  • We visited the monument and grave of President and Major General Zachary Taylor, in Louisville, Kentucky. Zachary Taylor was a career soldier and gave almost his entire life in service to his country. He served most of his career on the western frontier of the United States and took part in the Northwest Indian Wars, Black Hawk's War and the Seminole Wars before getting called to first in the Mexican War.
He had zero political experience but was urged to run for President of the United States. He refused to take the oath of office on the assigned day because it was the sabbath which gave power to the only man who has had it for one day. President Zachary Taylor died in office and his death is a mystery to this day. His main goal during his Presidency was the preservation of the Union.
Taylor was technically kidnapped on his journey to take office as President and another interesting fact about him is that the eventual President of the Confederate States of American Jefferson Davis served under Taylor and resigned so that he could marry Taylor's daughter.
Zachary Taylor lived a amazing life and is forgotten by most Americans today. We aim to help keep his legacy alive. Hear his epic story in this video!

When his daughter married Jefferson Davis, Taylor refused to attend the wedding or allow it to be held in his house. So the wedding was held in the home of his sister, Elizabeth, about a mile away from the Taylor home. That house later burned down but a new house exists on the site. The modern address - interesting in light of Davis' later life - is 2 Rebel Road in Louisville. Taylor's home still exists and has a current address of 5608 Apache Rd in Louisville.
Jefferson Davis so loved Sarah Knox Taylor that when he married Varena Howell in 1845, he took his new bride to visit Knoxie's grave.

I have visited Taylor's grave. It is located in a unique place in Louisville. His first wife is buried in a cemetery on private property in St. Francisville, LA. Great video!

Very interesting, so ironic that after all he went through it was Cherry Ice Cream supposedly that got him in the end. I would expect the Cancel Culture Crowd to go after his name next if they haven’t already

I actually hadn’t thought of that as far as him living through so much but met his end from ice cream.

I love these videos. But with him being a slave owner, plantation owner, I can see it now tear it down. People are crazy. That said, I went to the Heritage about 2 yrs ago, Andrew Jackson's home. It runs by the interstate at the back of the graveyard. People were coming over the fence and painting and destroying the place. They had an armed guard there 24/7, they even had a tent in the field as an office til they could get a fence or whatever they did to stop it. But I enjoyed it, keep up the good work

    • @judypierce7028

That is so sad! There are so many IGNORNANT people in the world. I liked Andrew Jackson, but I did not like his politics on Native Americans.

He was a despicable person for many reasons, not only for being a slave owner. He also allowed his troops to commit war crimes during the Mexican American war, especially in the city of Monterrey. He’s far from being someone admirable.
