Got your "At-home-delivery-kit." Well thought out and definitely handy for situations where modern medicine isn't available. Luckily, I didn't need to use it for my newborn that came 7 days ago.
AWWWW! Congrats! That is so awesome! I'm super glad you didn't have to use it, that can be scary. The future kids may come out faster, be ready to hit the road earlier next time :-) Be healthy, Nurse Amy :-)
I'm wondering if you have any suggestions on what could be used for general anesthesia in a grid down scenario. Obviously, I'm an RN and into preparedness. I'm not a doctor and could not perform a surgical procedure. But in the event somebody had that training, in a posts apocalyptic world, what might they use?
Hi LDS Nurse! Truly, general anesthesia is problematic in an apocalyptic setting. In the era before modern medicine, a mixture of acetone and bleach was used to make chloroform, a powerful but toxic general anesthetic. It was dripped slowly into a cloth placed over the patient's face or inhaled from a special cannister. Although it served the purpose, sometimes it caused burns and was difficult to dose accurately. Many amputations were performed during the Civil War using this method or another anesthetic, ether. Best, Joe Alton MD
Hi David, You have a choice of CAT 7th Gen (newest) in black or orange, SOF-T in Black or orange, and SAM XT in combo black/ornage. You get 2 of these plus 2 SWAT TQs as back up tourniquets or for very small or very large arms. These are genuine products directly from the manufacturer or the authorized first line USA dealer. Be careful of knockoffs! They are everywhere. Be safe! Nurse Amy
Yes! an ace bandage and gauze pads can do the same thing. There are many versions for people who think outside the box. Thanks for sharing!! Be safe, Amy
Yay new video
maybe someday, I will be able to pick one up.

I have big tags on my M3 bag zippers labeled BLEEDING BREATHING BROKEN. This helps find the right stuff for the right problem.

Excellent! Which tourniquets are you using in the kits?

@@DrBonesNurseAmy Best quality stuff, thank you.
Take the SWAT and a few 5x9 ( aka ABD or Abdominal) pads and you have a makeshift compression bandage don’t you?
