    Thanks for the work you do as it helps to understand the performance capabilities of these pistols. And a reminder that, you only get what you pay for where performance is involved. Self defence: One needs to consider that there is no substitute for stopping power. “Usually”, an assailant is on stimulant and, to overcome that mind-altering substance, one needs significant stopping power. Therefore, disregard these pistols that are shooting in the high 200s as you will need a 450-580 fps to really stop the aforementioned attacker. Otherwise you will need to be a crack shot under duress situations to stop such an attacker. Don’t be fooled, there is no substitute for power when it comes to stopping attacks. Steer clear of these low powered pistols.

    I removed that ugly trigger guard on the Compact, now fits in most any holster for that size weapon.
    I removed it because IMO it served no purpose. The only time the gun is hot is AFTER pressing the CO₂ cartridge actuator, meaning it is going to be in my hand and I'm shooting it.
    It also does not hold the rounds in the feed channel, the spring and plastic follower do that.
    I too dyed mine black, and I used a Dremel to grind flat the two "Mickey Mouse ears" at that front of the barrel. Now looks like a gun, which statistics indicate repels 90% of the perps you will encounter. (Odds are you are gonna live your whole life without being accosted.)

    Does the compact have that metal CO2 restrictor plate inside where the CO2 canister goes?(Not the plastic restrictor inside the valve) I drilled a bigger hole in that for the regular HDP 50 and it seemed to help. Just curious if the compact has the same thing. Thanks for your videos.

      Hi David the compact has a plastic restrictor and it is super easy to get to! remove the orange top and unscrew the back of the charge indicator and you will see it! Take a small screw and screw it in to the plastic hole and pop it out. Go to “complete technology solutions” TH-cam channel he has a great video on it.

    What weight of projectiles used in this test?? The hdp50 should be over 400fps with 3 gram or slightly heavier rounds

    • @airgunnerreviews7888

    Either your full size hdp is damaged, your chrono is not working, or your using the wrong ammo because even the standard 7.5 version shoots between 380 and 400 fps. I have one and with rubber or powder rounds I consistently get those numbers. Just sayin...

    • @airgunnerreviews7888
      @airgunnerreviews7888  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there! I was using steel core 4 gram projectiles so it does lower the FPS however the first shot (334 fps) is actually over 20 joules!

    • @airgunnerreviews7888

      I would highly recommend the standard over the compact. It is a little cheaper, offers 2 more shots, better accuracy and sights and when you remove the valve block and install the shorter valve pin you will get 20 + joules.

    Hi, which belly band do you use? I have a cheap belly band and it does not fit my HDP 50 Compact at all. So I am interested in the one that you have, if you can share the name or link, please. Thanks!

      This belly band will work perfect you just have to take a razor and remove the bottom divider stitch, it takes 2 seconds. amzn.to/3BTe2vG

    Hey Scott, what do you think is the most compact, lightweight pepper ball gun you could recommend for a petite woman to be able to conceal carry while out shopping and or running outside? any recommendations?

    • @airgunnerreviews7888
      @airgunnerreviews7888  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Angela! Hand down would be a Byrna launcher in either the EP or SD model! They are more expensive than most but all you need to do is load it and if needed just pull the trigger and it will pierce the C02 and fire at the same time! I would also highly recommend the Max projectiles which offer a nasty chemical that gets in the eyes, nose and throat and really burns. Perhaps extra 8 gram C02 and extra kinetic projectiles for practice. Certainly not a cheap investment but in todays world a sound investment! Good luck and please stay safe!

    • @chihuahua_mama_1984

      @@airgunnerreviews7888 thank you so much! I like the looks of the Byrna. I am definitely going to consider purchasing this so I have something more than mace which I feel like I would have to get too close to use. I really appreciate your reply and recommendation!

      @chihuahua_mama_1984 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@airgunnerreviews7888 one additional thing, I saw in one review where one of the max projectiles broke in the gun and was a real mess to clean up. Do you have any experience with balls breaking in the Byrna?

    • @airgunnerreviews7888
      @airgunnerreviews7888  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is true the Max rounds can crack at the seams but there is a way to prevent this from happening and that is by not loading and unloading the magazine! It is helpful to have one magazine dedicated just for self defense and your first round should be a kinetic and the rest chemical. And the spare magazine would be for practicing. Mostly the cracking of the chemical rounds is do to over handling (loading and unloading shortens the life of the shell). I will be be addressing this in one of my next videos. Take care!

    Hello friend, could you please tell me, I have the 11 jul hdr50.. Is there a valve block on my revolver? Im buying the tuning barrel and was curious if I had a blocker also..

    • @airgunnerreviews7888
      @airgunnerreviews7888  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you have a valve block and you may want to get the shorter valve pin while you’re at it! Between the block and pin it should boost you to around 20 or so joules. I just received the new pin for my HDR and will be installing it this weekend but I already did it to the HDP50 and I am getting 20 joules.

      It can still demonstrate a % difference between products tested at the same time as long as they are both taken at the same distance.
