    Cool vid man, I started modding my Squier Strat earlier this year and have done trem/bridge, tuners, nut & string trees but have stalled at the electrics I've got the pups etc just haven't had the time/nerve to rip it all out and start again...

      @@StompSlaps or should I say Max/Bob/Fred/John? Yeah mate, that's kind of how I started my channel -the first few vids I posted were documenting the Squier Strat journey, hope to get back to it soon(ish)...

    Cheers for this just looking into putting these into my cp 50s strat

      Hey dude! Did you find the problem with volume dropping out higher up on the bottom two strings? Since doing that video I put another strat together and bought a set of tonerider classic blues (Texas specials basically) single coils into it and it’s my favourite sounding guitar by a long shot, knowing what I know now if I could go back I would but the toneriders in the CP50, the seymours are great etc, but for £60-70 from Amazon I would definitely go that route. It’s all subjective of course, but I’d be amazed to see anyone disappointed with the TR’s. Just something to think about dude 🙌🏼✌🏼👍🏼, thanks for watching 😃👍🏼

    You can sort the push pull problem with push push pots, I would get them over the s-1 switch as they break and can be over complicated to install, also just get the whammy arm in a vice a bend it to a better angle so it clears the top of the pots even when pulled out. Nice video dude was interested in the pick up configuration after you mentioned it in the pod! Keep up the good work!!!

    What you can do with the middle pushpull pot is do a paralell series switch

    How did you wire things so position #4 is bridge and neck?

  • @paj1015
    @paj1015 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The pick-ups are NOT stacked single-coils, but true singlecoil-sized humbuckers and you DO split them, just like a full-sized humbucker.

    • @paj1015
      @paj1015 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Comfortably Dumb No, they are just about the same output as full-sized humbuckers.

      @@paj1015 except the duckbucker that has a very low output

    I had the same issue with the top hats on a push pull for a classic 50 strat. I ended up putting knurled knobs on mine, which grip onto the pot will but also give grip to pull on easily. I've also installed push push pots, which work even better. Both of these would get in the way of a whammy still though, but I don't use them anyway 😂😂😂

    • @StompSlaps
      @StompSlaps  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thanks for watching! to be honest I’d probably change them to push push pots rather than S1 as they fail far too regularly for me to bother with, but push push would be the way to go 😃👍🏼

    I have an HSS guitar and thinking about putting these pickups, what's the best full-size humbucker equivalent to the JB.Jr? Does a regular JB Trembucker will match in terms of tonal EQ and output? Or is there any other options?

    Unless you desperately want one-third of the available tones of the Strat I can't understand why anyone would pick a model with the 3-way switch

    • @StompSlaps
      @StompSlaps  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrew Hayes I’ve wondered the very same thing myself to be honest, the other complete mystery is why you wouldn’t have a tone knob connected to the bridge pickup.... 😂👍🏼 thanks for watching! 😃👍🏼

    They’re differences between Mexican and USA made Fenders not only in quality but most importantly in the guitars value! That Mexican made Strat isn’t worth what you paid for it the moment you bring it home yet the American made one not only retains its value it will increase over time! You buy a Mexican Fender or even worse a Squire when you’re not serious and it will either end up in a pawn shop or the dump at some point, you buy an American Fender when you’re serious and it will be with you the rest of your life!
