opened my trunk and said, "Uh, ma'am, are you aware of the 15 gallon limit?" Clearly I was not? 😔 He was very nice and took what he could, then sent me on my way with half a trunk of paint that I'd used in my house over the years! 😁😁 HOW PERFECT to make a keepsake book of the years I've lived in this house (which was my parents house before they passed on)!! This is 100 percent your timliest idea ever!! Honey, THANK YOU!! Hugs from the southern California desert (at least for a few more days), MK 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗
This is MINDBLOWING for me… threat to become an addiction and obsession. Some (only some, I took many more): 1. Never throwing away any stained kitchen towels (paint it/use it in JJs instead). 2. Transferring text from newspaper (pressing into wet paint, letting dry, pilling off paper and, if necessary spraying/rubbing the paper off). 3. Stamping with no ink or paint on the stamp onto two contrasting layers of wet paint. 4. Using upholstery fabrics with raised designs for additional texture.5. Creating canvases in different sizes, with unpainted boarders and frayed edges (the mini ones are the cutest). 6. Making more DIY foam stamps (shown here with several circles in the middle and small ones around is nice). Also noting learned expression -- vomit painting (my favorite type).
“Am I here for perfection? Yes, I am.”
“I’m putting this outside to dry, hoping for no bird poop.” 😂❤
Someone needs to get a book going of your quotes: vomit paint; I am going to stop because I can keep going into oblivion; etc. I so enjoy the fresh air!!! OX
She makes me laugh. I love how funny she is and yes all her quotes!!
You, my dear, are a Journal Genius! I so appreciate your creativity and your sharing your amazing creativity with us!
Thanks so much 😊
I would love to rattle around in your mind when you are crafting, what a wonder that would be! You come up with the best ideas, thank you for sharing with us. 💜💚💙
Thank you so much :)
Another uniquely Natasa creative video. Thank you for all the time and effort it takes to make your videos. I cannot say anything more or better than every comment posted. I am in awe of your creativity. Thank you.
After another year or so you may need to create another book "Treasure Bookmaking Creative Additions" You've done so much more in just this short amount of time since releasing your book, which is right here next to my art table.
Thank you for another super inspiring idea and presentation. I have some floral broadcloth that I was planning on gessoing, but now I could also use up some house paint. Wonderful! Love you!
Whimsical Houses.paint them like your home and add to journal.
Everything you do is perfect to me. There isn’t any other creator out there that keeps me captured like you do. Thank you for all you do. You are greatly appreciated.
Incredible work. Who would have thought of this idea . I’m going looking for old paint . I will ask some tradie for old paint 😂😂😂😂
🤯Wow!.. so creative!...
Oh.. Natasha, how I wish I was your family member/friend/neighbor, idk something related to you so we can have crafting dates, I can hear your voice, laugh at your jokes, play/craft with our kids
😭🫶🏾❤
You are so inspiring to many, and in our eyes, a special person anyone could have.
🫂❤️ hoping you, your family, and, of course, Banyo are doing well.
I said it before & I'll say it again. You're the best!
Thank you so much :)
What a lovely shade of yellow. Great results!
Thanks so much 😊
Another video from the Queen of Paper, Creativity and Imagination.
Awesome.
Yay, thank you!!
@@TreasureBooks I thought, you may like that 😁 but it is well deserved. Awesome your never ending source of ideas and those well prepared, smart and inspiring videos. Absolutely outstanding!
I absolutely love these and your personality is fantastic. Ty
Excellent vid. While watching I wondered if using the dried painted material to cover a cardboard box, such as a shoe box, might work. The box could be a storage box for craft stash❤
i do that all the time. and then i stamp on those boxes with my own diy foam stamps. fun fun
I have painted a box with a lid. worked great!!! I painted to match the color of my room!
Or paint directly onto the box itself
Absolutely amazing, your ideas are so original , honestly you are by far the best journal maker I've ever watched. Fantastic.
You've got me hooked that's for sure. Xxx
Sometimes I’m just in pure awe of your brain. I love the way you think, and I love your humor. You truly are a gift to us all. You have an amazing style. Thanks for another great project. 😊❤
Thank you so much :)
I love your editing. I know it’s a lot of work, but it’s great. Clever, informative and amusing ( sneak peek into the future). ❤
Thank you so much :)
Love the journals. What a great way to use leftover paint.
Sooo creative! Thank you!!! Lots of old paint at our place. Now I know how to use it!!
Delightful! Thank you for sharing! ❤🎉
I don't even make junk journals but I always watch your videos because you inspire me for other crafts I do and I implement your ideas in them, so... thanks 💯!!!
That is awesome, thank you!
Another fantastic project. Fabrics here I come. Adding few papers and envelops for writing elements will solve this fabulous art journal painty project
Wonderful! Thanks for watching :)
Honestly girlfriend. I absolutely love ❤️ this idea. And the way it looks is phenomenal. Stunning. ❤❤❤
Will be doing this for sure. Ty for your awesome crafting ❤❤❤

Thank you so much :)
Howdy! Awesome idea... thank you so much for sharing! Just yesterday Mr. Possum was looking for some old house paint to paint some rocks out in the yard so he wouldn't hit them with the lawn mower. HEY!... save some of that paint for me! HUGs 💙 Blessings & Bubbles🫧
Whst a wonderful idea!!! I have tons of paint. This is going to be fun. I truly enjoy your videos. It lets us be kids again. The creativity is amazing thst you have. Can't wait for your painted papers video. Loved the Easter dying paper also. So creative!!

Another brillant idea, so impressing . Love your Videos.thankyou for your Inspiration.
Thanks so much 😊
I was thinking that old stained napkins would work for this and then you mentioned the kitchen towels. This is a great way to use old paint and old cloth! Love it!
Thank you so much :)
Hello Natasha, Lol, my kitchen is the same color as yours! Take care my friend! ❤😊❤. Laura and Lucy 🐾
You are such a talented creator. Oh my goodness m the different ways you come up with ideas amazes me. Hope you have a wonderful day. ❤❤
Thank you so much :) You too!!
I've seen the house paint on paper, this is cool too. Todays Quote: " A kind word is like a spring Day." - Russian Proverb. I shared the video. Huge hugs. Namesta 🐞🐞🐞
Love that, thank you!
Natasha another absolutely brilliant idea🎉 love your channel and so glad there are so many video's i can catch up on and watch. Thanks for sharing your amazing talents with us. ❤❤
A wonderful way to use up old paint! I have some laying around, I will give it a try! Love your ideas! Thank you for another great video!
Great idea you never fail to inspire ❤
Thank you so much :)
Ahhh Natasha, why knot! My next outside project for my grandchildren. I was going to challenge them to paint old flower pots. As long as we are using old paint, we can also use old pillow cases etc.
You’ve got me going to the garage to look for paint. And, then to the closet or wherever to look for fabric. Always interested in what you will do next. ❤
Yay, Thank you so much :)
Aha! The small sample bottles of household paint that I bought when I thought I would paint some walls--- now to round up the kitchen towels that have wear and tear and stains.... and the sponge paint brushes and unasked for "credit" cards. Thank you for the ideas -- using music pages--- good idea too.
omg!
You are Queen of ideas!!!!!
love it, love it....
point is...we create from everything around us only sometimes short of thinking..haha...
bigish hugs from Ursa, polish girl live in Cape Town in RSA
Love all your ideas! Going to try the newpaper, so cool!❤
Have fun!
Love your ideas
Thanks for the inspiration, Natasa! My favorite one is the colorful model you showed with "Paint" on the cover. For the one you made on camera, I was imaginging you'd use the upholstery fabric for the cover, as I would have done. Not fond of the gray paint or the book plate on that one, otherwise it's great. Really like the beads you added to the binding on the second one. I will definitely try this out if I can find some leftover paint to use!
Natasha, I absolutely love the paint journal you made ❤ such a great idea I live in an apartment so I don’t have any household paint to use but love the color 😊
Once again, so inspiring 😍
Amazing! Love it!
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah!!!
hehe thank you!
Incredible ideas you have! Love watching you work, always unique and super fun and cool! Thank you!
Hola desde Argentina, me encanto este nuevo proyecto. Gracias infinitas por darnos ideas para poder reciclar cosas que tenemos guardadas y no sabemos que hacer con ellas. Sencillanente hermoso como siempre, un abrazo a la distancia.
My favorite creator ❤ when I see you here.
Agreed. I recommend Treasure Books to anyone I talk journals to.
I always recommend this channel to others who are new to journalling or need inspiration!
I use glitter glue heaps. It lifts things to the next level and makes them alive, you can't beat it and it's so easy. For the brand you are using, I have cut a bit more off the nozzle and I squeeze a blob out on something and dab it on my craft from there, with my finger tip or or the bottle nozzle for better and finer placement. Greetings from across the Ditch! Love your creativity, Natasha. ❤❤❤
Hi Natasa! You are an amazing, bottomless well of creativity and inspiration. 😘 I just wanted to say that your process of "making marks" is as much art as someone who can draw beautifully. Both are equally valid! 👍 Also, even though you say that bright colours aren't your thing, the vividly coloured journal cover was my favourite - absolutely gorgeous! 😍
What a great idea ❤❤❤❤. I want to try this on old bed sheets and see if it holds up. I plan on using all those old T shirts that no one wants. I have been making rugs out of them, to use them and old paint up just blows my mind. Absolutely love all the ideas you share.
Wow ..another fantastic project..your imagination is limitless ❤
Thank you so much 😀
Actually, bird poo could be that extra touch 😂
Great project, will try it! 😘😘
Hehe I was thinking the same thing :) Thanks for watching :)
I really like the brightly colored cover. I was a pastel color person but lately I'm liking the brighter colors. The second journal cover came to life with the beads. I don't know if I'll do any painting on fabric but now it's an option. Thanks for willing to experience and sharing the results with us.
I used house paint just the other day on really old paper. When it was dry I used different colors of inks with stencils then made a master board I cut up and made tags and journal cards. I feel it needs varnish so the paper won’t crack off. But I can’t find it right now 🤦🏻♀️ But they look great 🙌
I was planning to wait until tomorrow morning to watch, but I could not wait!!
Interesting idea - not sure if I will do this but I thank you for your constant creativity. ❤
Natasa, what a creative idea for using up old paint! Your style and creativity are always so inspiring! Thank you!! 😀❤️
Thank you so much!
Great use for old paint. I never thought to do this. My head is totally exploding 🤯 right now! I will definitely be trying this! Thank you so much for posting this!
I'm so glad you feel inspired, thank you for watching :)
This is a really cool idea I want to try ❤😊
Bonjour cette réalisation est superbe, comme tout ce que vous publiez merci 🤩 ❤❤
You can make gesso out of it too and save a bunch of money.
Excellent idea!!
You did it again!! 🤯 I love, love this. I have zero paints, but I will be asking around. I didn’t think I would care much for the yellow but I ended up loving it! Thank you for another fabulous inspiration! Hugs 🤗❤️
In the first seconds of your presentation of the work, and before I watch the entire video, I tell you that you are a genius. I love everything you present, and I love your artistic touch, with your skill and your limitless idea of creativity. I thank you very much for your presentation method and artistic sophistication.
❤❤❤
The buttery yellow is beautiful! I heard that is you add a bit of fabric softner to your paint it will make the finish less canvasy feeling.
Oh I had no idea! thank you for sharing
Need I say more? Your a pure creative Genius! love your tutorials!
Thank you so much :)
Natasha you are a genius! I have tons of paint in colors I will not reuse. I got chalk to turn it into chalk paint. BUT I have been looking for a way to repaint my faded parasol they do not UV protect on purpose probably. Iv got a taupe I do not care for and pink. If I add orange dye to the pink I will get peach and also for the taupe. So i will end up with a peachy parasol maybe… rather than my turquoise which I love. wetting the parasol first will help smoothe the paint, But, I have a spray gun I may put to use and just do it. If I paint dry, the underside will look bad and streaky. 6x cans of Rostoleum will cost $79 plus taxes so it makes no sense. If I had cash I would buy transfers from IOD. Or use a stencil and go crazy. I will have a unique parasol.
So u can add other acrylics and dye to your buttercream and change it up. Turn it to chalk pain for shabby furniture or frames. Excellent way to use up all that paint! ❤
Wow, what a great idea. You never cease to amaze me. Speaking from childhood experience (I got such a telling off a long time ago) a 6B sketch pencil writes really well on wall paint.
Love the ASMR section at the beginning of your videos!
Yay, thank you!
I can always get at least one good belly laugh from each of your videos! Today it was how nonchalantly you said "And hope for no bird poop". I am always impressed with your tremendous creativity but the humor is icing on the cake! Thank-You!
As always!!! Just stunning!!!
Beautiful color, that soft yellow!
My precious Mom’s favorite color…
Touched my heart for a sweet reminder of her❤
Ah that''s beautiful. Thank you :)
It's very interesting & I actually really like it, and "paint vomit".... I almost spit out my tea I was drinking, soooo funny, you just kill me 💜😂🤣😂💜
hehe thank you!
Love this idea! Love the textures that show through, too. There are so many possibilities with this idea! Lovely journals you created!
Wow, I would have never thought of using up house/wall paint for crafting!
Brilliant! You're amazing when it comes to creating. Your abstract paintings are absolutely museum quality, whether you believe it or not. Try putting one in a frame and you'll see it. 🤗
Natasha: unbelievable! Your imagination is at a genius level. You come up with the most inventive ideas. These pieces are outstanding. That idea of getting newsprint and transferring it onto canvas is so easy and looks so good. Everything is just brilliant and so well done. Carol from California
Thanks so much 😊
Hello and thank you for your continuous inspirations!
Thanks for watching!
This was fun!! 🎉 I love the colorful cover book ❤ these are great 👍
Thank you 🤗
Geniale diciamo in Italia! Complimenti
Oh how beautiful. I love the bright colored one. You are so creative ❤
Thanks so much 😊
I would like to see you a video on how you tie your bows and knots. I need to see those things a couple of times to get it.
She did video on that :-) I guess you'll have to search
You can search: She did video on that
OMG! Natasha you are amazing I would love to live in your brain for a day!! 😍
hehe Thank you so much :)
Thank you for this video and it was a great birthday present for me today!❤
Happy birthday!
Have tried napkins with this method? This is really cool idea.
You always surprise and amaze! What a wonderful idea. Thank you, yet again.
Thank you so much!!
Oh! I absolutely love this! I should be in bed. It is 3:30 am here but I just had to watch before going to bed. I'm going to be dreaming of delicious colors. Thank you for another burst of goodness and inspiration!
I did use Acrylic paint and baking soda mix creates nice gritty consistency and paint some glass jar or a piece of wood frame for various projects including fabrics as well. I have few frames around my house.
I've heard that you can thicken paint with cornstarch. Then make textured designs.
Wow! You are such an inspiration!
Thank you! 😊
Love this idea especially using the towel
