  • Centennial College first opened its doors in 1966. As the oldest college in Ontario, its Progress campus is the largest under its umbrella.
Located in Toronto, one of the world's most multicultural cities, The Milkman decided to stop by the Progress Campus to find out about the student experience. Interesting revelations were shared, and if you are interested in attending the institution, you might be interested in the things students had to say.

That girl stating that there were too many old students I hope she realizes that not everyone had the chance to attend College at a younger age.
Being uneducated is not bad as deciding to stay in that way when you have the opportunity to better your education. Also, in Canada, many new immigrants have to go back to school no matter what was their profession back home.

Yep. Sadly a lot of immigrants who come over with children dont have the option to go back to school. My local convenience store owner/around the clock worker was a neuroscientist in india. Best he could get here was a shitty old convenience store. Sad. But his kids are also insanely smart (computer engineers) so he can retire soon i hope

Correct Lasheida...Another reason could be that some of the older students already have an actual University degree from another country and could only switch/continue with a different discipline by getting into an advanced diploma program first...This is the case for me, so I know. Infact, the requirement at the time was that I have an undergrad degree in a health field, to qualify for the advanced diploma program, before I may consider a masters program..in yet another field, if I ever want to make it in the competitive job market.

I don’t know why people are so offended with what the black girls said. She’s valid in what she’s saying. It’s about diversity and not just having one race dominant the whole school population. I think that was the point they were trying to make. And believe it or not most people are drawn to individuals who look like them and seeing a equal number of races is comforting to most people. It can be hard to fit in or assimilate when you may not see your people and when it comes to a majority of brown people they usually hang and talk solely among themselves and don’t really mix in with other people of different races. Regardless the student experience would be better if there was more diversity. I go to York and there’s a lot of diversity and an equal proportion of different races here, where black, brown, Asian, Middle Eastern have the opportunity to learn from each other’s cultures but at the same time indulge in spaces that celebrate our individual cultures.

Considering this school, I don't think the girl (because she acts like one) realizes how the canadian immigration system works and how a lot of people will come to study at a college, get their spouse a work visa and then eventually become Permanent Residents, and it's not just couples, it's all kinds of already educated some from better schools than centennial and have to study something just because of the opportunity it offers, it would be interesting if you made another video and try to interview international students.

Don’t bother with Sheridan, it was so bad me and my sister both left after one semester. 97% are international students. It’ll be extremely hard to find a group of ppl in your classrooms to work with and outside of school. Plus a lot of the professors are passive aggressive and unhelpful. Save yourself the nightmare

It's so weird to me how these people can't seem to feel comfortable socializing with people of different races... Weird. I feel like here in my country we just make friends without caring whether or not someone is black, indigenous, asian, white, blue, red or whatever, people are people, I don't care what color they are...... This video makes me feel like Centennial wouldn't be such a good choice, kind of judgemental...
