- Hello there ladies and gentlemen welcome to the wonderful city / nation builder / management game called Tropico 5. I must say I love this game it is great fun! Many would say that this is a perfectly balanced game with no exploits. However, today I will be using the wonderful Church only challenge to unlock the power of infinite money which I promise will 100% not imbalance the game. I mean what could go wrong with Building an inquisition that pays you to maintain more and more churches. Who needs to actually have an island industry when instead you can just import everything to feed your colonists and settlers. Using this method we will be able to break the game and achieve infinite money from Churches only. Thats right no body expects the Spanish inquisition so we wont be dealing with a tropico 5 war. Instead we will be a pacifist society of Church builders and spanish inquisitions!
What you have seen here today is part of a fantastic perfectly balanced series on youtube where I go from game to game and break them with wacky exploits to gain things like unlimited gold. The real reason they built trenches in World War 1 is so the soldiers had somewhere to hide when Spiff's church bells sent out massive shockwaves from when they all rang at once.
This is like actual tropico logic, would not sound out of place as an objective in game

What Tropico 5 is missing is the *Concordat* a law rooted deeply in State Constitution.
It says the Catholic church should gain subsidies, is 100% free of taxes, this law can't be changed in any shape, form, or time.
All schools, hospitals, funeral institutions, and all burial places, and crematoria should pay appropriate financial subvention to the church if not hiring a priest.
The constitution can be changed or even erased, but Concordat is independent of these weaknesses - therefore infinite.
Chinese and US wealth combined are laughable when compared to the treasury of the Catholic Holy See of the Vatican.

I'd love to think that this island is actually a volcano and will eventually get covered in ash like pompej and hundreds of years later some archeologists will find it and start excavating and just see like 8 houses with living-chambers and 8000 churches and have no idea what the hell was going on here.

i'm still amazed by all the exploits you can show in games, even some not real bugs but just clever use of mechanics!
I mean listen the catholic church did become pretty wealthy. it was common practice for noblemen to send their second sons off to monasteries and to gift the monastery land in order to ensure their sons were taken care of (and their souls too) some monasteries grew so wealthy some monks actually ate better than kings!
These games are geting every day more realistic, i am from the 3th world, and can tell this is someway absolutely true.

You can import food, and he had the money. You can also see he spent quite a bit on military to keep repressing the rebels
Colonial era runs on easy mode, you don't get rebellions, only pirate attacks.

@@zohirhasn7657 Good question, with a certain constitution setup you essentially get no rebellions, but the options needed are not available right away if i remember correctly, some techs need to be unlocked that might not be available in world wars.
In general, make sure the constitution allows as many people to vote as possible (If it does not, the approval rating you have will be deceptive and not tell you the whole story.) and keep a high approval.
Even then, you probably need to appease some factions (Just do their missions even if they are stupid, like when they demand some building you do not want, build one anyway, and you can later demolish it. Luckily the game does not track things like that.) or they will create rebels even if your island is a paradise.

I can only add that I usually prohibit priests from joining Catholic missions with a right click of the mouse. At the same time, they do not require money for maintenance, but indulgences remain.

And here I am playing T6 instead and wondering if the same algorithm that autobuilds shacks can be used to make citizens build other "private" buildings to satisfy their own needs... at expense of lowered happiness and loyalty of visitors, inability to demolish or move them without paying full cost of the building beforehand and so on. Devs talked about mod support and it was apparently just marketing lie:(
